MixMonitor and ChanSpy whisper
Hello Asterisk list,
Hope you are all doing well!
We are using the MixMonitor application to record the calls and under some
situations the call can be spied using ChanSpy with whisper enabled.
Sometimes the spying channel is a person who can interact in the call, and
some other times it is a sound file playing a message. The problem is that
for some reason the MixMonitor does not record whatever

whisper chanspy in asterisk 1.2
Hello,
I would like to have "whisper" channel spy (not private whisper) in
Asterisk 1.2. I see here:
http://www.the-asterisk-book.com/unstable/applikationen-chanspy.html
That is only available for Asterisk 1.4.
I wonder if there is any way to emulate it in Asterisk 1.2. For example,
to "join" two calls: one to use a private whisper and other one to use
a normal chanspy.

Ring-Answer with Polycom 501 and Asterisk
Hi Guys
This has been discussed a little in the list before so my apologies for
sendig it again but I have done what others have done in the list but to no
avail.
I have configured Asterisk to send the callerID of extension phones as
"firstname lastname" and that seems to work well and extensions show calls
originating on other extensions in this format.
I set the following in

multiline IP hardphone w/ FDX speakerphone?
Could someone please recommend a reasonably priced IP phone
that works well with *, has a decent (full duplex, echo canceling)
speakerphone, has at least two line appearances, and can
transfer / conference reliably?
The Wiki lists 35 brands of hardphone, but:
1. Most seem to be toys.
2. For many, there is no info on e.g. speakerphone characteristics.
3. When one seems technically promising, e.g.

Playback during call
Hi all,
How can I playback a file within an active call?
I've tried with ChanSpy whisper mode like this (using AMI):
Action: Originate
Channel: Local/9999 at default
Priority: 0
Variable: MSG=test
Application: ChanSpy
Data: SIP/1234-123
Async: 1
and in the dialplan:
[default]
exten => 9999,1,Answer()
exten => 9999,n,Wait(2)
exten => 9999,n,Playback(${MSG})

Handsfree Speakerphone
Hi,
What is out there in terms of SIP enabled handsfree speakerphones?
Looking for something that works well and also fits a low budget.
I am used to using a Cisco 7940. It is a great phone but a bit expensive.
Thought about the Polycom SoundPoint 300 until I realized that it does not
include speakerphone functionality.
Thanks,
Adi

Auto dialing Polycoms and other SIP phones
Hi,
Is there a reliable way to auto-dial SIP phones (specifically Polycom) with
some sort of TAPI driver in Windows? I am aware of SIPTAPI, which makes the
user's phone ring, and when picked up dials the desired number, but I (and
more to the point, many of my customers) find this annoying. I'd like the
phone to autodial on speakerphone (or headset if there is one), without any

Injecting a sound file into a bridged call
Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a way to play a sound file to an already established bridged
call. It is meant for one party, but it's ok if both parties would hear it.
Ideally, I'd like to be able to trigger this from the Management Interface
with something like:
Action: Playback
File: tt-weasels
Channel: Zap/nn
However, I haven't seen anything like that being

Potential reboot problem with Polycom IP600 phones
Passing this along. I got it tonight from a friend:
Basis Technology has uncovered a potentially serious issue with the
Polycom SoundPoint IP600 SIP phones, which causes them to spontaneously
reboot at unpredictable times. It appears that if the amount of current
being delivered to the phone falls below a certain threshold, the phone
will reboot.
Here are the specific circumstances which will

Stopping chanspy followup
I am still trying to figure out a reasonable way to exit the chanspy
application in a dialplan.
For the most part I understand how things are working and there is one
change I would like to propose.
The way the 1.4.23.1 code seems to work is that if there are no channels
that match the chanprefix argument the chanspy code stays in a loop waiting
for a new channel to come into being that matches

2 way intercom recommendation for restaurant kitchens
Greetings,
I need a 2 way intercom for separate kitchens to communicate without
having to walk back and forth.
The speaker has to be loud but clear, not distorted. Sometimes the
kitchens can be noisy.
It needs to be easy to use.
It needs to be easy to clean.
It would be nice if it used POE.
Eventually I would like the kitchens to be able to dial different parts
of the restaurant when I

Aastra 480i repair?
Just found out my maintanence agreement with fonality does not cover
phones over a year old. So, of course, they don't repaird phones, only
replace them. Very worldly of them...
Anyone know where I can get an Aastra 480i repaired? The phone works on
speakerphone, but when you lift the receiver offthe hook, the phone does
not engage. There is something wrong with the "hook". The

microphone on Polycom 550/650
I have quite a number of users complaining that when they are using handsfree to talk over a landline, the other end can't hear them. It's like the person is speaking 5 feet away and can barely hear their voice. However between internal SIP calls, it's fine.
What could be the problem?

One leg in a conference and adjusting stream volume of other leg
Hi all,
I'm looking for some serious help. :) I couldn't find a better
description for my problem... I think it is quite complex! Here's what I
would like to achieve:
A SIP caller dials into to my Asterisk 10. He will automatically listen
to a specific MP3 stream.
Other SIP callers dial also into my Asterisk. They all will
automatically listen to the same MP3 stream.

Polycom SoundPoint... Gains - Which isfor speakerphone
Thanks, I was afraid to try and change gains that I didn't know what
they did simply because I don't want to blow a speaker or something.. :)
I'll try it today.
The only thing I haven't figured out is how to set a default ringer in
the configuration file, set my time to EST w/ Daylight Savings and when
receiving incoming calls if it's possible to see NAME & NUMBER instead

Polycom 330 Speakerphone
Anyone who has experience with the Polycom 330 know if the
speakerphone is loud enough to be heard in a 20 foot x 20 foot room?
The context is a classroom where announcements will need to be
made. The phone will be wall mounted at the front of classroom.
Thanks,

Polycom SoundPoint... Gains -Which is for speakerphone
John,
By chance do you know how to set a default ringer?
What I have done is the following:
<DEFAULT se.rt.1.name="Default" se.rt.1.type="ring"
se.rt.1.ringer="7" se.rt.1.callWait="6" se.rt.1.mod="1"/>
As you can see, I want 7 to be the default ringer for line 1... For some
reason, it doesn't take these changes.
