AsteriskNow!
Does anyone know how to gain access directly to the configuration files in AsteriskNow? I have dual NICs and need to change the binding in the config file. I believe they blocked ssh2 access by default.

Music on hold 1.2
What is a good solution for playing music on hold on the 1.2 branch. I do not want to use mpg123 because last time I used it in a production server it caused many problems. The MPG123 process was taking about 60% of my Xeon CPU.

g729
I installed a hardware g729 codec card in my asterisk, and I'm getting the following error when calling from a g729 sip extension to a SIP trunk also set to g729. The call goes through just fine, but these error messages keep flying by until I disconnect the call.
Any ideas?

ExtenSpy? am I doing it correctly?
Scratching my head and trying this.
Asterisk Version: Asterisk 1.4.21.2
Tried:
exten => 4771,1,ExtenSpy(4724 at mbb)
exten => 4771,2,Hangup
Also tried:
exten => 4771,1,Answer
exten => 4771,2,ExtenSpy(4724 at mbb)
exten => 4771,3,Hangup
Also tried many variations including option ,b
I think most calls I make are 'bridged'
extensions 4771 and 4724 are both in mbb context.

problem with asterisk - calls where both sidescannot hear each other
If you use both the public and private interfaces for VoIP in the Asterisk Server, make sure you don't specify one of them for the binding in sip.conf
Example
bindaddr=0.0.0.0
will allow SIP traffic on any of your interfaces.

kore dump
I am running Asterisk 1.4.5 and addons 1.4.1 in a CentOS 5 Server.
My PBX has experienced several core dumps the last couple of days and I am not sure if this is what's causing it, but it always seems to happen when a particular extension on a grandstream phone uses ChanSpy SIP group.
I have not been able to locate where the core dump file is being saved. I can't find it in my

MixMonitor and Queues
Greetings, all.
I would like to record calls that are entered into queues and I'm not
quite sure how to do it. Here's how I'm currently set up:
- Call comes in and is placed into Queue #1 (which rings all phones for
15 sec).
- If call drops out of this queue, it is placed into Queue #2 (which
plays MoH until the call is picked up).
I've tinkered with MixMonitor and I have my

ExtenSpy Problem
Hi
I'm trying to get ExtenSpy to work but it wont, I'm dialling a number
from my mobile which comes into our server and answering the number on a
particular SIP extension which all works fine. I'm then dialling an
exten from my own SIP extension which executes the ExtenSpy for the
correct extension but I hear nothing.
Here is the output in the CLI

Sending audio to a channel
I have a voicemail application that users can listen to messages and
leave messages. I am looking for a way to play a beep tone to a user
when a new message is received when they are on the phone.
Here is what I have come up with:
in extensions.conf:
[beepvoicemail]
exten => 1000,1,answer()
exten => 1000,2,NoCDR()
exten => 1000,3,wait(2)
exten => 1000,4,Set(TIMEOUT(absolute)=5)

chanspy spies on wrong channel
asterisk 1.4.32 have zapata.conf soft link to chan_dahdi.conf to use
flash operator panel < 2.0
(from extensions.conf)
exten=> 304,1,ChanSpy(Zap/4|q)
exten=> 304,2,hangup
There is no entry ChanSpy(Zap/41) in extensions.conf
On dialing 304 and Zap/41 is in use this happens:

Unexpected DNS queries from Asterisk
Keep in mind this is 1.2...
I have a peer in sip.conf:
[my-uk900]
context = uk900
host = a.b.c.d
type = friend
Why am I seeing DNS queries like my.example.com and uk900.example.com?

extenspy and chanspy
I want to add to my dialplan the ability to spy on an arbitrary
extension whether a call originates at it or is terminated at it.
Scenario 1: Given an extension, say 2001, a call comes in on a zap
channel and is Dial()ed to the phone that's at extension 2001, I want to
be able to pick up a phone and dial (say) *142001 and spy on that call.
Scenario 2: Extension 2001 makes a call to, say a

ExtenSpy d option 1.6
I just installed asterisk 1.6.0.9 in the hope of using the d option in
ExtenSpy(). I found this on the internet:

talk to
- the spied-on channel.
- W - Enable 'private whisper' mode, so the spying channel can
- talk to the spied-on channel but cannot
