Kernel 92.1.10 build issue
I pulled down the 2.6.18-92.1.10 source, installed it, built the package, copied the straight x86_64 config file from SOURCES into the build directory, redid make menuconfig to enable NTFS support, added the # x86_64 back into the .config file, copied .config back to the SOURCES directory and ran rpmbuild -ba --target=x86_64 <spec file> (same as I always do with new kernels), but this time

Is it possible compile an a new x86_64 kernel on an i686 CentOS system? When I tried to do so with this command rpmbuild -ba --target x86_64 kernel-2.6.spec I got the following error: make[1]: *** [nonint_oldconfig] Error 51 make: *** [nonint_oldconfig] Error 2 error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.40130 (%build) RPM build errors: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.40130

Building Custom Kernel - CentOS 4.4
Hi All, I am having issue when trying to build a custom kernel in CentOS 4.4. Current Kernel Version is 2.6.9-42.ELsmp and the server is HP Proliant DL380 G3. I downloaded the source rpm and then installed it. Gave the command, rpmbuild -bp --target=i686 /usr/src/redhat/SPECS/kernel-2.6.spec. But it throws me an error after patch operations. The following is the error.

acroread 8 on CentOS-4 (was for SL4)
I know acroread is not part of CentOS but many people use it. Thought forwarding this post on the SciLinux mailing list might help those who use acroread on CentOS-4. === excerpt === The "latest" version officially compatible with RHEL4 is acroread-7.0.9, but this currently has open security holes (CVE-2007-5663 et al). http://www.adobe.com/support/security/advisories/apsa08-01.html

Compiling kernel-2.6.13...
Hi. I'm trying to use CentOS4.2 for some audio work (ie. sound editing, etc.). I found a site called PlanetCCRMA (http://ccrma.stanford.edu/planetccrma/software/) and decided that I would give some of their applications a try (hoping that it would not affect my system greatly!). At first I tried the Fedora 3 packages (and they do work), but what I really wanted to do is to download the

How to add to EPEL wishlist?
Does anyone know how to submit wishes to the EPEL Wishlist here? http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL/WishList It reads "Immutable Page". They say: "Please add packages that are part of Fedora but lack a EPEL maintainer to this list", but there is no way to do that! They don't say if "Packages part of Fedora" means "Core" or it can be Extras too, but

Kernel source - linux -2.6.18 i386 or i686
As I plow through the Kernel source to figure out why the BEET patch is not working, I notice that there are two similar directories under ~/rpmbuild/BUILD/kernel-2.6.18: linux-2.16.18.i386 and linux-2.16.18.i686 So which one am I suppose to be patching? Currently, the patch starts out with: diff -urN a/net/ipv4/xfrm4_input.c b/net/ipv4/xfrm4_input.c I followed the kernel source setup

Which box?
I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I'm not finding an answer anywhere. Do I need a dedicated box to run asterisk, or can I put in my server (running Fedora) and leverage some of the free cpu cycles and disk space? Thanks, Dunc

confidence interval of a average...
I have a sample of lung capacities from a population measured against height. I need to know the 95% CI of the lung capacity of a person of average height. I have fitted a regression line. How do I get a minimum and maximum values of the 95% CI? My thinking was that this has something to do with covariance, but how? My other thinking was that I could derive the 0.975 (sqrt 0.95) CI for the

Maildir Cleanup
Hi all, I found an article (with python script) on how to clean up Maildir folder for old email messages from http://www.ducea.com/2006/11/25/cleanup-maildir-folders-archive-delete-old-mails/ . As I understand, this will be run by each user after login. How can I make this runs at least once a month and delete all users message with age more than one month for example using crontab? Bandwidth
Assuming I'm using a VOIP provider of some sort, what kind of bandwidth requirements / line should I expect to have in place? I currently have 8 traditional voice lines, and a FAX line that doubles as my DSL source. Ballpark, what do I need to have in place to move everything to asterisk? Dunc

Other apps checking Day/Night
I'm fairly new to Asterisk, so please bear with me if this is silly question. I'd like to run a script on my server that would take the "Call now to order" banner off my website automatically when I put my phone system on night. I can handle the webserver side of things, but I don't know where to begin on the Asterisk side of things - can a simple script be run to

Can't get things running
I'm new to wine, and I don't seem to be able to get any of my apps running. I configured Wine on Fedora Core 3 with Winetools. Wine is working, I can run the builtin Win apps, and my Win installers all run but post install I'm not making much progress. My first app (Ckpp.exe), which appeared to install fine pops up a dialog box saying: DDE requires ddeml.dll I did a locate

External MW Lamp On/Off
One of the connections my asterisk PBX has is an analog extension from a Comdial hybrid. On the Comdial system, message waiting is turned on by dialing *3 and then the station number. It is turned off by dialing #3 and the station number. I was wanting to have Asterisk (or Comedian mail) set the message lamp in the Comdial system when a new message arrives for a user, and extinguish the lamp

Trackmania NF 2.11.11 fails to start in Wine 1.1.28
I'm a new user of Ubuntu 9.04 and have installed Wine 1.1.28. Have not been able to get Trackmania Nations Forever 2.11.11 to start despite the AppDB indicating it should be fine. Installer worked fine, but program crashes on startup with an error message saying "Application has encountered a serious error and needs to close". Dump file indicates an unhandled exception. First
