Hi all, I've got Asterisk 1.2.10 up and running on Debian using the back ports. I noticed that it didn't come with mpg123 or depend on it and I believe I read somewhere that asterisk now handles it's own mp3 playback? Is this true? If so I must have a problem, because I hear no music when putting someone on hold. When looking at the console when putting someone on hold, I see

I'm using Asterisk 1.4.22.1 When I'm on active call it happens many times the call gets interrupted by music-on-hold without my pressing any button. MOH just kicks in and int erupt the call and I have no way of getting the call back. Did anybody experienced anything like this? -- Joseph

Hi, I'd like to have asterisk play a sound file while a caller is waiting to be connected to an extension. I tried using music on hold, but that seems to run in a loop, not playing from the beginning for each caller. Are there any other options? It doesn't have to be an MP3 file. I tried sending a background() command before the dial(), but that doesn't appear to work.

Does anyone know how to maximize music on hold quality on calls inbound from PSTN? I know that it is common to have choppy and static sounding music on hold when connecting via PSTN but how can that be minimized? I assume that the bitrates, type of music, etc can minimize the effects. Does anyone have any experience in this area? Do you know where I should look for more information?

i've been searching the archives but can't find anything substantive on this. most of the music on hold documentation discusses integrating with zap hardware, but i am trying to send it across a sip channel. I think I'm missing a change between 1.2 and 1.4. When using 1.4 (so far 1.4.9, 1.4.13, and 1.4.14), music on hold is not working for transfers or parked calls.
