dll override for select apps only
I've been experimenting with Wine on Ubuntu Edgy. I installed WinRAR, and when it didn't work, I looked at this page: http://frankscorner.org/index.php?p=winrar350 First I copied the required dll (comctl32.dll) over from Windows to the program dir (not the Wine windows dir), then tried to add it via winecfg, simply entering the name in the dialog. Then Winecfg couldn't start again. I

Wine - How to copy files with File Manager?
Situation: I've bottlered WinRAR with WineBottler (Mac OS X). Firstly, after running Wine.app, it asked my to update to 1.1.43 version, so I've accepted it. The update was fine and then I proceeded to the bottlering of WinRAR. The app is working well and I didn't have to install any additional winetrick. However, theres a problem: I need to copy a file into this bottle, but the bottle

Samba-Share and problems with archives and CRC-Check
Hello Samba-Team, I have some problems with Samba and winrar-archives. Everytime I save a winrar-archive (don't know what happens to zip-archives...) on a samba-share and execute it (on W2K) I get errors like "CRC-Error. The file may be corrupt...". Also copying the file to W2K first and then executing brings the same error-message. Without saving the .rar-archive to samba (only

NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID error
Hello everyone, I have a Samba setup with an AD controller (DC01) and set up a second system which should work as file share (filesrv01). I was setting it up using this manual: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_Share_Using_Windows_ACLs Somehow, I broke the administrator's account. After I set up a test share, I got RPC server unavailable errors. I started investigating and

. Re: Java animations, Google Earth flashing with Compiz
Dear Dotan, The problem of flashing/flickering in 3D apps/ videos with Xv enabled on account of non-redirection is limited to AIGLX and not an issue at all with XGL and compiz. fglrx till date has many mem leaks and crappy 3d performance on linux especially with compiz enabled. If you want to use these apps with compiz, for now use XGL. Else just disable compiz temporarily when

Re: Wine / Google Earth network issue
Oddly enough, winetricks msxml3 is enough to get the direct download installer to work, see http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19745 The Google Updater installer doesn't work for me regardless, though, see http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16189

Google Earth: WINEDEBUG=+relay makes wine-preloader <defunct>
Hello! Using the latest cvs version Google Earth finally installs without using native DLLs. As it does not run I'm trying to find out why. When running it, GE stops with a message box apologizing for not working. So I'd like to run it in winedbg, but I only get WineDbg starting on pid 0xa Process of pid=0x0000000a has terminated and not the friendly box. Perhaps GE uses some kind

I'm running Debian Sarge on a ASUS CUW(E)-FX motherboard (Intel 810 Chipset) and Gnome 2.10.2 inteface. Thanks for any help. Best regards, Antonio -- Ant?nio Olinto Biologist /

Google Earth - displays nothing, moans about graphics card
I have installed Google Earth under wine 0.9.5, using winetools 0.9jo-III. I believe it is going quite well - it tells me I have an unrecognised graphics card and asks me to log in when the form appears. The program appears and, since installing the mozilla ActiveX , just sits there with nothing showing in the main display area. I am wondering if it is possible for me to get any further. --

Google Earth & wine_cvs-20060318
Hi everybody, i am experiencing textures problems in google earth. I should say i never managed to use it since my first try, with wine-0.9.6. the app installs nicely, and actually runs pretty well.... except the earth in the render window is always desperately black. Everything does work, i can "fly" and make the earth turn (i see the stars moving) but the earth surface is just black.
