We're getting our feet more and more wet with VOIP at work. We want to experiment with a good wireless (as in WiFi) phone. What would be a good phone to impress my boss with? I'm personally drooling over the UTStarcom F3000, but compatibility and shipping ETA info is a bit sketchy. Phil

Hi Alessio Yes, the problems you report do seem similar to the issues I had. I found on the Dells that the audio prompts were very choppy and played slower than normal. Occasionally there would be 'bursts' oav a second or so of 'good' audio. I also suspected IRQ issues but the Dell Mobos had no way of adjusting them. I'm about to start working with WiFi phones on my Asterisk installations. Can anyone tell me if they are using WiFi phones on wireless network that is extended with WDS and how well the phone handles jumping from access point to access point while on a call? Do any WiFi phones support WPA encryption or are they all still under the impression they are only being used on public hot spots?

Does such a beastie exist? I've tried a couple of UT Starcom WiFi SIP phones (the F1000g and F3000 respectively), and found them both to be seriously lacking - regular crashes (especially the F3000), poor battery life, and poor reception in particular. Hi all, I' m currently testing a Wifi UT Starcom F1000 and for my taste even with the audio volume level even on max. setting, the speaker is not loud enogh. Is there a way to raise the audio-level specifically for a concrete SIP device via a sip.conf setting or something like that ?? TIA, Bruno
