Windows DirectDraw?
I just tried to install an ancient detective-type RPG ( I am not up with the
classifications.)
(a) It offered to install DirectX. Since Wine has its own DirectX, I
ignored that.
(b) The game failed to run because (according to the message box) it
couldn't find DirectDraw. This showed as a Fixme in the terminal, while
the error message was to do with the display settings - there was no mode

backward step?
Running my jigsaw program, BigJig, under Wine-0.9.17, the screen looks like
it did under early versions (0.9.12 and before), and all the jigsaw
selection thumbnails have gone. This has been the case since version 0.9.15.
I recall that I fixed the layout by installing fonts - something about the
size of the fonts set the size of the buttons. I am running Sidenet, which
links to the Linux fonts.

Program backgrounding
I am running Wine 0.9.14. A satellite tracking program, Orbitron,
disappears into the background whenever it should just minimize. How can I
get it to the foreground again? It is invisible, but I can hear progress
tones in the speaker.

Strange display error.
I have just had a recurring hardware problem with my graphics card, a modern
NVidia one with Mandriva's driver. I suspect that it is dust getting into
the socket. It set itself up in framebuffer mode. Anyway, it is now
working, and seems to be behaving normally, except...
All my apps under Wine still work fine except the one that matters, the
jigsaw program.

winsock error.
Running Orbitron, it was O.K. for a while, now in a terminal, I get:
fixme:winsock:convert_sockopt Unknown SOL_SOCKET optname 0xff7f
err:winsock:WS_setsockopt Invalid level (1) or optname (65407)
AFAIK, the only difference in my setup between last time and now is to
install ddclient.
Any suggestions please?

Biplots
I want to plot biplots. I have seen the function biplot, but there are
some extra features I would like, that I do not know how to achieve.
1. My observations, and my variables, fall into groups. Is there a way to,
say, plot the observations in several different colours, according to
which group the observation falls into? Similarly with the variables? I am
used to the lattice idiom, in which one

Re: Can Garmin's (MapSource) USB map-card reader be used in Wine?
Hello,
I tried to install Mapsource 6 in Wine (20050211.2) on MDK LE2005 but it
didn't install... The same with GIDroute which installed but didn't want to
be launched.
I will give it a try on MDV 2006 but I don't expect a miracle. And the pseudo
map applications for Linux are not really what we can consider as useful and
easy to handle with...

No ringing tone with IAXY (and other bits and bobs)
Hi!
I'm really hope you can help me solve a little mystery, the mystery is
probably just my misunderstanding ! sorry...
I've got an iaxy talking to my * box which connects to two providers.
I'm running the stable release of the pbx.
The only thing is that when dialling from the iaxy the ringing tone isn't
heard while calling someone - you just hear silence then, they either

Hello Jean:
Big mistake!!
One of the three things that a supplier should never discuss is
politics ... that's business 101.
Speex may be a very good product, but we will never use it because of

wav instead of gsm for vm-sounds?
Is there a way to get * to use wav files instead of gsm files for the
voicemail, agents, and queues applications?
Gsm does not give all the quality we would like to have, and we use no
low bit rate codecs.

RFC: Feature: MENU HIDDEN behaviour on ANY key
Hello,
Here's a small enhancement feature for menu.c32. Looking for feedback before starting any coding (not sure when I'll have time for implementation)
Regards,
Dany St-Amant
*Problem statement*
When MENU HIDDEN is used on an headless server, any noise on the serial console can interrupt the boot; it would be preferable if there only specific keys were allowed to interrupt, reducing

Sendmail --- HELP!
I posted something about this a while ago and didn't get any response. I
having a HUGE problem with sendmail. I'm clueless that sendmail is even

sendmail doesn't stay up.
Note: I have only been having this problem since FreeBSD 4.8. I have been

Aastra 480i repair?
Just found out my maintanence agreement with fonality does not cover
phones over a year old. So, of course, they don't repaird phones, only
replace them. Very worldly of them...
Anyone know where I can get an Aastra 480i repaired? The phone works on
speakerphone, but when you lift the receiver offthe hook, the phone does
not engage. There is something wrong with the "hook". The

Bug#623058: logcheck: tweak 'rsyslogd was HUPed' filter
Package: logcheck
Version: 1.3.13
Severity: minor
Tags: patch
Hi,
Logcheck reports messages of the form:
