[Bridge] Why TTL is changing when sending a ping?
The situation is this: INTERNET -- ROUTER -- ETHERNET+WIFI -- PC's The conection between INTERNET and ROUTER is done with 2 LINKs with static IP's. The conection between ROUTER and PC's is done via ETHERNET lan with many bridges and ACCESSPOINTS. The PC's are in a IP subnet, the BRIDGES in another IP subnet, the AP's in another IP subnet. The ROUTER has 1 bridge interface

Hitachi Cable WIP-5000 Wifi phone?
I see that ABPTech are now offering this SIP Wifi phone. Does anyone have an experience with it? I've considered the Pulver/Zyxel wifi phone but would really rather have something that can handle WEP or WPA. I run an 802.11g wlan with 256 bit WPA encryption. This Hitachi phone looks very much like a cell phone, which could be ideal. Michael -- Michael Graves

Current viewpoints on the Sayson/Aastra 480i
I have read the user reports on the Aastra 480i SIP phones, but the last report is from October, and the advice was to stay away from these units. I was looking at the cisco 79XX series or the SPA-941's, but they don't have backlit displays. I also like POE support so I don't have to run multiple wires to the phones and makes for a neater look. I dislike the looks of the SNOM

WiFi IP Phones
Guys. I know there are wifi sip phones out there but I have a question, are any of these phones "anti explosive"? By that I mean, there are certain regulations about phones or cel phones that are not recommended to operate in environments like gas stations due to sparks and the chance of ingiting gas fumes. Are there any wifi sip phones out here that have complaince with regulations to

[RFC] [PATCH] Mode=Switch: add per-VLAN forwarding database
Hi, I'm inter-connecting AccessPoints using a tinc mesh and have bridge-nodes to bridge this vpn into some existing backbone. The AccessPoints bridge their users into 802.1q VLANs (per WiFi-Client, there can be multiple VLANs active on each AP) in the tinc mesh, and the bridge nodes bridge some vlans into the backbone. Now there is a router in the backbone that uses the same MAC on all VLANs,

WIFI phones on asterisk
I have used WIP300, hitachi 5000 wireless phones on asterisk and have had good success. However, I am looking for a WIFI phone with integrated belt clip. Has anyone found any? I have tried after market clips and holders and those just don't work. THanks for sharing if someone has found something that works with asterisk. Jerry

drawing filled countries according to data using map('world')? - follow up
Hello, this is a follow up on my previous inquiry regarding the use of the map library (Becker and Wilks 1993). Using the 'world' database I would like to draw filled countries in a world map so that the filling colors of each country corresponds to the value of a policy variable "fix.float" at a specific "year" (the goal is to visualize a policy diffusion pattern

Recommendations on a WiFi phone for *?
We're getting our feet more and more wet with VOIP at work. We want to experiment with a good wireless (as in WiFi) phone. What would be a good phone to impress my boss with? I'm personally drooling over the UTStarcom F3000, but compatibility and shipping ETA info is a bit sketchy. Phil

[Bridge] Flushing MAC-tables(?)
Dear list-members! I am using OpenWRT (www.openwrt.org) on two accesspoints. Within OpenWRT, the wireless interface and the ethernet interface are bridged to one interface (br0). Those two accesspoints are standing quite far from one another. Their WLAN-cells do not cross each other, meaning I have an area in between the two accesspoints, where there is no accesspoint of the two accessible: a

Squid and HTTPS interception on CentOS 7 ?
Hi, I've been running Squid successfully on CentOS 7 (and before that on 6 and 5), and it's always been running nicely. I've been using it mostly as a transparent proxy filter in school networks. So far, I've only been able to filter HTTP. Do any of you do transparent HTTPS filtering ? Any suggestions, advice, caveats, do's and don'ts ? Cheers from the snowy South of

Cisco 7920 and Asterisk - How well do they play together?
I?ve read various stories about the Asterisk SCCP implementation. Some say it works fine, others say it doesn?t ? stick with a SIP phone! My dilemma is that I?d like a WI-FI phone with multi-line capability, and so far Ciscos 7920 is the only one I?ve found. The disadvantage is that it cannot be upgraded to support the SIP-protocol, so if I purchase such a phone I am stuck with the SCCP.

Telnet and SSH login problems with Red Hat Enterprise ES4
Hello We have successfully set up Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES4 and we are now trying to connect remote clients to connect to it. The problems we are having are as follows: a) If we set connect with telnet, we get the login prompt. If we use any valid login name & password combination (including root), we get the response "Login incorrect" and then the login prompt comes back. How
