Can't get 3.0.23d from SuSE RPM to be a member in an NT4 domain
Been working with Samba back to 1.9 or so, but this is the first time I've tried to set it up as a domain member server. I followed (I think) the instructions on how to do this in TOSHARG (which are about as disjointed as the book, which I took back), but I continue to be unable to get the box, running winbind, to reliably authenticate users off the PDC, which is running NT4 (and I'm not

Another State Of The Punctuation Mark question - Vonage
There was a flurry of "Vonage is going to unlock SIP" activity last year; did anything productive ever come of it? Are *you* using your Vonage lines directly into Asterisk? In lieu of that, for a 4 line small business that doesn't need to pay Vonage $150 a month, who? Broadvoice? Someone else? I'm a touch unimpressed with the fact that BV's website *won't quote you

RECALL: Lithium batteries for Polycom Soundstation 2W
Just released by the CPSC on their recalls mailing list; please forward to any venues where you feel operators or resellers of the SoundStation might be, with this preface included. My 2W had a battery with the part code 1520-07804-002; its date code was GP0806, and therefore predates the recall period. Cheers, -- jra ----- Begin forwarded message ----- This message consists of the following:

"Fixing the Caller-ID Problem", by John Todd for O'ReillyNet
This seems like a piece members of this list would find interesting... === There is growing concern over the interaction of VoIP systems with the legacy PSTN, and the transmission of caller identity data--most notably, Caller ID on the PSTN. It is not always possible, or obvious how, to handle Caller ID data when moving to or from VoIP and the PSTN networks. There are even business models

Compiling Samba 3.0.4, err w/ krb5
Hello again, I'm not attempting an install of Samba 3.0.4 from source. I want to specifically compile in ads and winbindd support. So, I already compiled and installed OpenLDAP 2.2.13. Now the configure script is hung on krb5 dependancy: checking for krb5.h... no configure: error: Active Directory cannot be supported without krb5.h So I downloaded and attempted compile of krb5 1.3.4, but

Using multiple certificates for a given private key
Hi, I'm experimenting with certificates for users, giving access via the TrustedUserCAKeys mechanism. Unfortunately, there seems to be a limit of one certificate per SSH key on the user's side, which prevents using the same key for hosts using different TrustedUserCAKeys. Is there a clean way around this? To make the above clearer, consider the following situation: A collection of hosts

[PATCH] Allow matching HostName against Host entries
It would be useful to allow matching HostName entries against Host entries. That's to say, I would find it very convenient to have an ssh_config like: Host zeus HostName zeus.greek.gods User hades Host hera HostName hera.greek.gods # [ ... ] Host *.greek.gods User poseidon UserKnownHostsFile ~/.ssh/known_hosts.d/athens # [ Default settings for *.greek.gods ] where I

[LLVMdev] svn down?
Hello, I had a question tangentially related to svn. I am very new to LLVM. It seems like a long road to making my own backend, but I am wading through the documentation and experimenting with the code and having a lot of fun with it. I would like to try various experimental things out and also keep track of the latest changes. It seems like this is very difficult to do with svn.

I've been working on an asterisk box at work for a few weeks now, things were finally starting to sail smoothly until I hit this head scratcher this morning. It's a rather intricate problem, so bear with me. Heres the scenario. What works: If I call from my sip phone -> sip phone everythings ok If I call from sip phone -> external pots number ok as well If I map one of our
