DST changes for the US
After palying around to set this correctly (or so I think, please correct me if I got something wrong) I decided to share it with everyone. For Polycom phones in sip.cfg change the following line from: <SNTP tcpIpApp.sntp.resyncPeriod="86400" tcpIpApp.sntp.address="" tcpIpApp.sntp.gmtOffset="" tcpIpApp.sntp.daylightSavings.enable="1"

Fwd: Polycom phone time behind one hour.
Tried to submit this email this morning and didn't see it in the list. I apologize if it is a dupe. I've inherited a customized Asterisk installation. After the past time change all clocks in my office are behind by one hour. After some digging it appears we have: A /tftproot/sip.conf that is being pushed out to our phones. I found the following line that seems to be what controls

time on polycom 501
I have a polycom 501 phone that is 1 hour off now. Before last sunday (time change) the time was fine. <?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?> <PHONE_CONFIG> <OVERRIDES _.0x20._log.level.change.sip="0" tcpIpApp.sntp.daylightSavings.stop.date="4" tcpIpApp.sntp.daylightSavings.stop.month="11"

Polycom NTP issue
I am ready to pull my hair out. I cannot seem to get the Polycoms to read the time properly. Regardless of the server they are pointed to our the offset, i am getting the correct time, but 24 hours ahead. So for today it is showing Friday April 28 but with the correct time. Any clues? Polycom phones w/ two lines on different servers
Hi all - This isn't really directly Asterisk related, but has anyone successfully set up a Polycom phone to register two lines on two different Asterisk boxes? I can get the first line to register, but the second one does not. I can still place calls from that second line, which indicates to me the server, user, and secret are correct. I'm running the newest 2.6 series firmware with the

Polycom Questions
Any Polycom gurus out there? If so, I have a few config file questions. First off, does anyone have the daylight savings time rules written for this Sunday's big change? Secondly, if there any way in the config file to tell the phone not to display the number of missed calls? I don't mind it keeping the missed calls list, I just don't want that running count. Lastly, I am trying

DST offset
Hello, I am trying to set the tcpIpApp.sntp.gmtOffset="0" setting on the polycom phone provisioning template and I see that it has a variable for ${DSTOFFSET} in the template I tried adding "dstoffset = -28800" to users.conf and sip.conf under both general and individual users but can't get the setting to set. Where/How do I set the variable? Thanks, Bryan --------------

Aastra 480 i
Getting "no service" display on aastra 480i. Sip debug shows an "unathorized" blub when the aastra tries to register. Some reading indicates that 1.4 firmware wants aastra.cfg and mac.cfg in /tftpboot/. There are none. Anyone have basic config files? Or can point me to a good link? All links I have tried, that purport to have config files, are either dead or error out.

accept email and make phone call?
Any ideas on how asterisk could accept an email (such as an email to SMS or "number at mybox.org" sort of thing) and make a phone call to a specific number and make an announcement? I imagine the first part is the big question. joe a.

Call Waiting
Since the beginning (of my Asterisk life) I have an install that is, supposedly, set up for call waiting. Using a TDM400p, with FXO and FXS modules. On the Analog phones, I can hear the Incoming call (call waiting) tone, but the system does not respond to a "hook flash", to place the current call on hold and answer the incoming call. I have not attempted, nor research how/if this can

FAX over T1
I have an existing Hylafax system using a mainpine 4 port board, 4 POTS lines. Have a recently installed Asterisk system, with a dedicated T1 line. (Well, it's really a fonality system). What would I need to do, or where is the reading material, for what I need to do, to convert the Hylafax server to use the T1 line? Reliably. Preferably to use DID's as well. The current FAX works

More FAX over T1
This is a follow up to an earlier post. Looking for a means to "individualize" incoming FAX, so as to distribute them to the intended recipient. While the PBX is based on Asterisk, it is not possible for me to "enter" the box to modify things, to any great degree. I thank those who mentioned IAXMODEM, earlier, but that seems a no go. Currently, there is a dedicated T1 into

FAX detection not working
I am having a problem detecting incoming FAX. TMD22p (tdm400p 2 fxo, 2fxs) As I understand it, I must have faxdetect = incoming to enable detection of the fax tone. Then, I must have a [fax] context to pickup the line and send it to whatever extension the FAX device is on. In my case, I ask it to answer immediately and do a distinctive ring (r3) to alert that is its a FAX call so no one picks

OT ? Number portability, land line to Cell
Having had various issues with local vendor (begins with "V"). am looking to move to all wireless. Anyone know if current vendor can refuse to port the current land line numbers to a wireless provider? >From what I've read, the Fed's seem to say "no", they cannot refuse, or impede this. joe a.

Setting caller ID on outgoing calls.
Excuse me if I recently posted on this, but I cannot find it, in my, or the list archives. Is it possible, when transferring a call, to set the user ID to that of the "outgoing number" instead of the incoming number? I believe the answer is (was) yes. New twist, does it matter what the destination "media" is? Meaning, the call would be coming in on a T1, going out on a T1,

Poor analog line quality, wireless "base station", FAX-ing
While pondering several issues, poor quality PSTN POTS lines, potential cost savings with multiple cell numbers, the FAX problems over TDM400p, etc, I wondered about: Cell phone "Base stations" to replace POTS lines. Devices to "cradle" cell phones and connect to TDM400p, for instance, to mimic PSTN. Are there such beasts, how do they play with asterisk? Will FAX work over

Polycom IP 600 - 1.3.1
I am getting to my wits end with these phones (and so is my boss). I am getting an random echo on these phones and I have an issue opened with Polycom and its been in their research and development department for almost a month with no results. I have noticed that I get a message "RFC3389 support incomplete. Turn off on client if possible" in asterisk. I have researched this and made
