SIP/WiFi handsets?
Anyone know of any *portable* SIP/WiFi handsets? Looking for a decent
price:quality ratio, of possible. Keep seeing handsets for Vonage, etc.,
in Best Buy and the like, but I imagine it's locked to Vonage, and can't
be re-appropriated.
Thanks!

Can No Longer Join to Domain
I have Samba 3.0.24 running on CentOS 4 as a PDC with an LDAP backend.
When I first set everything up, I could join workstations to the domain
automatically with the Windows Network ID Wizard. Now when I try to
join a workstation I get:
Your computer could not be joined to the domain because the
following error has occurred:
The user name could not be found.

Enforce Strong Passwords LDAP PDC
I've scoured the mailing list archives and the internet...has anyone
actually figured out how to enforce strong passwords when using Samba
and LDAP as a PDC?
My users are allowed to change their Windows XP passwords, how do I
enforce the use of strong passwords (either locally or globally)?

SERIOUS PROBLEM - Root Account Locked
My root account keeps getting locked out automatically. I am running
Samba 3.0.25b on a CentOS server, as PDC with LDAP backend. I have
accounts set to lock after 8 un-successful login attempts. I zeroed out
the bad password count, and then in less than a few seconds the account
gets locked again and a /pdbedit -Lv -u root /yields the following:

Domain Member Server passdb Migration/Change
Hi,
We have a linux/samba only domain serving files to about 16-18 Windows
clients (mostly XP, a few W2K).
PDC:

samba 2.2.8a
openldap 2.1.4
Domain Member Server
Fedora Core 1
samba 3.0.10
Currently the Domain Member Server uses the default passdb backend
(/etc/samba/smbpasswd). Each user in the ldap directory on the PDC has a

receptionist - large number of concurrent calls - example needed
Hello,
Can anyone provide me with an example of how they have set up their dialplan
and handset for a receptionist desk that handles a large volume of
concurrent calls? I'm having a problem with transferring calls while
several calls are either answered or coming into a receptionist's telephone
at the same time.
Thanks, Colin

Cannot change expired password
I have a samba PDC set up and configured. I have been doing tests and
everything was working fine. I was able to set "User must change
password" to today's date and it would prompt the user that their
password has expired when logging into windows xp. I could then enter a
new password and be on my way. Now when I set the password to "User must
change password", when I

Receptionist phone
Newbie question alert!
I was just wondering how a receptionist phone would work with Asterisk.
(I've never had a real job, so I've never really looked at different
phone systems).
I have looked around on the internet and seen that you can purchase 24
line phones; how does that get connected?
What kind of wiring goes to the reception phone?
How would I go about adding one of these to an

Receptionist SNOM-360
Hi to all,
I got an Asterisk with 2 BRI(7 pstn numbers and 4 concurrent calls)
and 15 SIP extensions.
The receptionist has a SNOM-360.
How many SIP accounts would you configure on that phone?
Only one would be enough?
One SIP account, has a limit on concurrent calls?
I saw that the SNOM-360 can handle up to eleven SIP accounts.
Thanks

Dialing Ring Groups from the Digital Receptionist-
Hi!
I've got a number of extensions (about 50) on a working Asterisk setup.
For each user, I have two extensions configured (for example 11021 for a
Cisco 79XX phone and 11022 for X-Lite), and a ring group that ties the
two extensions together (for example, 1102). Reason being that if the
user is away from his/her desk or working offsite, they can answer the
soft phone on the PC.

Read Back Caller ID Using Number Announcement in Digital Receptionist
I would like to setup an option in my digital receptionist that callers
can select to hear a read back of their Caller ID. It would be something
like, "the number you are calling from is...". I think I can reuse the
festival script that is built in, but ideally this could be accomplished
without using festival because Allison's voice is so much more pleasant.

receptionist application for asterisk?
I've tried searching the archives but come up empty.
I'm looking for a "receptionist" application, that could be used
in a business center. Lots of different incoming phone numbers
(200+), all need to be answered in a different way, by a human.
This is typically enabled with a terminal of some form that pops
up the company and contact information for the called number, and

Strange network file access behavior
I have a Samba PDC and a file server (domain member). They are both
running CentOS 4, with Samba3-3.0.24-30 and LDAP 2.3 (on PDC). Domain
authentication seems to be running fine and file access on the file
server works also. I have one share on the file server that gives me
trouble. Whenever I access files from this one directory, the network
seems to lock up for close to a minute. I get 64%

SIP Phone recommendation for Receptionist
Hi there,
I've got an installation where there's 12 POTS line incoming into *, and
am trying to get some insight as to which VoIP hard phone would be most
suitable for this scenario.
Most of the VoIP phones I've looked at only have 4-6 line presentations;
is anyone aware of one that has more? I tried to get some info about

Strange Mail Problem
I submitted this question to the Postfix maillist and they suggested
that I post to this one.
Here's my issue:
I have a Postifx email system running on a CentOS 4 box, with Dovecot
pop3 and imap. Last week, one of my users reported to me that about a
dozen emails suddenly showed up in his in box (as unread messages), but
none of them were addressed to him. Under further investigation,
