Centos-4 Kernel pannic
Hi all, We are running a new Centos-4 server, and it has kernel panicked on us 4 times in the last month. After the first kernel panic we hooked up a serial console to the server and captured the output in order to have a record of what happens. Alternative to laptop
I am considering buying a small, and therefore easily portable, computer as an alternative to the laptop I already have. Obviously it would not have battery, a screen, nor a keyboard etc. but more or less be an easily portable computing unit to move between offices where a keyboard and monitor(s) could then be connected. I want to run CentOS 7, later CentOS 8. The smaller, the better, however,

Inexpensive Layer 3 Switch?
Any recommendations on an economical layer 3 switch? Preferably something that you have hands on experience with connecting to IP phones with attached PCs? Specifically I need the ability to set the VLAN in the phone to tag voice packets and to set a native VLAN on a per port basis on the switch to put the untagged packets from the attached PC into a separate VLAN. POE is not a requirement

Dell PowerConnect 2724 Switch and QoS for VOIP?
Has anyone had any experience with the Dell PowerConnect 2724 Gigabit Switch and VoIP traffic? It seems to support Class of Service (CoS), but not full Quality of Service (QoS). Will CoS help prioritize VoIP traffic at all? I am setting up an asterisk PBX for 22 users with very light traffic, but I don't want to have the call start skipping just because someone is pulling a large

How would you burn up 20GB of fiber on a Xen farm?
Hello to all. I''m setting up a high capacity farm that''s going to allow many departments of a company or project have their own resources. I have little to no control over the brand of CPU (I would have much preferred AMD) and name brand of the gear, but I do get some input on what goes in each node. They are dell Power Edge 2950''s, found here :

Hi - I've been asked to re-partition a Dell 120 GB 5400 RPM Encrypted Serial ATA Hard Drive and install CentOS 5 on the new partition. It's a Dell Lattitude E5400 laptop. Hi, I'm recently retired from my university job. I am looking for a laptop to run CentOS 6/7. My university was a traditional Dell site so I've used Latitude laptops for years, currently E6500/E6510. Anybody got any experience of running CentOS on the newer Dell Latitudes E5000 or E7000. These are not certified according to Redhats' Hardware Guide. Alternatively Precision

Dell PowerEdge 860, Sangoma A108
Hello everyone, I'm considering getting me a quad-core Dell PowerEdge 860 to run Asterisk. Anyone else using this model? Any tales of woe and sorrow I should know about? Then, in a couple of weeks, I'm thinking of getting a Sangoma A108 and giving that a try. Same question with that one - any quirks I should be aware of?
