TDM analog cards, volume, echo, fxotune, ztmonitor and HPEC
Hi, everyone:
I am developing a system using Asterisk, TDM-400 analog cards, analog
lines, and Polycom SIP phones for internal extensions.
Initially there was bad echo but after a series of efforts, I've managed
to reduce it to a negligible level (it only happens when both parties
speak simultaneously, and even there, only for a few hundred
milliseconds). From an echo standpoint, things are

Calibrating both RX and TX gain?
Hello!
I'm having an echo problem with a TDM card. The TDM card is being fed by
a channel bank just 12 or so feet away. When you put an analog handset on
the line, both the RX and TX volume seem to be just fine. However, when I
use the TDM card, I have to have an rxgain of 13.5, and even then, the
audio is relatively quiet. I'm also getting echo on these lines, so I
have turned

"Decent" sub-$100 SIP phone.
Hey, all. I quoted a customer about $100 for some cheap SIP phones. I
was planning on using the BT-102's, but he called said they look like
"Princess phones," and I have to admit that he has a point. Some of the
other inexpensive phones look decent, but (for example) the SPA-841's
wiki entry says the remote end gets a lot of static. Since it'll be
being used from a noisy

Grandstream speakerphone?
Idle curiosity: I like the look and feel of the Grandstreams, but it's
been my experience that the speakerphones suck (esp. when compared to the
pretty damn flawless Polycoms). I've used the BT-100/101 and GS-2000;
have any of their newer models changed that?
Thanks!

Polycom: warble on registration?
Hi, all. I just upgraded my sip.cfg for my Polycoms, and that damn warble
on registration(? -- maybe it's on acquiring an IP?) has started again.
I still have the old sip.cfg, but can't figure out which option it is.
Any help?
Thanks!

Adit 600 FXO card sound quality
I have an adit 600 with one fxo card connected to a Digium single span T1 card.
CallerID, disconnect supervision work perfect, however the users
complain that they have some sound quality issues, after testing it I
realized that whenever one is in a phone call they get like silence
between the sounds coming from the other party, almost like a cell
phone, in other words if there is no sound coming

GXP-2000 Volume Issue
Is anyone else having an issue with GXP-2000s and transmit gain? All my
other phones are fine on my TDM400P with txgain set at 0, but the GXP-2000
caps at about a third of the scale in ztmonitor. I'm getting people
complaining they can't hear me on my GXP-2000s, whereas my Snom 320 and
Polycom 301 are great, and my Budgetones are overmodulating. Is there any
conceivable fix on the

Polycom firmware: split vs. combined
http://downloads.polycom.com/voice/voip/sip_sw_releases_matrix.html
Howdy, all. What's the difference between "split" and "combined"
firmware, which can be seen at the above link? I've googled to no avail,
I'm afraid.
Thanks!

dahdi-channels.conf vs. chan_dahdi.conf
Hey, all. Just added an analog card to our dual-T1 system... and
clearly I'm doing something wrong. Less interested in having the
specifics pointed out than in finding out how/why certain things work.
So, really, three things:
* What the bloody Hell is the difference between dahdi-channels.conf
and chan_dahdi.conf? (And who thought it was a good idea to have two

Polycom 601 -- programming buttons.
Hi, all. I want to have a button on my receptionist's 601 that, when
pressed, will forward her current call to a given extension. Is there any
way to do that? I've tried to RTFM, but I'm coming up empty.
Thanks,

I have had good success fiddling with the txgain and rxgain values in
zapata.conf on my PRI. In my setup, cranking the gain down a LOT eliminated

Polycom IP 330 w/VLAN?
Hi, all. I see that the Polycom SoundPoint IP 330 supports VLAN... but I
don't quite see how that works. Do you point a non-VLAN'd segment at it
(akin to when you uplink a VLAN_enabled switch), and have the phone
implement the VLAN? Or...? *puzzled*
Thanks much,

Polycom MWI.
Hey, all. I'm all over MWI, but I gotta say that I think the Polycoms go
a bit over the top. The blinking LED is enough for me; how do I disable
the stuttered dialtone and the audible warble? I've looked through the
config files, but there are a HELL of a lot of options, and I haven't been
able to find those particular ones yet.
Thanks!

Polycom Soundpoint boot ROM upgrade: how?
I can't figure out how one upgrades the boot ROMs for the Polycoms.
I've read the wiki, I've checked the docs, I've looked here, there,
everywhere; I hoped it might be through the web interface, through
DHCP... but I can't see how to do it.
Suggestions?
Thanks!

X100P card issues - noise, volume, etc
Hello,
I have just managed to get my 1st * server up and running and have a lot of issues with theX100P analog card. Would really appreciate anyone trying
to help me on the following :
1. The receive and transmit is too soft. So i increased the txgain and rxgain. The volume is fine after this, but there is a lot of 'wind' noise on the line.
I have my echo cancellation on, aggregive

SIP/WiFi handsets?
Anyone know of any *portable* SIP/WiFi handsets? Looking for a decent
price:quality ratio, of possible. Keep seeing handsets for Vonage, etc.,
in Best Buy and the like, but I imagine it's locked to Vonage, and can't
be re-appropriated.
Thanks!

volume problem
Hi all,
I have a TDM400 with all FXO on it. When I make an outgoing call, I
can hear callee but callee claims the volume is too low so that he/she
can't hear very clear. Can I adjust to increase the volume in callee
side? Is it increase the value of txgain can solve the problem?

Beeps clicks and volume problems
I still have problems with beeps and clicks on all my calls. I have
polycom sip phones. I also can hear the beeps and clicks on some of my
messages, which would lead me to believe that it is more of a decoding
problem on the zaptel card. Any ideas?
Thanks

sangoma card rx/tx gain level
Hey Guys!
We had echo issue before so we replaced old PRI card with Sangoma A102D HWEC. Now my question is i set rx/txgain level 0.0 default do i need to touch this value or default is best. I have read on google and people say it should around 14844 on ztmonitor for rx/tx level same.
I just use milliwatt and test my default 0.0 rx/tx level and it come around 4600. Do you think i need to make
