Toll-free dialing via PRI problem
We have a PRI from Telepacific. Asterisk 1.2 and a Sangoma A101 T1 card. Outgoing calls to certain toll-fee (8XX) numbers fail -- we hear ringing but the calls are never answered. All other calls, and most toll-free numbers are not affected. The numbers that are affected are all travel related companies (United Airlines, American Airlines, US Air, Starwood Hotels, etc.) we cannot connect to

Analog Desktop Phone
I am looking for a good analog desktop phone to use with asterisk and my sipura ATAs. I know I want Caller ID, MWI, a few programmable buttons (for asterisk features), and no external power supply (so my users can dial 911 through the SPA-3000 when the power is out). I spent some time looking at the phones at Fry's today, without finding exactly what I need. Do any of you have any

VoIP dialtone?
Hi all, While pondering my choices for local dial tone service via a bunch of POTS lines or a T1, I began to wonder if perhaps there is another way. Are there VoIP dialtone providers? That is, could I use only my internet connection for voice calls and not have a separate T1/POTS bank for that? I guess I am imagining a company that gateways between the PTSN and the internet backbone.

Dialing area question
I am wanting to perform toll bypass using multiple gateways for outgoing calls. For example, if I call from location A to location B and I have a gateway in location B I obviously want to use location B's gateway to make it a local call. I understand how to get the local prefixes from NANPA but my question is: If there are additional numbers that are local (non-toll) calls from a particular

Dial Plan Sequencing
I have an interesting dilemma with sequencing in the dialplan. Up to now, I have assumed that the extensions in the dial plan were tested in the order that they appear in extensions.conf. In other words, I have the following fragment which was designed to dial toll free on the PSTN and all other long distance on VoIP: [longdistance] include => local

Extensions.conf sugestion?
we are in process of writing a PHP interface for * conf files. we are parsing the files like INI files but the only prob I have so far is that separate extensions in a context dont have any unique tag that I can capture. This works ok [trunkld] ; ; Long distance context accessed through trunk ; exten => _91NXXNXXXXXX,1,Dial(${TRUNK}/${EXTEN:1}) exten => _91NXXNXXXXXX,2,Congestion

E911 Testing !
I believe the 911 is a serious issue if one does an asterisk installation in an office. How do you test 911? Won't they arrest you or something for dialing 911 for no reason and talking to one of their agents who could have taken a more important call? On the other hand what an emergency comes up (like someone got seriously injured) and on top of that asterisk crashed all of a sudden

RE: Answering Machine Function?
-----Original Message----- <snip> Is this possible with asterisk? Anyone have a sample dialplan? -other than the problem outlined below I would try something like S,1,wait(20) S,2,voicemail(uwhatever) S,3,hangup That should ignore the call for 20 seconds and then leave a message in the unavailable greeting for 'whatever' then hangup That leaves another problem -

Polycom 330 not dialing 4 digit extensions beginning with 11xx
I have four Polycom 330 phones connected to an asterisk system. There are other VoIP phones connected too. All of the extensions are four digits beginning with 11. From any of the phones, except the Polycom, picking up the handset to call extension 1103 for example works fine. With the Polycom 330, as I press the second 1 of 1103 it stops taking input and gives me an error. I tried

need creative solutions for number portability
I'm presently working on an office move and evaluation of telecommunications services needed at the new location. I'm presently wrastling with an issue related to portability and geography between landline carriers. Presently certain people within the organization are hopelessly in love with our 909-822-xxxx number(provided by pacbell/att). As that number is presently provisioned it

Random Disconnects
I am hoping some of you can help me troubleshoot this problem I am having with my home asterisk machine. I have incoming POTS service using a SPA-3000 (extension 119). Calls on that line go to an attendant recording that offers a menu choice: press 1 for Nancy, press 2 for the rest of us. In reality, pressing anything other than 1 sends the call to the rest of us by dialing both extensions 101

one for your filters
Some !@$#@@# in the Czech Republic used one of our SIP accounts to place four thousand calls to what appears to be a toll number in Zimbabwe last night. Filter 82.150.165.5. A more overriding problem for me is how do we know what *destinations* to filter so this idea of war dialing a toll number is something we can cutoff before it gets to our upstream provider? Is there some collected

Delay when dialing with Sipura 2000
I have a Sipura 2000 working fine, but whenever I dial any extension there is a delay of 5-10 seconds before it starts ringing. However, if I dial the extension and hit the pound key after the number, it goes through right away. Is there any way around this?

How to number extensions - Which way is best?
If this topic has been discussed already, please point me to it. I have looked, and I don't see any discussion in the past couple of months or in the wiki. When setting up your inside extensions, it can be helpful to choose the numbering carefully. Ideally, you would like it to not conflict with the dialing of an outside number. For example, the extension... 1212 Is very similar to

IAXTEL toll-free gateway
I have been playing around with asterisk for a week or so now and haven't had too much trouble getting things to work but one thing seems to puzzle me. I have been patient hoping that there was a configuration error on the server or that the toll-free gateway was down but nothing has changed. I have the following configuration context for IAXTEL: [iaxtel] exten =>

DEFAULT_USERAGENT
I work for a telecom company that allows me to peer my Asterisk box to their system for free. Pretty neat. I have everything working except that I can't get inbound VoIP calls using the DID number that my company assigned for me. Today, I finally discovered the source of the problem: For various reasons (according to the technical person who figured this out for me), the company's gear

an easy way to deal with/without leading "1" ?
I'm setting up dialplans to deal with 800 dialing through a different channel than regular long distance in the US. The regular long distance is set up so users can but don't have to dial one. That's pretty easy, just one more exten statement. But it's a pain dealing with all the 8xx area codes that are toll free. I tried exten=>exten =>

Dial through IAX to FWD
Hi.. I am trying to do something but it is giving me some hard time here. I have an IAX2 trunk to FWD which is registered and working just fine. I have => 011|. as my dial pattern to allow that. But if I want to dial a toll free number I would have to dial 011*1800XXXXXXX What trunk dial rule should I use to enable anyone to call a toll free number by simply dialing 1800XXXXXX instead of
