Code change required in x11drv keyboard driver
aAHello all. I know I'm technically a wine newby (having only just installed the codeweavers preview 2) but I have a code change request. Deep within the file ~/windows/x11drv/keyboard.c in the function X11DRV_ToUnicode is the comment 'More areas where X11 returns characters but Windows does not CTRL + number or CTRL + symbol'. Whilst this is a reasonable assumption, this is in

Disappearing mouse on CentOS 4.1
For the second time in two days, my mouse just "disappeared" from my desktop system running CentOS 4.1 (yes, I'm using CentOS as a workstation). At the time, I was trying to open the main Gnome menu from the panel, and I think my hand slipped before I released the mouse button. I tried accessing an alternate console (Ctrl-Alt-1) and then coming back to the X11 desktop

removing daylight savings in R
Hi all, I've been having some trouble with times in regards to daylight savings in R version 2.8.1. I have an ORACLE database that R is importing data in from, for the 2am and 2:30am time intervals for the dates that daylight savings starts the times are getting read as NA values into R. I'm also finding that if I open a R workspace from version 6.2.2,the datetimes are

Problems with serial comm
Hi! I'm new to this list as well to Wine, so please excuse me if I'm asking a FAQ. Today I installed wine-20011108, especially to be able to run programs I need for my work. One of them is a remote front panel to the measuring instrument, which communicates with it using a modem connection. This program cannot establish a connection. It accesses the modem, its LEDs blink, but no

R Novice Question
Please forgive the relative lack of sophistication here -- I'm trying to learn R, remove the rust from my basic training in statistics, AND produce a useful result. I have two vectors of equal length, A and B, with a one-to-one correspondence between the elements (ie. A[i] corresponds to B[i]) which are provided by an SQL server upon which I can run any SQL statement. I would like to

R project global options file
Hello R-help, I currently have R-project 3.4.2 and R-studio 1.1.383 installed on some of our universities computer labs. Since the installation of Visual studio the default version of R installed has changed to the version installed by VS. Users can change the default R version: found in R studio global options but users need to do this every session. Is there a file or

Problem with print$
Ok...I'm stuck. Environment: Suse 8.0, with Samba 2.2.3a, no domain controller (workgroup only). Client machine is NT4 Workstation, SP5. Access to disk shares is fine, no problems, using encrypted PWs. I'm trying to set up a [print$] share, as described in chapter 6 of the Samba-HOWTO-Collection. The symptom that I get is that when I attempt to load the driver to the print$ share, I

FOSDEM?
Hi all, A couple of people are trying to convince me to come to FOSDEM in Belgium at the end of February. I''m a bit hesitant because I''ve been doing so much travel, but LinuxConf.au was a great experience and seems to have really helped get exposure to Puppet. There seems to be a pretty strong European contingent of Puppet users, and it''d be great to meet

Q: Suggestions for long-term data/program storage policy?
Dear list, we are a statistical/epidemiological departement that - after a few years of rapid growth - finally is getting around to formulate a general data storage and retention policy - mainly to ensure that we can reproduce results from published papers/theses easier in the future, but also with the hope that we get more synergy between related projects. We have formulated what we

Installing packages from command line on Linux RHEL4
Greetings. I am a System Administrator, and thus have very little knowledge of R itself. I have been asked to install a list of some 200 packages (from CRAM) to R. Rather than installing each package manually, I was hoping I could script this. I've written a BASH script that hopefully will do this, but I'm wondering about the Mirror Selection portion of the installation process.

USB Serial Port receives no data
Hello, I have an application that sends data out to a serial port, then should receive the reply. After some hassles I got the application to enumerate the serials (in a dialog box where you select the port), and after creating the link in dosdevices (in lower case I should note, wine will not recognize COM1) it actually starts sending out data (verified using a terminal on the other end). But

Keep lossing wireless - ipw3945
Sunday I updated my kernel to 128.1.16 (I had to reboot so it was time to update). No problems with wireless in my home. Monday I started traveling to IEEE 802 plenary, and I have lost my wireless numerous times needing to reboot. The symptom is the radio light goes off. Back before the kernel update, this would happen sometimes at home while on battery, and I would just press the

Diagnosing random hangs
I have many different centos machines that are hanging regulary. I believe this is due to something our application is doing - not a centos specific problem. When the machines hang, there is no access to the console or remote access(ssh, rsh, etc). Any tips on debugging this issue? It is becoming quite a show stopper as we migrate our product from Solaris to Linux. tia, FYI - The

Googling this (specifically the nvidia-bug-report line below) doesn't find anything. This is a server (console is text only, no GUI), so we may not need x11 nor nvidia, I dunno for sure.
