I'm confused a bit about the following and was hoping to get some answers on this group - What is exactly implied when we say asterisk can connect to a PSTN. Does it mean connecting to the PSTN via PRI/T1/E1? If yes, then I assume asterisk does not need to do any SS7 signaling and all it does (playing the role of a PBX) is to connect to a Class 5 Switch at the CO. Is this a correct statement?

I have two questions for the group. #1 - I'm looking to use some GSM SIM cards with my Asterisk PBX. Can anyone recommend a gateway? I need about 10-15 SIM slots. #2 - I'm also looking to connect Asterisk to an SS7 signaled DS1 (24 channels) for inbound and outbound voice calls. Can anyone offer any suggestions for cards to use there?

Hi, I'm looking into support for SS7 and I found an article (http://www.openss7.com/news13022002.html) which says that OpenSS7 supports Linux Support Inc's T400P-SS7 Quad T1 and E400P-SS7 Quad E1 PCI interface cards. It also says that Linux Support Inc is the primary sponsor of Asterisk. However I cannot find these cards on the Asterisk hardware page
