Multiple copies of a message
I have a problem and I don't know which part of the mail chain could be
causing it, although dovecot does seem to be the most logical source.
I get multiple copies of messages to my Inbox. I have just deleted 24 copies
of a newsletter from Computer Shopper. The worst example I have seen of this
had more than 90 copies. This doesn't happen to any subfolder of Inbox, just

OT-ish: GPG problem
I'm asking here because it is the best resource I know for knowledgeable
people. The problem in question occurs on my Fedora 9 box and Fedora 10
netbook, while another person, Chris, has the problem on a Mandriva 2009 box.
Whatever is causing it, that leads me to think that it's not distro-specific.
Both of us are using kmail.
Kgpg sees and lists all the keys on my keyring.

smbd crash with share security
Hello,
I am experiencing an issue on Mandriva 2007.1 (samba 3.0.24) where smbd
crashes as soon as a guest connection attempt is made for a single
file share:
icho@hiker ~ $ smbclient //192.168.200.2/data
Password:
Domain=[FONET] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.0.24]
Server not using user level security and no password supplied.

KOrganizer problems
My file/print/mail server is CentOS. My laptop is Mandriva 2008.0. I have
smb shortcuts loaded by fstab to give instant access to my home directory and
a data directory on the server. All was working well, after some initial
problems with firewall and selinux, until yesterday.
After finding from the logs that someone was trying to get into my imap server
I decided that, although they

DHCP Failure screws up system
Maybe someone could point in the right direction.
I have a small facility that's running around 40 Polycom 301/501 phones,
Asterisk 1.4.18 running under Mandriva 2007.1.
The phones were assigned a DHCP address in the 10.10.10.x range. Today,
the DHCP server failed and to get them back online, I loaded the
dhcp-server onto another system (Also running Mandriva) and copied the

Wine problems
Hello everyone,
My name is Jason and I'm new to this mailing list, although I've been
using Wine for several months now. I say that loosely, as I really
haven't been able to get many applications to run, so I come to all of
you now seeking help.
One of the biggest reasons I try to use Wine is to play games. I tried
Cedega about a month ago, and couldn't get most of my Windows

Two versions of Wine ?
From a complete Wine newbie:
I use Wine to run apps related with GPS receivers.
I have upgraded from 0.9.33 which came with Mandriva 2007.1 Spring to 0.9.46
from WineHQ.
Net result, the Garmin Mapsource app now loads and runs perfectly, which it
did not do before.
But GPSMapEdit, which worked before, no longer does.
Question: is it possible to have to versions of Wine installed, and use one

exit code for vanished files in 2.6.9
I am using rsync 2.6.9 (as currently packaged in Mandriva 2007.1)
Ever since the latest update of the package I have been getting an exit
code of 23 with the output "file has vanished: {filename}".
For partial transfers due to vanished files, I (and my script) would
expect exit code 24.

Another security question
I would like to be able to check my bank account while we are on holiday. I
know the bank's site is encrypted from the start - the login page is https and
Verisign-trust encrypted - but is there any risk in using public wireless
networks for jobs like this? It sounds secure enough, but maybe I'm
paranoid....

This is a small home LAN - two boxes running Mandriva 2005LE, four assorted
windows boxes and one box running Mandrake 10.0, with samba giving file
and print services to the rest. The box called 'david' is the samba client
that is my workhorse, and on which I am seeing the problem (although it

The way things used to work...
Hello all,
As I was instructed on #samba IRC channel, I will start new discussion here,
about samba and a way it works.
I might call myself an experienced Linux user, and self thought admin, so
things in Linux are not so new to me, but lacking proper (certified)
education, I still tend to roam around issues with trial&error method.
Regarding samba, it is translated in my attempt to make

Another permissions problem?
The rebuild server is now almost complete. Dovecot is running, and I can
telnet and log in. In kmail on this workstation I have created an imap
account, for which Inbox was created. I also created Trash and sent-mail as
top-level folders, and they display correctly with the cur, new and tmp
sub-folders on the server. I now want to create subfolders of Inbox, and
there I'm coming

SOLVED? HELP! After upgrade, can't get at my shares
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Commented this out in the homes share and the problem went away:

What happened:
1. I rarely ever do upgrades. Since I keep good backups, I almost
always do clean installs. Keeps me honest with the backups for one
thing. Anyway, under these conditions Mandriva will sometimes assume
that any subdirectory under /home is

a lot off nmbd
Hello,
I have installed a new server with mandriva 2007 free edition, with
samba 3.0.23d on it.
It is good but a new nmbd appears every 5 minutes and they don't die
when I stop samba.
So, I compiled samba 3.0.24 and ... idem.
This is not my first install, on my other servers they're only 2 nmbd.
With this install, after one day, I have more than 250 daemons, it is
the hell !

Can't send mail through new server
I thought I had just about got the old server to the point of being
switched off. I have been reading from the dovecot server for a couple
of days, and this evening I switched the 'sending' to the new server as
well - but I couldn't get anything out. I got:

What's special about port 19842?
I've had umpteen IPs knocking on this door yesterday. The router blocked
them, so it's not a problem, but why that port?

Forte Agent windowing problem
Forte Agent newsreader on Wine 1.0 on Mandriva 2008.1.
If I close Agent and then re-open it, its inner newsreader pane becomes
dislodged as a floating section in a scrollable window. The following
image (size 29k) shows what I mean. The top image is before closing and
the lower image is after re-opening.

Shorewall in Mandriva
Hi Tom and folks,
Mandriva is shipping shorewall in its main distribution for some time
now. It is built on a custom .spec, but I keep it in sync with latest
versions of shorewall package.
I heard that there were some issues with Mandriva''s package of
shorewall, but it was before I started working on it, and the guys that
were maintaining it before are no longer working on it.
