Accessing a CD with securom leads to exception
Hello wineusers, devs and all other people, i have some sort of strange problem with wine. I installed Warcraft III and Securom did not work. That's why i have to use fixed .exe-files to play without the machine to complain about the missing CD-ROM. at first i thought this happens because the wine-version in debian sid is fairly old. But after compiling a wine from CVS with that

Running with an iso image
Hi, I am trying to run a program (Diablo 2) from an iso image of the disc rather than the disc itself. I used mkisofs to create the image, then I mounted it on /mnt/virtualcd. I can't get Diablo 2 to recognize it, though. First I create a new drive in winecfg, e:, and made that /mnt/virtualcd, but when I ran Diablo 2 it said it couldn't detect the CD. So then I removed e: and changed

About the web forums and why it's just a waste of time
This is a big of a nag, but mostly truth. Hear me out. Most of users' problem with the email is the lack of spiffy graphics. I don't understand why people rant and rave onver the email because it doesn't have spiffy graphics. Also, this extends to HTML formatting. They want to be able to use god awful formatting and colors and fonts that make your stomach churn, or at least hurt

Quicken Home & Office 2002
First, let me apologize if this has been asked/answered numerous times, but I cannot seem to find a searchable mailing list archive for wineusers. After a 1.5 year break from trying to get quicken home & office 2002 to work under wine, I tried again this weekend. Install went well. I could not register because the registration box was empty -- though it seemed to get further than it has in

Re: Sum-up: Re-proposal: web forums
Hello, I have noted below problems that we can take care of, and those that aren't our problem, never were, never will be, impossible to be our problem, (you get the picture), because they are PEBKAC errors :) For all of those that don't know: PEBKAC = Problem Exists Between Keyboard and Chair. MS Office 2010 Home - activation and licenses
Hi WineUsers, I have been very pleased with experiencing how well office 2007 works on wine (1.3.35-37 clean prefix) and I can see that there is also good progress on 2010. I have been considering buying the home license for 2010 so that I can try it out. However, I know that MS have some licensing scheme where you get to install it on 3 computers and that's it. Does anyone here have some

Web Forums
We have launched a web forum front end to this mailing list. I wanted to notify the subscribers of this list to that fact. http://forum.winehq.org If you prefer, you can now use this website to browse and post to the list. Your posts will still be mailed out to the list, and posts to the list will appear in the forum. You can continue to use the mailing list as you always have if you prefer

Sync use accounts between appdb, wine-bugs and wine-forums
Currently, I have two accounts : one for wine-bugs and one for appdb. That doesn't annoy me as it is, but that would be cool f those were merged together. I don't know if it is possible, since appdb, bugzilla and phpbb are three different php programs, but that would help new users to participate on every side of wine. By the way, I saw that my tr'd message went on a new thread on the

NNTP versus web forums
I see that a number of questions are being answered on the new web forum that is now part of the centos site. And the mailing lists So now there are two places to search, both the forum and the mailing list archives. This is just doubles the work required to follow along or find a solution. I know NNTP isn't sexy, it doesn't allow graphics in posts, it doesn't have person

How about bringing some organization to the forums?
Just was wondering why this is all just one big thread? Why isn't this forum broken down into categories such as that on the AppDB? Applications Educational Games Multimedia Networking & Communication Programming Utilities Seems like it would look a little more orderly and easier to sort peoples questions and expertise. Just a thought to the moderators[/list]

RFC: Potential idea to consolidate forums and lists
I'm making a request for comments in an effort to bring a minor but nagging bug to some kind of multilaterally-beneficial conclusion, and deliberately held off until after the 1.0 release in case this turns out to be a bigger deal than originally anticipated. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13517 The first proposed suggestion is that a more consistent method for handling the

Web-based forum for Vorbis discussion
Hi all, a web based forum has been set up for discussion about Ogg Vorbis. It's meant to be a home for both technical issues and general usage questions. If you were familiar with the old r3mix forums, this is more or less the next generation. It also includes forums for MPC, AAC and MP3/MP3Pro discussion. Further listening test (including the Vorbis ones) are also going to be conducted

Web Forum for SysLinux (Miller, Shao)
Hello, to quote another user, ?long time reader (practically) first time poster?. First off I must say I am not a huge forums fan myself (That is why when hpa declined boot-land?s offer I wasn?t surprised), however I do want to address some of the statements I read here, and give my two cents. ? There is another aspect to this, and that is that web forums suck for searching... it is very fast

New Web Forum
Interesting. I discussed this off line with a couple of folks and offered to host a forum. -- But, not to run it. So, this is great that we know have it and you have stepped up to the plate to run it. I do have a request / suggestion: I've noticed that many of the boards for open source software suffer from a couple of problems and it would be great if the Icecast forum could rise above

Web forum - should I make one?
Hello, this might be little off-topic, but still... I have not found any official web forum for R users. Did I look good? If not, I'm sorry and shame on me! :-) Such forums are very probably the most common way to share information about all sorts of problems, to ask and get answer. See http://forums.opensuse.org/ as an example. Admins, developers, users, do You think to have such forum
