Cisco 7940 Phones as paging system?
Hi all; I have been searching for an answer to a question that a customer asked me and I have only found a few older answers. So, wanting to find out if anyone has any experience with this issue and can help provide me with some advice. I have a customer which is strongly interested in using Asterisk as a PBX. One of the core requirements, however, is that the system MUST be able to

Delay between answer and pickup ?
We are having a situation on our dialler here where our agents are claiming that when they receive a call because it has been answered, it seems as if the call had been answered several seconds earlier - IOW, they are hearing "hello ? Hello ?" and often hear the phone being put down as an initial part of the call. We have verified this by checking the voice recordings. Yet, the logs of

Polycom Auto-Answer
I am having a problem with Polycom auto-answer. I have the auto-answer working between PhoneA and PhoneB, but when I try to use the intercom between more then one phone I start having problems. PhoneA dials *3 which calls PhoneB, PhoneC, and PhoneD. All the phones ring, but only one will pick up, the rest will hang up and I get this error on Asterisk: Got SIP response 500 "Internal Server

Lockups since upgrade 1.2.3 - anyone else? Any ideas?
Boy oh boy. This blows. I upgraded to 1.2.2 from 1.0.9, and of course had the timebomb bug. Immediately after upgrading to 1.2.3 we were ok, for 24 hours or so. Since upgrading to 1.2.3, though, the whole system has locked up twice. Once on Thursday, and then about a half hour ago. The server would reply to a ping, but no ssh login, no local console login - just locked up. This ain't good for

ip phones and intercom/paging
There was a thread a few months ago that tossed around some ideas for using a cisco phone for intercom or paging. I don't have any ip phones, and wondered if anyone had any luck getting intercom or paging to work on the cisco units. Do any of the (cheaper) ip phones have a way to support intercom or paging? I presume that it's not part of the SIP or IAX protocols. Chris.

Polycom firmware 4.0.1 and paging
Hi, I just moved many Polycom phones from firmware v3 to 4.0.1b. Anto-Answer simply stopped functioning. I can downgrade and make it work, upgrading kills it again. There obviously is a difference in how the newer firmware is treating this auto answer sip header. Can anybody tell me if they have Polycom firmware 4.x.x working with auto-answer/paging? Just so I know it's worth my time

SIP tapi
I am trying to use a the SIP tapi from www.enum.at <http://www.enum.at/> . This works fine from all kinds of applications which support TAPI, like outlook and Dialer Pro. However when making tapi controlled calls, the signaling to and from PSTN seems to fail. I have used the digium hardware ISDN PRI boards, but also a SIP gateway. Both result in a audio message from asterisk

Cisco 7940 - NAT Option
I am thinking of turning on the NAT option in our Cisco phones (and the corresponding sip.conf modification) to allow the phones to be taken outside the LAN. Can anyone think of any reason not to just always turn on the NAT enabled option? I can't think of a reason not to always operate these phones with this enabled, since it would likely allow them to be taken outside our LAN and used.

Doorbells & Door Intercoms
Hi, Does anybody know of a VoIP compatible doorbell or door intercom unit? I've contemplated buying a cheap SIP phone, ripping it apart, and putting it inside an IP66 sealed unit... It would need: - At least one speed-dial key, or some way to make every button dial the same extension number - PoE (power over ethernet), so I can power it off the central switch - cheap enough to rip apart

Intercom/autoanswer, SIP, Cisco
A friend pointed out this url http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/pcat/clmn32.htm where it lists intercom/auto-answer as being a feature in Cisco Call Manager (which as I understand it, uses SIP predominately for handsets). I've come across comment somewhere that intercom isn't supported in the SIP spec. Does anyone know if the apparent capability of Intercom being available in SIP

All Page ??
Does anyone know of any plans to add an intercom/all-page feature in *? The few SIP phones that have auto-answer capability would be better if Asterisk could broadcast one leg of a channel to many legs at one time. Thank you, Steve Maroney

Sip & Intercom
Hello all, I noticed that Cisco claims that you can do station to station intercom with the 7940/7960 phones, and the Cisco Call Manager. Does anyone have an example SIP header that shows this in action? Or is it something else that triggers the intercom? I would like to add this in to *. Thanks, Mike

Aastra - Alert-Info : how to stop auto-answer on call second leg ?
Hi, When implementing click2dial feature, I can trigger an Aastra phone to auto-answer using statement like : SIPAddHeader(Alert-Info: info=alert-autoanswer); This is very convenient when trying to reach a distant party (ie through PSTN) The trouble is when 2 Aastra are calling each other over the LAN, this single statement is memorized somehow and both phones (caller and callee) auto-answer.

(Analog Intercom) PagePal by ATT -- was hooked to a Merlin
I'm replacing a Merlin for a client and they have a PagePal Intercom that I would like to reuse. Here is what I know about it: It has a screw-down wires that goto rj-11 (This was told to me over the phone) that went into one of the Merlin ports. I tried bring it up with fxo_ks and fxo_ls (assuming it was analog and autoanswered) but no luck. I would be happy to replace if anyone knows of
