7 points of comparison Polycom 430/501 and Aastra 480i. Which one to choose ?
I need to provide a 80 people office with VOIP. I want to commit to one vendor Polycom or Aastra. Price of the phones is not a factor in the decision. The quality of the phones is the factor. Some of the features that I am evaluating on are: (arranged in order of priority) 1. Sound quality 2. complete product line with conference phone and receptionist phone (not on Aastra) 3. cordless (not on

voice quality of Aastra 480i CT and cordless
Hi Folks, Looking for feedback on the cordless phones with the Aastra 480i CT handset. Is voice quality comparable to standard consumer residential 2.4GHz cordless phones in the US$30 - $50 price range, or better/worse? How about handset and speakerphone quality for the main phone? Seems like there have been various big issues with firmware in past, but is it pretty stable now? Thanks,

Aastra 480i CT - No Incoming Calls
I just bought an Aastra 480i CT for a client who needed cordless capabilities in their office. I'm trying to set up the base station and cordless handset in my office first. I'm able to connect the phone to my Asterisk box and make outgoing calls from either the base station or the handset - to extensions within my office as well as numbers outside the network. But I can't

Aastra 480i CT
Are the cordless phones on the 480i CT from Aastra registered independently in Asterisk? Such that if I have 5 of the cordless phones hooked up, each one is it's own "extension?" ________________________________ This e-mail, facsimile, or letter and any files or attachments transmitted with it contains information that is confidential and privileged. aastra 480i configuration help
I'm having problems getting my aastra 480i to register with the asterisk server. I can inititate calls from the phone, but >sip show peers does not show any IP address registered for this phone. I am probably missing something stupidly simple. Anyone have an example config to share or corrections for my configuration? Asterisk 1.2 aastra 480i CT has the 1.4 firmware <sip.conf>

hold drops audio
I have an interesting issue. I have an Aastra 480i CT (the one with the handset and the cordless). Here is the scenario: Caller 1 calls in and the person on the handset answers the call. Caller 2 calls in and the person with the cordless answers the call on the second line (because we call forward on busy to that extension) Caller 2 is put on hold and the audio is lost for Caller 1, never

cordless usb handsets: Uniden Win1200?
I'm looking for a usb cordless handset to pair with a softphone ( probably ekiga) on a pc linked to an asterisk server. I've loooked at the bluetooth headsets, but they seem overkill for just home phone extensions. I've found a number of handsets that work with skype, but they seem locked into skype. I've also found the Uniden WIN1200, which works with MS Messenger. It

Handset recommendations
Seeking recommendations on handsets for use with Asterisk. I've been looking at the Aastra 480i CT because of its cordless handset and also the new Linksys SPA-942. Anyone using either one of these with comments on them? Any other thoughts on good reasonably priced handsets? This is for just a couple of people who work from home offices and will be connecting to an Asterisk server hosted

RE: Bluetooth discussions (quick glance to some BT products)
There are somes products available claiming to connect a BT headset, a cell phone and a phone land line all together. I've found some : http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=2079 http://www.clipcomm.co.kr/ The clipcomm BS-A101 sample price is : $570. It's VoIP land phone that can make/receive a voice call using your CTP cell phone or BT-enabled headset. Maybe the best system

Current viewpoints on the Sayson/Aastra 480i
I have read the user reports on the Aastra 480i SIP phones, but the last report is from October, and the advice was to stay away from these units. I was looking at the cisco 79XX series or the SPA-941's, but they don't have backlit displays. I also like POE support so I don't have to run multiple wires to the phones and makes for a neater look. I dislike the looks of the SNOM

chan_bluetooth, mobile handset as VoIP terminal?
I have been looking at chan_bluetooth, so far being unable to make it compile with Asterisk SVN trunk. I was wondering about the different ways it can be used. What I have read so far implies two possibilities: 1. Asterisk pretends to be a handsfree unit, and can use the cell phone for placing calls over the mobile network, or answer inbound calls from the mobile network. 2. Asterisk

Soundpoint IP 430 -- discontinued.
Hey, all. I'm in the middle of a rollout, and just learned that the SoundPoint IP 430 -- my favorite mid-range phone -- has been discontinued. The heir apparent is the SoundPoint IP 450 -- for a low, low, low $130 more/handset. AND it doesn't look as nice. Ouch. Does anyone have any recommendations -- Polycom or otherwise -- for a good-quality, mid-range, two-line SIP phone (with good

Bluetooth headset in handsfree modewith SJPhoneorX-lite
I am able to pickup, hangup, and flash, using the buttons on the phone with all of the soft clients and both of the headsets I mentioned below. I don't believe I had to change anything on the client side, just had to get the ctp (cordless telephone profile) working in the bluetooth stack, which was a pita. I struggled with the same issue...I could use the headset, but that's not very handy

A little OT but need an opinion on Aastra 57i CT
Hello All, I have a need for a wireless solution and have been looking at the Aastra 57i CT phone that have the wireless handset with them. Aastra says they will cover "up to 300,000 square feet". I am finding this hard to accept. I was also wondering about the "secure WDCT cordless technology" Could this be a form of DECT? Any one using these that can shed some lite?

Major problems with TDM400 and specific telephones: suggestions?
Hello! Attached to the bottom of this e-mail is an edited version of an e-mail I originally wrote to Digium tech support regarding Ouch and Power alarm errors I have been receiving on my TDM400. It contains a great deal of detail regarding my setup. In the end, I have found that one of the 5 phones I'm trying to make work with Asterisk is contributing to the generation of these errors.
