How does IMAP notify Asterisk that I've read a message?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I have an Asterisk box sitting between the PSTN and a legacy PBX. I
have successfully configured Asterisk to use IMAP for voicemail and have
written the necessary script to turn the MWI indicator (via a .call file
to the PBX) on and off. I have two issues still outstanding:
1) When the user listens to his voice mail via the phone, it will be

MWI & Asterisk Realtime Architecture
Hi Everyone,
I am using real time asterisk architecture and have placed the following
in sip.conf:
[general]
notifymimetype=text/plain

Can anyone give me any pointers as to what the problem could be?
Thanks

Asterisk@Home and VoiceMail
Don,
All you need to do is configure your VM button on the phone via the cfg
files. You setup the phone to look to an FTP server for config scripts
and then setup the scripts to work as needed. Here is an example of
where you set this VM button from my file called <mac
address>-phone.cfg...

Taking a Polycom IP601 home
Make sure you set nat=yes for the sip user. Asterisk will then send replies back to the source IP address, rather than what's in the Via: header.

Voice mail: MWI problem / pjsip (13.24.0)
Hello!
I'm facing a problem concerning MWI. The problem is:
The phone switches off the MWI exactly at the moment the second NOTIFY package for one voice mail
arrives.
The phone switches off MWI independently if the voice mail has been acknowledged or not before.
The behavior in detail:
- Once each hour, phone sends SUBSCRIBE
- Asterisk receives incoming voice mail for Device 200.
- some

Subscribe/Notify MWI not working for non-numeric accounts w/X-Lite
ok this is a wired problem. when i use X-Lite - after i register with
asterisk X-lite sends a subscribe/notify request to asterisk to
determine if the account has any messages waiting.
if i create a sip.conf account using:
user 12345 with a voicemail box 12345 - MWI works
user jwolosuk with a voicemail box 12345 MWI fails (gets a 404 not found
upon a subscribe)
does anyone have a clue why

SIP server behind NAT
Hello.
I have an Asterisk server (ViciDialNow) set up behind NAT. I can manage
to make outbound calls, but the communication drops off after 30 seconds
or so.
I'd really appreciate having some assistance from the mailing list on
this issue.
So, I'm having an Asterisk server behind a firewall and Zoiper
softphones on SIP connecting to Asterisk on the same local area network.

# IP601's with POE per Catalyst 3560G-48PS
Hello people,
I am having difficulties figuring out the POE power draw in
watts from a Polycom IP601. I want to know how many
IP601's can be powered from the Cisco Catalyst 3560G-48PS.
The IP601 wallwart has: Input 120VAC 60hz 19W, Output 24VDC
500mA. I assume the output is appropriate value to figure
out how many phones can be powered.
The Cisco 3560 datasheet says "the 48-port PoE

How to supervise a Voicemail box with a BLF button ? What does "State:Unavailable" exactly means ?
Hello,
I'm trying to supervise an existing Voicemail box with a BLF button on
Debian's asterisk 13.14.1 system.
I mostly found this [1] document.
I added in a context a line like:
exten = *7000,hint,MWI:31 at default
With "core show hints", I can read this:
*7000 at subs : MWI:31 at default State:Unavailable
Presence:not_set Watchers 1

Polycom IP501 MWI goes off periodically
I remember seeing something like this on the list a while ago, but I'm
darned if I can find it.
We have a number of Polycom IP501 phones, some of which have more than
one registration on them. When a voicemail is left for a phone with
only one registration, the MWI lights up and stays lit until the
voicemail is listened to.
However, on our phones with more than one registration, the MWI

Sip Notify PAP2-NA?
I am using mysql sipfriends and can't seem to get the MWI to work. From what
I've read it seems this is not supported with that dynamic system, and
probably never will be.
I was thinking of just setting a cron job or something to check every minute
for voicemail and set our sip NOTIFY messages as needed.
Also, the PAP2-NA has the ability to reboot via a sip notify and I would

I have the following setup:
- UAs registered with SER/OpenSER
- SIP peers (non cached), extensions, voicemail setup (not message storage)
defined in Asterisk 1.2 using Realtime
When a message is left in the user's mailbox, no Notify message is sent to
SER.
1. If the SIP peer is defined in sip.conf with a host=ser.domain.com then
the notfy is sent to SER.
2. If realtimecache=yes is set in
