PrintMaster 7.0 *nearly*, *very* nearly printing properly
I have PrintMaster 7.0 Classic (I assume) and it will in fact print, which
is more than it will do on Win XP, but Wine printing is not able to handle
the coloured fonts correctly.
Is there a tweak that can be applied? By downloading a dll for instance?
The only Wine error related to printing was:
fixme:commdlg:PRINTDLG_WMCommandA No handling for print quality combo box
yet.

IE install with Wine 0.9.12 under Debian Sarge
Has anyone got any Internet Explorer to install (and then hopefully run)
with Wine under Debian Sarge?
I tried all the methods I could find and have not been able to
successfully do this. I even tried wiping out the old ~/.wine dir and
starting fresh, but to no avail. I would appreciate info on this.
Thanks

NAT and Wine
How can I configure my Wine setup to be able to connect through my router
consistantly? I mean that certain apps, notably ie6setup.exe seem to see
the lan, but not be able to look any further.
Am I overlooking something?
Thanks

Wine message re glx - what can I do about it?
I am getting the following message from the stripsaver2 install and wondered
if this affects other programs with graphics:
wine: creating configuration directory '/home/dave/.wine'...
err:wgl:wgl_initialize_glx  glx_version as 1.2 and GLX_SGIX_fbconfig
extension is unsupported. Expect problems.
Is this end-user fixable, like by updating a glx library or something?

nmbd error: workgroup name is too long
I found a similar thread in this mailing list from a few years ago, but it looks like there was never a clear resolution. (https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2015-February/189450.html).
I’m fairly frequently receiving the following error in my logs:

With log level = 5, the error always appears immediately after the following entry:

N1MM Logger won't run
This is a freeware program written in Visual Basic 6.0 which I would dearly
love to get working under Wine.
It is available here: http://pages.cthome.net/n1mm/
It appears to install (with a few errors and fixmes reported). Then when I
ran it, the program coughed up a VB runtime error and died (also a few
errors and fixmes).
I am running Wine 0.9.16 which I compiled from source in Debian Etch,

installing an add-on package
Dear all,
my apologies if I am posting a silly question - but I couldn't find any
helpful information on this elswhere.
In the R FAQ, version 1.8-1, there is a section "5.2 How can add-on
packages be installed?", but it only gives information for Unix users.
How can I install an add-on package under Windows? (Specifically, I have
downloaded the "rmeta" package from CRAN.)

Windows Genuine Advantage checker
Is there a way to run The WindowsGenuineAdvantage.exe?
i tried it with Wine 0.9.29 and it crashed.
What I really wanted to do was run the WindowsVistaAdvisor.msi,
That proceeded and I got the .NET stuff downloaded and installed, but It
wanted IE version 5.5 or something.
I think if the fake IE stuff in Wine should have made that last step above
unecessary?
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Is there a work-around?
My system is Debian Etch and Wine 0.9.31 with a previous ~/.wine
I am connecting to the internet through a router/firewall to a broadband
service.
Ideas?
Thanks

Comment on Wine vs WinXP
Wine will now do something that Windows XP cannot.
That is, printing from PrintMaster 7.0 works under Wine (up to a point),
whereas it doesn't work at all under WinXP.
I think that is maybe a milestone!

Quick and Easy Question
All,
Been a while since I''ve "mechanized" and I''m running into an idiot simple
problem. I''m looking for more detailed examples to refresh my memory.
My question is how to get a list of links off of a page based on information
in the img src attribute, specifically if the img tag contains a
"mp3.gif/jpg".

quick and easy way to convert id3-tagged flac to flac-tagged flac?
Jud, why would you write this in .NET and limit its portability?
flac runs on Unix and Mac OS X, so if you were to write in C/C++ then
your tool would be available to everyone who can run flac.

Evaluating R expressions from C
I am currently puzzled by a passage in the R Extensions manual, section 5.10:
SEXP lapply(SEXP list, SEXP expr, SEXP rho)
     {
       R_len_t i, n = length(list);
       SEXP ans;

       if(!isNewList(list)) error("`list' must be a list");
       if(!isEnvironment(rho)) error("`rho' should be an environment");
       PROTECT(ans = allocVector(VECSXP, n));
