hotdesk and voicemail
We have several types of phones, cisco 7940/7960 aastra 55i/9113i/ grandstream gxp2010 I want to be able to implement hotdesking where an agent will logon to any phone. I got all of that working, without having to reboot phones, but then hit a brick wall. Voicemail. I still want each phone to use the BLF for voicemail indication, and to use the "voicemail button" to dial

cisco 7940 and auto-answer (aastra 480i vs 7940)
Having scoured the web, I still am no better off .. I have 2 Aastra480i's , and 120+ cisco 7940's :) . I am trying to decide which model to use going forward when we purchase more kit. They both seem much on a par regarding features. Q1: Is there anyway of making the cisco auto-answer _without_ having to manually edit the configuration on each phone ? I've been able to get the

Questions about static
Using an Asterisk system running 1.2 with Aastra phones. Would be a cause of static for inbound/outbound and ext to ext calls? Its voip both in and out. We swapped, phones, cordes, switches etc?.. Typically a reboot of the phone resolves the problem?person also swears there is nothing on or near their desk to cause interference (microwave, cell phone is purse). Strange?? Thanks

Double-ring tone
I upgraded my Cisco7960 to SIP 8-2 from 7-4. Everything seems ok, works fine. Except that when I make an outbound call, I get a double-ring sound. I also found that if the target number is engaged, I get a ring sound and at the same time get a busy sound. If I revert back to 7-4, there is no problem. Anyone else had this, or any clues on how to fix it ? All of our other phones are still on

aastra 9133i DTMF tones
Hey - I know there's some other people out there that have the 9133i ... has anyone gotten the DTMF tones to work after the far side picks up? I didn't have any problems out of the box with my SPA-841 phones... the aastra has been nicer so far, but I can't seem to get it to dial the touch tones after an auto-answer device picks up on the far side... I googled, to no avail. -Karl

Good phone near $125
I was looking at the aastra 9133i, however I was informed that this phone is no longer supported. What are good phones around the $100 - $125 price point? (Need POE) Thanks, David Ruggles CCNA MCSE (NT) CNA A+ Network Engineer Safe Data, Inc. (910) 285-7200 david at safedatausa.com

Grandstream 2010 and blinky lights
I am using 1.4, and have the above device, and it worked really well with monitoring 18 "hints" aka devices. Now, I've moved us to a hotdesking paradigm where the user is the "extension" not the device. IOW if I dial 1234, I will get user 1234 (who happens to log on to device ABC today, and DEF tomorrow). Can I make the GXP monitor user 1234, not extension 1234 ?

Aastra 9133i and NAT: Can it work?
I've been pulling out my hair all day on this one. If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it. :-( I've got an Aastra 9133i (with the latest firmware version) and a Cisco 7960 sitting behind a NAT device on my LAN. The Asterisk server is hosted offsite and has a public IP address. I've set up port-forwarding on the firewall for both phones to tunnel the SIP messages initiated

How many lines do you use.
Just for some information really : How many of you use multiple sip lines on a phone ?. I'm sitting here looking at my 7960, with it's 6 lines. I've every only used one line, and I was wondering if I was a weirdo ;) The only time I've ever found a use was when I had two systems (production and test) and it caused so much grief (could have been asterisk or cisco) I simply use a

FW: Re: Fw: anybody has SIP realtime working ?
Actually, I have tested this here with an Aastra 9133i and an Asterisk@Home server, and the 9133i will re-subscribe on its own after an Asterisk reboot, if you wait long enough. It took on the order of an hour to do so. Of course, a phone reboot will get it done faster, if necessary, but it _will_ eventually re-subscribe on its own. In another thread, I've seen a response that the GXP2000

SIP hardphones with xml/html/xhtml/microbrowser support?
What hardphones support xml/html/xhmtl/microbrowser? I need an inexpensive SIP hardphone that can run simple applications (queue status, etc). The phones I know of: Aastra 480i, 9112i, 9133i (though limited by 3 LCD lines on the 91xx seems kind of silly) Cisco 79xx Mitel 5235 Polycom IP601 Any others? -Dan

Can't register to Asterisk 1.6 with old Aastra phones
We have a new customer with a lot of old phones like the 9133i. They won't register, and we see some very strange behavior with them. If the SIP peer exists, they simply fail silently, with no error in the CLI or the messages log. Nothing works, but no errors. If the peer does not exist, it's clear that it's registering improperly: [2013-04-28 13:34:31] NOTICE[3058] chan_sip.c:

What business IP phone to use
I have been struggling with this issue for about a year now. There were just too many IP phones to choose from at all sorts of price points and not enough information about any of them. Now I am looking at the situation again and if anything it has gotten worse. There are even more phones and all sorts of opinions. For every person that says phone x is great there is someone else complaining

Queues
Hello Everyone, I'm looking for help/ideas on how to do the following: I have a couple of people out of many (the couple of people randomly change) who log into an "on-call" queue. A call comes in and it rings the "on-call" extensions, but no one answers. I would like the call to then try the cell-phones of just the people that are logged into the "on-call"

Asterisk behind a PIX firewall?
Is there anything special that anyone here has had to do to get an Aastra phone (on the Internet) to talk to Asterisk behind a PIX firewall? Ports 10000-20000 UDP are open on the PIX and forwarding to the Asterisk server. The Asterisk server's RTP.CONF is set to use 10000-20000. The phone registers, and will place AND receive calls, however, no audio is passed. The phone is an Aastra
