Warcraft 3: TFT or RoC in Wine
I'm trying to get Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne or Reign of Chaos to work in wine version 1.3.35 on Gentoo x86_64 kernel 3.0.6 (oss USE flag is included).
However, although installation of both games went smoothly, no matter which one I use, I get this error when I attempt to play:
($GAME) was unable to detect a disc in your CD-ROM drive.
Please make sure your ($GAME) disc is in your CD-ROM

Warcraft 3: TFT Freezing after 15 mins of play
Has anyone had this issue before? Is there some bug with the nvidia 180 drivers that would cause this?
I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 (64 Bit) with 8 GB memory.
I was hearing some rumors that the 8 GB of memory may have something to do with it - regarding a bug in wine.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

Warcraft 3
Hi,
I have installed and played WC3 on Linux quite a lot around 20031212
release. The game played almost perfectly and I was very happy about that.
I have reinstalled it recently. I am currently running it under Wine 0.9 on
FC4. I find the performance to be inferior to what it used to be. I am
experiencing frequent short pauses ingame. It seems to be related to units
and building selections,

Warcraft III not recognizing

I am using the newest version of wine ( 1.1.18) and ubuntu 8.10 x64. I've installed wine and warcraft III with no problems; however, when i try to run wc3 it prompts me to insert the CD (which is definitely

Warcraft III in Second X Server
I currently have have wc3 barely working right now and have been trying to get better performance by running it in a second X server. It DOES work in windowed mode on my primary X server but I would really prefer a full screen experience. The only difference in output in between windowed mode and my second X server is this bit when I run my secondary X server:

Running Warcraft 3 + Listchecker a hosting tool
Running on a fresh install of Ubuntu Intrepid and WINE 1.1.10 I'm having some issues running warcraft 3 (the only game I play, so this is somewhat offputting). When starting Warcraft in normal (direct3d) mode the top and bottom panels stay there (making the game unplayable). I'm able to use -opengl and the game fullscreens correctly, but then when I start listchecker (a hosting tool

wine basics
Hello together!
I am using wine since several years. I never questioned the underlaying wine techniques since wc3 did run very nice.
Well some new games are out now and some will be available soon, so I am asking my self: Are those games goin to work with wine? So I started to think on wine. How does it work? What is it made of?
With git I got latest wine source code, and I had a look on some
