Ubuntu + Wine = Can't See My WoW :(
Hello all, I've been struggling for a while now to get World of Warcraft running under wine, and there's lots of helpful information out there, but nothing seems to address the particular problem that I am having. Rather than try to explain it to you, it would be easier just to show you a screenshot: http://www.maj.com/gallery/servo/00-BitBucket/wow-opengl.png In a nutshell, the

windows printer queue display fails
I am driving a Suse 8.2 linux with cups 1.1.18 and samba 2.2.7a. The problem: The host serves several printers via cups. If some jobs are in one of the queues "lpq -Pprinter" or "lpstat -o printer" shows up the complete listing. Fine. Connected to the same print queue from a Windows (XP/NT/98/2k) box I cannot see the complete listing. Sometimes I see some of the jobs, most of

games:COH/C in wine
I know that City of Heroes/Villains doesn't work in wine right now and I couldn't find much on the wine website that looked like anyone was actively working on it, but I am very interested in playing this game in Linux. I have zero programming skills, but I do have some free time and would be more than happy to test stuff out and give feedback and/or to hunt through forums and google

wine don't handle hard coded resolutions & refresh rates?
I'm trying to play Silent Hunter 3 using 0.9.57. I get my wine from the wine Ubuntu repository and I use Ubuntu 7.10. Silent Hunter 3 uses a hard coded resolution and refresh rate of 1024x768x32bit at 50Hz. But I have an 1680x1050x24bit at 60Hz monitor. I use the nvidia-glx-new version 100.14.19+2.6.22.4-14.10. There is a patch available from the Silent Hunter 3 page, but it is for source

Problems with World of Warcraft since 0.9.48 update
Hi all, I have installed WoW with 0.9.47 (actually also 0.9.45 and 0.9.46 on previous Linux installs) and it was working fairly well (with the due modification to the registry, WoW config file, and nice -15), but I started to have few problems since I have updated wine to 0.9.48. The first and most annoying problem is that every 15-25 minutes WoW freeze; I have to kill it and reopen it. That is

Debugging WINE?
Hi, I'm trying to get EVE Online working under WINE in Solaris. Reading various forums, it works fine with the last few versions in _Linux_, however in Solaris it does not. The game consists out of two executables. The first is a simple splashscreen application that then starts the actual game executable. The splashscreen app seems to work fine, the splashscreen shows and WINE exits with

Odd behavior in World of Warcraft
I am just messing around with wine and World of Warcraft, I am behind a firewall and presently unable to get out to WoW, but can get to the login screen fine. The problem is that I can run it with a clean .wtf (config file) and it starts up ok with defaults (DirectX mode) and seems smooth, I exit and then launch it again and it seems to "stutter" and I dont mean sound, but graphically.

I'm interested in the methodology for creating a fixed point > implementation and guaging how "good" it is relative to the floating > point golden standard My methodology at this stage is to get it working on the floating point DSP first and to gain recent experience in both Speex and the TI DSP range while I do so. Then I'll enter into serious discussions about

Sound skips in all games since Wine 1.1.6
In 1.1.5 the sound/music in games played allright. Since 1.1.6 it skips badly - plays for a couple of seconds, then stops for half a second, then plays again, then skips and so on. Happens on every game on Steam - Team Fortress 2, Everyday Shooter, Peggle Extreme - and also without Steam - Icy Tower. I have Razer Barracuda AC-1 sound card. I've found that in Winecfg when I choose Alsa driver

WoW - WotLK - install is a hassle :(
Very disappointing on the install so far. The files are on the disk in some format that is only letting me see two of the 'some number more than two' files that are there. One of the files I can see is and Install.exe but it does nothing when double clicked, nothing when I right click and select 'Open with "Wine Windows Program Loader"'. When I try to run it from a

WoW + Wine + Twinview = Annoying jumping cursor
Ok, this isn't really a simple thing to describe so I'll state the basic problem first and things I've noticed that are most likely associated with it. The problem is while playing World of Warcraft on a Twinview activated X-Server, the camera will do random jumps around my character when the mouse is clicked. Now by 'random' I actually mean a few things: 1. This

Running R2WinBUGS on Linux using Wine
Hello all (1) My departmental IT guru has installed the latest Wine (0.9.48) on a well maintained Fedora 7 server, so that I can run WinBUGS from R via R2WinBUGS (this seems like the only real option for running BUGS from R on a Linux platform?) (2) WinBUGS seems to run okay, except for the following output errors: === === === fixme:keyboard:RegisterHotKey (0x10024,13,0x00000002,3): stub
