To AppDB, or not to AppDB ?
I have several Windows executable that do run under Wine, and that only
install a number of files in a directory, and modify the registry so that the
main GPS mapping app can find and use them.
Is it worth making an AppDB entry for such progs ?
Cheers,
Ron.

Where to download
I need to use an app that stopped working somewhere between 0.9.33 and 0.9.44
IIRC.
Anyone know where I could download a Mandriva .rpm for 0.9.33 ? Seems no
longer available at Sourceforge.
Cheers,
Ron.

Upgrading Wine
Going to install .47 to replace .46.
Should I delete ~/.wine and reinstall all my apps, to make sure I catch any
possible regression ?
Cheers,
Ron.

Mailing list <-> forum gateway
Hi all,
First off - this is not flame bait or a troll. It's a genuine question.
Since the forum gateway was introduced, it is my opinion that this list
is getting flooded with newbie questions. Check the "I just installed
Ubuntu" thread for a typical example.
I wish to silently remove all wine-forum posts and their replies from my
inbox. I plan to filter based on

Two versions of Wine ?
From a complete Wine newbie:
I use Wine to run apps related with GPS receivers.
I have upgraded from 0.9.33 which came with Mandriva 2007.1 Spring to 0.9.46
from WineHQ.
Net result, the Garmin Mapsource app now loads and runs perfectly, which it
did not do before.
But GPSMapEdit, which worked before, no longer does.
Question: is it possible to have to versions of Wine installed, and use one

Screen font size
Probably very simple, but I cannot find it:
Is there a way to increase the size of the screen fonts used by Wine and apps
running under Wine ?

Epi Info
Hello:
Does anybody knows if Epi Info, from CDC (www.cdc.gov/epiinfo) runs on Wine?
I did try AppDB first but there are no entries for Epi Info.
Epi Info is a data base for epidemiology and public-heath developed by
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (USA) and heavilly used in
the world. It is based on Access 97 or 2000 witch I found in Frank's
Corner AppDB.
Thank you,

New Wine help and discussion forum
Hello,
There is a new Wine help and discussion forum at
http://www.wine-forum.org/index.php that is meant to be a meeting
place for anyone interested in Wine usage or development. In the past
there there has never been a single forum dedicated solely to Wine.
The lack of a single forum has left people to post Wine related help
and discussions in other forums. At the moment most users turn to

Dear all,
Has anyone written functions to compute (and ideally project / plot onto
a plane) confidence ellipsoids for q linear model parameters, q > 2 ?
Greetings and best wishes,

Killing glusterd does not kill other gluster processes.
When you shutdown a node, everything obviously gets killed but the
client does not get notified

how to update R
Dear R users,
I have R 1.8.0. and, when I try to load the package "multcomp", I have an
error message saying that this package was developed under R 1.8.1.
So my question is "How to update R" ?
Should I uninstall my version of R to install the new one or is there a
simpler way to update it ?
Than you for your answer.
Sincerely,
Renaud.

Fwd: Re: Finney's fiducial confidence intervals of LD50
thanks a lot Renaud.
but i was interested in Finney's fiducial confidence intervals of LD50 so to obtain comparable results with SPSS.
But your reply leads me to the next question: does anybody know what is the best method (asymptotic, bootstrap etc.) for calculating confidence intervals of LD50?
i could "get rid" of Finney's fiducial confidence intervals but
