proper use of Internal Timing
Hi All, Could anyone tell me the real use of "internal_ timing=yes" option on asterisk.conf file? I am using asterisk 1.4.22. As per my understanding if we don't have any TDM card installed with appropriate driver, we use internal_timing = yes to get the timing from ztdummy /ztDahdi. Is there any advantage on enabling "internal_timing=yes" even if we are proving timing

meetme conference latency degrades...
We have recently started making more frequent use of the meetme conference of our * system. We are using v1.0.8 with a 2.6.11 kernel on our system. We generally have 4 callers in it: two with the gsm codec and 2 with g729. Initially, the conference works fine and there is little latency. After about 15min., though, the latency is very noticable and by 25min it's unbearable. If we all leave

sip_chan - how to use value of the SIP 'To:' header field for extension logic
Hi, I have the following situation. I have one account created in my VoIP provider. Asterisk registers this account with the usage of 'register = ' command in the sip.conf file. I have a number of aliases assigned to my user which correspond to different public/PSTN numbers through which I am accessible. When there is an incoming call from my sip provider 'some_extension' which

asterisk 1.4.10 on linux kernel 2.6 needs timing device for trunking
I understood that a timing device (ztdummy if no zaptel hardware is present) was not necessary anymore with linux kernel 2.6. When I enable iax2 trunking I get this warning chan_iax2.c:8908 build_user: Unable to support trunking on user 'xxxxxx' without zaptel timing The linux kernel is 2.6.22-14-386 Can I ignore this message, and is trunking working despite this warning? What's the best ztdummy?
I have several servers using ztdummy as the timing source, some CentOS 4.x, some CentOS 5.x, some Asterisk 1.2.x, some Asterisk 1.4.x. "zap show status" differs between the servers: ZTDUMMY/1 (source: Linux26) 1 UNCONFIGUR 0 0 0 ZTDUMMY/1 (source: RTC) 1 UNCONFIGUR 0 0 0 ZTDUMMY/1 1 UNCONFIGUR 0

Early Media Issue
Hi all I've got an issue where when I call a number that just plays early media back to me. Instead of hearing the full sequence of tones I hear a short ringing then part of the sequence. What seems odd is that I can see the telephone-event/8000 being passed up the chain but when it gets to Asterisk, it is never sent back to the phone. Instead I just see the usual RTP flows. I've been

Problem compiling ztdummy on centos 4, 2.6 kernel
Hi all, I hope everyone is doing well. I just joined the list, and I've really enjoyed all I have read about asterisk so far. Unfortunately, I'm having a bit of trouble implementing this thing :). By the way ... I did my best to search the forums, and also to use google extensively, and while I have found pages with people with the same problem, ... The fix suggested on those sites,
