Strange display error.
I have just had a recurring hardware problem with my graphics card, a modern NVidia one with Mandriva's driver. I suspect that it is dust getting into the socket. It set itself up in framebuffer mode. Anyway, it is now working, and seems to be behaving normally, except... All my apps under Wine still work fine except the one that matters, the jigsaw program. Windows DirectDraw?
I just tried to install an ancient detective-type RPG ( I am not up with the classifications.) (a) It offered to install DirectX. Since Wine has its own DirectX, I ignored that. (b) The game failed to run because (according to the message box) it couldn't find DirectDraw. This showed as a Fixme in the terminal, while the error message was to do with the display settings - there was no mode

Graphics issue
I use Wine only to run BigJig (http://www.lenagames.com/bigjig/). Under Wine 0.9.12 most things work. I can't get graphics for the types of pieces, only smudges of colour, and I can't start a jigsaw from the downloaded file. A previous Answer Man on this list (reln?) said that he had it working fully, but didn't say what settings he had used. Are there particular DLLs I should try?

Program backgrounding
I am running Wine 0.9.14. A satellite tracking program, Orbitron, disappears into the background whenever it should just minimize. How can I get it to the foreground again? It is invisible, but I can hear progress tones in the speaker. Doug L. -- For there was never yet philosopher That could endure the toothache patiently. - Shakespeare (Much Ado About Nothing).

swfdec in firefox on Fedora8 x86_64
Hi All, I've tried swfdec on Fedora 8 x86_64 without much luck. I originally used the rpms from livna. I primarily want it just to view youtube videos which from various blog posts I thought worked. It seems to detect the flash but i just get a white background (it does detect a plugin as you don't get the jigsaw piece). So i recompiled the rpm on my machine just to make sure. No

Wine debug sumbols. How to get?
My Wine build is lacking debug symbols. I tried to compile it Code: ./configure and Code: CFLAGS="-g" ./configure but it didn't help. How to compile wine with debug symbols or maybe is there a ready package? I use openSuSE 11.1 x86_64.

Icons not appearing
Hello, I assume this is a common item, b my icons are not appearing in the menu bar in my application, although I have seen screenshots of the same application running on other wine setups witht he icons. Is this related to my X settings, or is there something else I should look at? Thanks, Duncan McQueen

setup.exe fails on wine version 0.9.20 and later
When I try to run wine /mnt/cdrom/setup.exe on the Monopoly CD-ROM it returns "Terminated" on the console. This has happened since version 0.9.20. It worked almost perfect in wine version 0.9.19. Monopoly is a Windows 16 bit game. Any idea why this is happening now? Thanks in advance, Charlie

How To Test For W3C compliance locally and possibly to include it in to Continuous integraition process
Hi Everyone, As many of you out there I''m "protected" by the firewall which prevents me from checking my code for W3C compliance, I am able to check the production code but i would like to test my code before it goes to production. So if anyone was able to have that check done locally, possibly including some sort of tests in to the integration process, I would truly

isohybrid --uefi - resulting EF00 partition too small
Hello everyone, I am maintaining a distribution loosely based on LFS and am now trying to add UEFI support. Integrating a FAT formatted partition image containing, preloader, gummiboot, kernel and initramfs correctly results in a ISO image that is bootable on BIOS and UEFI systems if booted from the optical drive. However, when I run isohybrid --uefi name-of.iso the resulting GPT entry for

Another Delphi App Fails
The best jigsaw puzzle program, "Jigsaws Galore" is written in Delphi, does things that Microsofts's APIs simply cannot. Great program. Attempting to run in WINE, especially the latest and greatest, is catastrophic. Once, it simply changed the screen resolution to something hopeless and failed. I could then restart X or otherwize switch the resolution back with alt-cntrol-+ or

winsock error.
Running Orbitron, it was O.K. for a while, now in a terminal, I get: fixme:winsock:convert_sockopt Unknown SOL_SOCKET optname 0xff7f err:winsock:WS_setsockopt Invalid level (1) or optname (65407) AFAIK, the only difference in my setup between last time and now is to install ddclient. SPA (NTLM) Authentication
Hello I have just spent a happy day (!) configuring Exim4 to accept authenticated connections from full blown Outlook clients. That works. Unfortunately, by ticking the "Use SPA" box in Outlook it now demands SPA on the POP3 server as well. The existing POP3 server doesn't support this style of authentication. I believe Dovecot will. We're already using it as an IMAP

Getting users and groups through winbind on FreeBSD
Hi We have a few Linux samba servers that authenticate against our Active Directory domain (Small Business Server 2000). I've added a couple of disks to a FreeBSD 6.1 server in our office and I'm trying to achieve the same but not having much luck. I'm new to all this... I'm not our network admin, but he is BSD-phobic so I thought it was safer to do it myself.
