Mavis Beacon crashes with page fault
Hi wine users, I am using wine 0.9.3 on Mandrake 9.2. I've just installed wine from tar.bz2 and Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing 12 Standard; the installation went fine and I'm able to run the program. I have two problems: 1. The application hard-crashes my machine when running in full-screen mode, since the app changes the screen resolution to 640x480. I had to reboot my computer so I

smbd/oplock.c:oplock_timeout_handler(375) after samba upgrade
I recently upgraded from samba 3.0.10-1.fc3 to 3.0.21b-2 running on FC5. Today was the first day of a typing class which uses the network version of Mavis Beacon Typing which depends on file sharing. The users are hanging and then getting an error message during logging into the product. In /var/log/message, I can see the following message for each user similar to: [2006/04/24

home template not expanding for winbind (repost)
Hi Repost of an earlier question, getting desperate here, Googled, searched mailing lists, but no solution yet... Anyway, I have a RH EL 3 server running Samba 3.0.7 that joins a NT 4 domain and uses winbind to enable SSO and all that good stuff. All seems fine, joins domain OK, wbinfo -u, wbinfo -g, getent passwd, getent group all seems to work fine I have home template = /home/winnt/%D/%U in

CentOS 4.5, kernel-2.6.9-55, NTPD trouble
Following the update this morning, NTP is failing with the same symptoms that I saw several years ago (pre-CentOS, I believe) when Anaconda mistakenly blessed my ASUS A7N8X, Athlon (CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+ stepping 00) based system with an SMP kernel. The symptom is that NTPD never establishes sync with a server, showing over the top jitter values. [root at mavis log]# uname -r

UP vs SMP kernel ?
There was a discussion here several days ago that was precipitated by my decision to manually install the new kernel before YUMming the upgrade to CentOS 4.2. The upgrade went south but I recovered by doing a fresh install and a bunch of copying from backups. All's well EXCEPT that I'm back in the same "box", thanks to anaconda. I set out to upgrade kernels this morning:

Dreamweaver MX 2004
Hi, Has anyone had any luck installing or getting it to run from a windows install? Basically I'm stuck at exactly the same point (I get the exact same messages and all) as http://www.winehq.org/hypermail/wine-users/2005/02/0018.html and the people who posted comments in the AppDB http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?versionId=1810. Hi, I have an ESXi server, on top of it I have created one VM whose IP address is 192.168.79.1. I want to connect to the VM on ESXi server from my host machine but I am not able to do it. I have created a network "networkforSC" and I have pasted my xml file content below but I am not able to add any uplink (how to add it?) . System Recovery
I hosed my main desktop pretty badly a couple days ago, have reconciled myself to bad news and would appreciate some advice. (CentOS 5.3 fully updated but now backed down from kernel 2.6.18-128.7.1.el5 to 2.6.18-128.4.1.el5 just to try that.) The whole debacle began when I was investigating my formerly-weekly backup script to run to completion. The backup is kept on an external

HPLIP
First, has anyone successfully installed the HPLIP driver from HP in CentOS4? Second, does that driver really provide the toolbox which includes handy stuff like ink level monitoring? I got the source RPM (hplip-0.9.4-1.1.src.rpm) from an FC4 testing mirror, which rebuilt fine on this machine: . . . + umask 022 + cd /home/rj/rpmbuild/BUILD + cd
