Internet Explorer 6 Setup & App DB
Hi,
some time ago (around 7. May 2006) there was a coment in the App DB to get the
setup of Internet Explorer 6 working. The Coment was about removing some dll
names from the wine.inf file.
The coment was removed from the App DB, but the setup still fails for me with
current cvs (~2 hours ago).
Therefore i like two know two things:
- does anyone remember which lines needs to be removed

Internet Explorer installs under wine as default Win2K but then crashes when run...
I want to run Internet Explorer as Win2K at the very least so I might be able
to get updates, trying to keep up with security fixes... this might be a pipe
dream?
I would rather not run anything as Win98 if I can help it...
In any case, what I did was, from a clean install of Wine 0.9 on Fedora Core
4, ran
[user@localhost ~]$ wine

internet support
I have installed wine through my debian testing release.
All I want is to run IE6 for I am a web developer. I tried some tips I
found. I installed dcom98.exe and run ie6setup.exe
It seems wine can't connect to the internet and download the files
needed. How can I have inet support on wine? (My linux box is connected
through ethernet card to the net).

Can't install IE6
Using wine 0.9.58 on Ubuntu 8.04
Like an idiot, I tried to install IE7 before doing the research to find that IE6 was more ideal with far fewer problems. So after attempting to install IE7 and failing, I tried to install IE6, but in the terminal I get this response after typing wine ie6setup.exe:
Warning: the specified System directory L"C:\\windows\\system32" is not accessible.

An interesting development:
Running it from the home directory didn't help, but
running it, letting it fail, then running it again
works (regardless of location). The installer
finishes ok, and places all the files in Program
Files/Internet Explorer.

IE6 with Wine 0.9.12
Hello.
I'm looking for a howto to get IE6 installed on Wine 0.9.12.
I googled some, but I can't find any *recent* documentation
on how to get IE installed with Wine 0.9.12 - I only find
outdated information from 2005 or 2003.
First, I downloaded ie6setup.exe for 6_sp1 in English from

Installing Wordview with Winetools
Dear friends:
I am pleased to say that I successfully installed Internet Explorer
Sp1 on my Linux (Scientific Linux 4.0, which is based on RHEL 4)
using Wintools.
After installing IE6, I thought installing WordView (the Word97
word view program) would be a snap. But instead Wintools failed
to install it in several attempts. It started, downloaded the file and
tried to install it. But at

help with 20050830
I am having some, what I would consider to be, strange problems with this
release. Hope someone can clue me in. Nothing about this in Bugzilla.
Fedora core 4, wine compiled from tarball download. Did ./tools/wineinstall,
added /usr/local/lib to /etc/ld.so.conf; /sbin/ldconfig
executing winecfg gives:
err:wave:OSS_WaveOutInit open(/dev/mixer1) failed (No such file or directory)
