Realplayer audio/video plays fast & noisy on nVidia HDMI connected to HDTV
Hello,
This's my first ever post to CentOS lists. Sorry if I made any mistakes. My
family is familiar with this RealPlayer Gold 11 and hesitate to use VLC or
others. I googled a lot and tried different settings to no avail. Could you
please tell me what I need to edit in order to slow down the audio/video
playback of this old player? All other apps - even some older than

Surround Sound and EAX
Hi there,
I've been searching for a while now, for an answer, whether or not EAX and surround sound is supported in wine. And all I've found are contradictory opinions. So, still I can't get neither to work, and I hope, this is the right place to ask for help. [Wink]
As I understood it, wine should be able to play surround sound, when alsa is able to do it. "speaker-test"

Re: No sound in Wine 1.3.37 (tried known solutions already)
I am experiencing what appears to be this same problem. However, I am already running a self-compiled Wine, so that alone cannot be the solution in this case.
I am running 64-bit Debian, tracking testing. I have compiled Wine myself, from git revision b05be807583eca27dc0a4de896ba901bac54088c ("Release 1.4-rc5.").
As with the previous report, winecfg reports that it's using

I use Wine for play World of Warcraft, that support on Windows, 6 channel sounds mixing software.
On Ubuntu 8.04 and Wine i get only stereo output.
I've tried to do this .asoundrc for "force" use on Wine, of 6channels and I don't get any sound.

Ogg audio surround-sound
This came out of the OggPCM discussion, but I think it needs to be addressed on
a wider scale.
Let's start here, 5 years ago..

No sound with alsa and Nvidia HDMI
Hi,
I cannot get wine to recognize my audio device (Nvidia GT210 w/HDMI).
No other sound card is enabled. The right device for sound is hw:0,3. Alsa's speakertest works fine. Pulseaudio is completely removed from my system. Also Wine's pulse package is removed even though the trace still has some references to pulseaudio.
Winecfg displays only MIDI devices under ALSA. Direct Sound options

True surround sound for Ogg -- a proposal
Hi everyone,
Over the last two weeks or so, I've been thinking about how to add surround
sound to Ogg -- and more than that, to do it in the best way possible. With
this in mind, I started considering using Ambisonic surround sound. The
advantages of this format are considerable:
a) It was developed in the early to mid '70s, so the patents should
be expired by now.

Call of Duty doesn't run properly + sound problems
Hello!
I installed wine (latest) and wanted to run Call of Duty. But whenever I
want to start it (it doesn't matter if it is Call of Duty SP or MP or
United Offensive SP/MP), I receive the following error:
fglX11AllocateManagedSurface: __FGLTexMgrAllocMem failed!!
The screen is black at that moment and I have to kill wine by console or
from ssh.
My kernel also complains about something:

Surround Sound
Hey folks,
As I understand it, the vorbis codec had support for a channel count >
2, but that it didn't explicitly state the channel binding for channels
3, 4, ... . I'm assuming that with enough fiddling, it would
theoretically be possible to use a 5.1 stream encoded into vorbis.
From what I know of the CELT codec, it handles either only mono or
stereo. Is that correct?

EAX sound
Hello people!
I have GTA:SA installed and i have encountered some problems with the sound. After googling around i've discovered the problem is EAX. That is a sound engine GTA uses. I can hear the radio/police radio, but i (almost) can't hear sound effects (walking, shooting, explosions etc.). I discovered it is a problem you can stop by turning sound acceleration off in dxdiag.exe, but

FLAC and Surround
Hello,
I'm new to this list, and I would like to know about the current status of
FLAC and surround formats (5.1, 7.1). I know it is possible to compress
interleaved multichannel files with FLAC, but does it in any way have any
multichannel matrix, that collects common information from all channels and
use this when compressing?
If not, wouldn't it be a great idea to have this feature!!!
