Do I need to defile my machine, or is there a simple work-around
I am trying to install Microchip's MPLab package (a set of tools for
working with PIC microcontrollers) with the latest Wine from CVS (at
least, latest as of yesterday morning).
I've been running Wine for a while, so I already have an existing Wine
registry. I don't have a Windows install on the machine.
The installer (InstallShield) unpacks, runs, and then pops up a dialog

how or where to put .dll and .inf from an installerless driv
As the title suggests, i have a app that i need to install.
It is a usb driver for a pic+pro pic micro programmer.
The control program that came with the programmer installed fine. however, the usb driver it needs didn't install with it. The manufacturer relies on windows "add hardware" function to install the driver. Is there any way around this?
The disk has two folders on it,

MPLAB under wine
I have this working on one computer but not the other. Both are running Debian etch, although one is on a slightly older kernel which I can't change for many reasons. Anyway,
the program is mplab and it installs perfectly, but when I try to run it the following errors are generated
~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Microchip/MPLAB IDE/Core$ ./MPLAB.exe
Invoking /usr/lib/wine/wine.bin

Deprecating the experimental microMIPS64R6 backend
Hi all,
I plan to deprecate the experimental microMIPS64R6 backend for the 5.0 release
and remove it after the release.
Currently there are no CPUs that use that particular sub-ISA which makes it difficult
to justify the maintenance and parallel development effort.
If there was a CPU design produced that did use microMIPS64R6, the backend could
be restored from the archive.
Any comments or

Windows program calling another program
I saw a discussion that looked exactly like the issue that I'm having,
but turned out to be a divide by zero error instead. I apologize if
this issue as already been addressed.
I am trying to run an IDE called MPLAB(v7.20) under wine(v20050524).
I can get the IDE up and it will successfully call another program
called mpasmwin.exe which assembles the file. This mpasmwin program

Windows XP and SAMBA: "file changed" popup
Following issue only occurs on a Windows XP system (it doesn't happen on
Windows 7)
I have Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick) server with samba 3.5.4. The server has a
samba share and another PC (which has Windows XP as operating system) is
connected to that share through a network drive. On the share, there are PHP
files which can be changed by a developer. The files are also available by

msaccess odbc driver not working
I have problems import ms access 2000 data into Word 2000. The error is:
DDE connection failed.
Browsing the internet I found out that ms access uses ODBC for this (am
I correct?).
I have installed MDAC_TYP.EXE like in the Winehq documentation.
I think that the msaccess driver doesn't work o.k.
To reproduce: Run wine c:\windows\system\ODBCAD32.EXE

Installshield and Wine
Hi,
I should install MPLAB under Suse 10.1. This software uses Install Shield as
installer. I have Wine 0.9.11 and when I launch the setup.exe I get the
following output:

Error Number: 0x80040707

The installer just hangs.

windows opening off screen
Hi,
I'm having problems with windows which open off-screen and are thus inaccessible. Until recently, I ran my laptop with an external monitor in a dual-screen configuration. Now, I'm back to a single screen, but some wine apps appear to be trying to start up elsewhere.
So, I can verify that the program is running using ps and xwininfo:

About AVRDevice.td
Hi,
The AVRDevice.td of the AVR target seems too old, some devices like at90s have already been End-Of-Live, and some devices such as AVR DA family are not included.
It is possible to make this TD file follow current microchips device list definition ? I am glad to take this work.
1. remove EOL devices
2. add new production devices

Disappearing Text
Hi-
I recently upgraded my workstation, and in the process upgraded Wine and
X.org to the latest stable versions. Wine works fine for all my apps.
with one annoying exception. Text is not properly displayed in ListPro
(iliumsoft). ListPro is a hierarchical list manager that syncs with Palm
Pilot.
The problem is that only the first line of text is displayed in the notes
pane. The rest of the

How to help improving Wine?
Hi,
I really did my best to understand how I can help improving Wine, but I did
not succed.
Well, everything started when I installed a win application on my Debian 3.1,
Wine 2004.07.16 deb (clean install, no dlls).
The application is ALOHA (http://www.epa.gov/ceppo/cameo/aloha.htm)
It's a free application from US-Environment Protection Agency used for
chemical emergency planning (I am an
