Using wine-asio
I actually had an audio app running in wine "see" the wine-asio "driver". Now, how do I couple this goodie with a physical device, alsa port or jack client?? The app could "not start audio engine". No inputs or outpus were available to its dialogs choices.

have the expectation that it will run the same or better than in Windows or MacOSX. WineASIO link; http://sourceforge.net/projects/wineasio/ you will also need to get the ASIO SDK from steinberg to compile wineASIO (i don't have a link off hand, google it). and this guide although geared towards setting up Reaper in wine, has a section on compiling and installing WineASIO. this site is

ASIO audio drivers for WINE?
As a professional audio mastering engineer I am anxious to run professional PC audio software under WINE in Ubuntu Mint. Particularly SADiE 6, Adobe Audition 3, Reaper and similar. They all use ASIO driver interfaces with sound cards. The sound card I'm using is LYNX 16e http://www.lynxstudio.com/product_detail.asp?i=16 What is the state of development of ASIO drivers under WINE. BTW I think

Re : wine asio
And to get it all, use it like this : sudo make 2>&1 &>somelogfile or even better sudo make 2>&1 |tee somelogfile to see the messages and have them recorded at the same time. AEC troubleshooting
Well, I am not the person to be asked about how Speex AEC works :) And I was referring speaker input as having direct access into what has been played thru speaker. (ASIO Soundcard provides interface for that) So if I am remebering correctly, with data from Mic and Speaker in sync, speex AEC should do the job. fst, wine, Kontakt5 ... still no joy
Hi, (Sorry for the cross-posting.) After manually installing the 32-bit libjack packages on my 64-bit system, the original problem ("Can't connect to JACK") is gone; now I get a whole new set of errors instead :) When I try to start the Kontakt 5 VST from festige (via fst, via WINE), this is what I get: ============================ ----------------yo... lets see...

Downsampling
Ok, this is slightly offtopic, but relates to the quality of input for speex :) I'm working on echo cancellation by means of sampling the wave mix of the sound card as well as the microphone. I originally had two sound cards, which had some synchronization problems (now solved, more or less), but I have also discovered a much better solution using ASIO 2.0, which enables me to sample

AEC troubleshooting
Ok, let me be more clear on this. AFAIK, Windows OS doesn't expose speaker input as other OS ( Linux, Mac OS...). That puts you in bad spot in using Speex AEC with windows. Only way to work is to use Soundcard with ASIO functionality which does give you speaker input. But then you would have to impose that requirement on all your users. I heard Speex AEC works great from developer who

Sound card problem in acoustic echo
Hi All, In order to deal with acoustic echo cancellation problems of most PCs which sound cards have different capture and play frequencies. I made a trial. At first, a 1000Hz sine wave is played for a long time via a speaker and its acoustic echo is recoreded. Seconds, get the frequency of the echo by a FFT analyser. So the difference between capture and play frequencies is obtained. Thirdly,

Re: about cubase and asio...
Firstly, I want to thank you for finding some way for Cubase Studio 4.1.2 to work with Wine. I currently own Cubase 4 and it is the only thing keeping me from moving to Ubuntu. If I can get Cubase 4.5.2 to work with my Audiophile 2496 on Ubuntu (and it work well), I can finally ditch Vista. Reulle, since you've tested Cubase Studio 4.1.2 successfully, have you run into any further issues,

Downsampling
Hi, For transforming stereo to mono, averaging is fine and that's what everybody does. For sampling rate conversion, it's another matter (too long for this email) and you should read a bit about it a perhaps grab a library that does that. As for echo cancellation, it will be less complex (and as good) on a (cleanly) down-sampled signal (and certainly not on stereo). Jean-Marc Le mardi

AEC with different soundcards
Hi ? I used this "sample counting " method to?resample and put my audio signals in synch. It worked perfectly?in XP machines using a SoundMax?audio card, but it failed in other XPs using Realtek cards. As seen on http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/speex-dev/2008-September/006889.html?my application?continously checked my AEC level to slighly modify resample frequency, but convergence was

Soundcard detection failing
Hello all! I'm as new to these forums as I am to Linux, so please bear with me if I fail some of the etiquette! I'm running an Ubuntu 9.04 distribution. Sound has so far worked wonderfully in Ubuntu proper (playing music in Movie Player [current default] and through Firefox [Pandora] causes two streams to play; I don't seem to have issues with mixing!) PROBLEM: Ventrilo under Wine

Sound card problem in acoustic echo
Hi Underwood, Thank you for your help. I agree with your opinion. But it is almost impossible to further reduce the frequent difference between play and capture. 1. I used a 2^18 step FFT to analyse the echo frequency. So the freq resolution is 8000HZ/(2^17)=0.0625Hz. The analyser need at least 2^18/8000=32 seconds acoustic echo record signal from the microphone. Better freq resolution relies
