Asterisk and V.22bis
Hi, I would like to send and receive data in Asterisk with a V.22bis (2400bps) software modem on a SIP or IAX channel. From research so far, it looks like IAXmodem will only support fax (no data support). The spandsp docs do mention V.22bis modem module, but I have not been able to find anything on how it might be used in Asterisk. Any suggestions on where I could get more info on

MultiTech MT5634ZBA usb modems
Everyone, I have a centos 5.10 machine set up to be a fax server using hylafax+ with three multitech MT5634ZBA modems. I am still in the testing phase of using this system for production, and during my tests I have detected a problem I have not been able to solve except for unplugging the modem from the usb port and plugging it back into the usb port. In the middle of a fax production of

Fax modems and Samba
I am running an FC 2 server with Samba 3.0.10. It is serving files and is PDC for several WinXp workstations. There is now a demand to be able to fax from the WinXP workstations, and I'm trying to figure the best way to set up a modem pool on the server and make them available to the workstations. Is that best handled as some kind of resource share through Samba? How would that be

Modems compatible with NTL caller id
I'm looking at using a modem to provide caller ID info on my NTL line following the steps in the article posted by Darren Poulson: http://www.22balmoralroad.net/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=1 I was wondering if anybody had experience of using any modems (can be pci/isa/external) with an ntl line (in an ex. Cable & Wireless area if it makes a difference) and

PCI modems
Hi all, I'm currently searching for a PCI modem that will be used to receive faxes. I've tried out a few modems but they all use conexant chipsets, which need out-of-tree kernel drivers and currently doesn't work here (kernel oops when the installation script modprobes the driver). Does anyone know of a PCI modem that works out of the box with in-tree kernel drivers? Thanks,

Modems supported by Asterisk
Which modems are supported by Asterisk for full-duplex (as a VoIP-PSTN gateway) operations? I've tried Asmax Mustang (based on TI RK 56000 chipset) but it's 4-bit only, also tried Zoltrix on Rockwell 56k chipset, hacked a lil' bit chan_modem_aopen (so it chooses 7200Hz instead of 8000), sound was 'understandable' but only one-way :/ .Does anybody has experience in using

Asterisk with Intel modems 537 or MD3200
I've just give a look to the website http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+Hardware If I understand very well, the Intel modems marked with 537 or MD3200 chipset should work with Asterisk ?! If it is true, I'd like to know how to configure Asterisk ? Thanks a lot. --------------------------------- D?couvrez le nouveau Yahoo! Mail : 1 Go d'espace de stockage pour vos mails,

spandsp <--> analogue modems?
Would it be possible to use spandsp to answer calls from normal analogue modems? I'd like to create a software modem bank in a similar fashion to my spandsp-supported fax bank. If this works I would then try to adapt it to provide me with a ppp session. Thanks, Wallace

Hylafax without modems - SIP?
I've just had to replace my Hylafax server as the cooling fan in the rack case has died and could not be replaced. Using Modems with Asterisk
Has anyone had any experience using a modem through the Asterisk system? I have some technical support personnel that need to use a computer modem to connect to a remote system for troubleshooting. Is there a SIP compliant gateway that will support a modem connection at decent speeds (minimum of 28.8) that anyone knows of? If not, has anyone used a Digium FXS card for this? Thanks

As others have said, 16kbps should do the trick. Keep in mind though that the quality of the sound will also depend on the sampling rate. MP3 will handle some higher sampling rates higher than some of
