strange tinc error with many nodes
Hello, we currently set up a large tinc network with 2 central Nodes (these nodes connecting to each other). All satellites (ca 40) connect to these both machines. All containing two ConntectTo fields (for backup) e.g. (satellite) Name = nfp_hy Device = /dev/tun PrivateKeyFile = /etc/tinc/nfp_hy/rsa_key.priv ConnectTo = nfp_f_vpn ConnectTo = nfp_c_vpn If the count of satellites reaches

Dailplan code for holiday detection?
This has been on my ToDo list far too long. I have a small call-center setup, with basic time of day/day of week validation before putting callers in the queues. With the holidays upon us, I need to add check to see if 'today' is a holiday so I do not put callers in unmanned queues. Due to how the agents work, I have to allow joinwhenempty. Does anyone have a snippet of dialplan code,

VoIP over satellite internet
Could those on the list who have used or tried to use VoIP over a satellite internet connection comment on how well it works or if it even works at all in a reliable way. What is the effect of latency on the VoIP path and how much is generally tolerable? routing via satellite adds about a quarter second of latency to the path. Is that too much? Eric

Moving from DSL to T1
I work in a small office and have fallen into the role of network support based on knowing enough about networking to be dangerous. Our office is moving from DSL to a T1. Were using Asterisk as our PBX and I'm looking for hints or resources that might help me make the transition as error free as possible. Are there well known gotchas that I shoud be aware of? Thanks in advance, Richard

Production server migration from mbox to maildir ( need advice )
Hello I'm going to change the raid array of my mailhub in fews days/weeks and I wonder if it would be a good idea to take the opportunity of this migration to also change the storage method from mailbox to maildir. I've never used maildir on my production server only on small satellites. So I really need advice of admins that use maildir format on prod servers. My server has approx

streaming: some idea's
Greetings, A couple of weeks ago, there was here a discussion about streaming. Here is two things that I would like to add to the discussion: meta-streaming and control-streaming. (Althou I do not think my ideas are that new) * First metastreaming: If you look at DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting), one of nice features (apart from it being a European standard ;-)) is the existing of a meta-stream.

Satellite Providers
Hi All, I am investigating the deployment of VoIP/* in Eastern European areas where there is no PSTN infrastructure. As you can understand DSL/Cable connections are a dream. The only option is satellite. Does anyone know of any satellite providers that have low enough/acceptable delays for VoIP? Thanks, Yiannis.

Good heavens people can we please stop throwing around words like communist and socialism. 4. Government funded research has done a lot for the US and other countries. Looking for some hardware answers, maybe someone on this list could help
I posted a thread here... http://forums.opensolaris.com/thread.jspa?threadID=596 I am trying to finish building a system and I kind of need to pick working NIC and onboard SATA chipsets (video is not a big deal - I can get a silent PCIe card for that, I already know one which works great) I need 8 onboard SATA. I would prefer Intel CPU. At least one gigabit port. That''s about it. I

Remapping Serial Keyboard Input with SYSLINUX
I have a system with a Matrix Orbital keypad (only) on ttyS0 which generates it own strange bytes when keys are pressed. Is there something similar to the KBDMAP directive but for serial input? This is a serious problem for us (i.e. we have to remap the 'L' character to be interpreted the same as an "Enter" (i.e. <cr>)) and so if there isn't a way of doing this

Force SATA1 on AOC-SAT2-MV8
I have a supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 and am having some issues getting drives to work. From what I can tell, my cables are to long to use with SATA2. I got some drives to work by jumpering them down to sata1, but other drives I can''t jumper without opening the case and voiding the drive warranty. Does anyone know if there is a system setting to drop it back to SATA1? I use zfs on a raid2 if
