IMAP Voicemail -- HELP! Asterisk not playing Greeting!
I'm using Asterisk 1.4.13, the latest released version. The linux platform
is FC7.
I setup my Asterisk server to use IMAP storage. Dovecot is the IMAP
server. Its storing messages perfectly--no problems.
I should also mention that I'm using MySQL for real-time configuration.
That must be working (at least partially), because I can authenticate v.
the voicemail table.
However, the

Custom voicemail extension greeting
Making custom "voicemail greetings" seems fairly straight forward, and I've done it.
However, I'm looking for a way to make the actual extension answer with "You've reached my Jim Dandy voice mailbox, go take a flying . . .". (OK, so maybe not), instead of "The person at extension xxxx, is unavailable"
Possible? Easy? Under my nose?

Sipgate > DTMF not detected
I raised an issue with Sipgate because my Asterisk 1.6 plain refuses to
recognize digits pressed on a keypad coming in from a Sipgate trunk.
There answer was to set this:
dtmfmode=rfc2833
in the general section of sip.conf
This has made no difference. I've tried a range of settings (auto,
rfc2833,info) but no matter what, it plain refuses to pick up key
presses.
Locally, if I call from an

VoiceMail greetings
Hello everybody,
I'm using Asterisk ( 1.6.1.9 ) Voicemail.
For example, if i call extension *11 which is not registered, from
extension *12, i have no greetings at all, i only have the "please

I tried to record the busy, unavailable and temporary greetings for
extension *11 using VoiveMailMain and the file are well created on the
file system.

Voicemail vm-intro played even when temp greeting is setup
Hi there,
I am configuring a small voicemail server and I am facing the following
problem.
Executing this command: exten => 1234,1,VoiceMail(${NUMBER}@test)
When a user does not have a customized temporary greeting vm-intro message
is played asking for the message to the user but when the user has already a
temporary greeting both the temporary greeting and vm-intro are played.

Is this bad hardware? Dahdi-v-X100 clone
I've spent a week playing with Asterisk 1.6 and I love it. What a
brilliant piece of software!
Progress and learning have been reasonably good. I have external SIP
provider calls coming in and have put together a little call platform
and I'm stunned at the flexibility.
There is one issue for me. I took me a while to click that ZAPTEL now
equals Dahdi, but now I'm there I have an

Voicemail greeting playback issues?
Hey all
I have been beating on this all weekend long.
Any feed back would be appreciated.
We stood up a 11.6 system. We tested everything we could think of.
We moved over to it and all seemed to be working good than a customer told
us that they were not hearing our vociemail greetings.
When we call into the system and it drops to voicemail we just get a beep
no greeting played. We checked

High capacity voicemail
Hi,
Does anybody has experience with high capacity PSTN voicemail and
asterisk, running more then 5k mailboxes for PSTN users ?
How many mailboxes can I serve with 4xE1 card if we assume that we
have enough harddrive
capacity. What would be server requirements. Would the CPU load be the
same when storing
voicemails in gsm format as compresing to gsm for ip calls ?
Any hints would be greatly

Voicemail and OSX 10.4 Intel
Hello;
I have a problem with voicemail and my asterisk 1.2.1 on a OS X Mac
Pro intel box.
When I try to record a message from an incoming call or a greeting
message from internal phone using voicemail, It's like something is
not doing well. I can heard anything, only a distorsion sound that is
equal to lenght of the message left.
First I thoug that could be something with format=gsm|wav.

voicemail check for busy message
Is there a way to check to see if a user has recorded a busy message? If
they haven't I would prefer to send them to "u" and play their unavailable
greeting. I know I can send them to "u" in both cases, but I would like to
send them to "b" if a recorded busy greeting exists.
Thanks!

help with broken voicemail
I can not figure out what the heck is going on. I went back to my old
version and I still get errors when the voicemail system tries to load
any of the greetings, unavail messages, etc. the normal voicemail
prompts work, but any user recording don't work. Leaving a new message
appears to work, but the system wont replay them, it throws errors.
Here is an example of the errors:

Creating new voicemail accounts
I have googled this one to death, and can't find anything.
I added a number of new users to my asterisk (current CVS) system. I am
using the "Voicemail2" family.
I added entries in extensions.conf and voicemail.conf for my new users,
and I have tested leaving and retrieving new voicemails for them. All
of this works fine.
But if one of the new users tries to "Administer

Help with voicemail
Hi list!
My problem: I have three extensions in my Asterisk 1.8.30.0 and they have a
voicemail.
On two of these numbers the voicemail works without any problem, on the other
it doesn't...
I get this error:
[Oct 17 17:01:29] WARNING[14700]: channel.c:5254 set_format: Unable to find a codec translation path from 0x100 (g729) to 0x2 (gsm)

dahdi-channels.conf -v- chan_dahdi.conf
Some recent issues I had with hardware seem to come back to not
understanding two very similarly named files:
/etc/asterisk/dahdi-channels.conf
/etc/asterisk/chan_dahdi.conf
I've modified the chan_dahdi.conf to work now, but it would appear all I
needed to do was include dahdi-channels.conf in chan_dahdi.conf and the
problem would not have persisted? Is it me or is that a bit Monty
Python?

IMAP voicemail using subfolders fails.
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I am running 1.6.0.15 and am trying to get IMAP storage working. I
have had no trouble doing so, except that I wish to create a subfolder
in my account for voicemail, such that I have:
#voicemail/
INBOX
Old
Family
Friends
Work
I can set IMAPFOLDER=#voicemail.INBOX in voicemail.conf and successfully
get voicemail to work as expected.

Voicemail file
Hi all,
When somebody leaves a message in the voicemailbox, is there a way to know the file name of it?
I need to return the voicemail file name in the deadagi command.
Thanks,

SIP transfer/REFER to voicemail problem
I've google for hours trying to find a discussion of a similar problem as the
one I'm having, so forgive me if this has come up before. If it has, please
point me in the right direction!
The problem occurs when a caller (A) is transferred by an intermediary party
(B) to voicemail (Voicemail or VoicemailMain), either directly or by being
taken to voicemail when the callee (C) doesn't

However, I cannot call voicemail - I get the following error:
