polycom custom ring tones (slightly OT)
Hi all,
Has anyone made up custom ring tones for the Polycom SIP phones? We use
different rings for different lines, but the ones it comes with are all very
similar. In the interesting of sharing, here's one I made up for paging:
<PAGE_BEEP se.pat.ringer.13.name="Page Beep"
se.pat.ringer.13.inst.1.type="chord" se.pat.ringer.13.inst.1.value="12"

PoE VOIP phones in Australia
Hi,
Are there any resellers of phones that can take power over ethernet in
Australia? All I can find for sale online is the BT-10[12], which is cheap
but not featureful enough, and the Snom 190, which is about right, but
neither of them support PoE. I'm particularly intereseted in the Snom 220
with the keypad expansion for our receptionist.
Although, could you make a PoE split-out cable

polycom repair
Hi all,
Has anyone had any experience getting Polycom phones repaired? The screen on
one of our IP600s got smashed, and I'm wondering if it's worth the effort to
get it repaired, or if it'd just be cheaper to buy a new phone.
Thanks,

Polycom IP 600 DHCP problem
I've got a Polycom IP 600 that doesn't want to DHCP. It DHCPDISCOVERs,
there's a DHCPOFFER, it DHCPREQUESTs and a DCHPACK is returned, but 3
seconds later it repeats the process and never boots. The phone works fine
with a static IP, and the DCHP setup works ok for an IP 500. I updated to
bootrom 2.6.2 and sip firmware 1.5.2 which didn't help. Any suggestions?

polycom 501 configuration setting
I recently got a polycom 501.
I was trying to get the phone to accept the TFTP boot files.
I was REALLY confused when I finally figured out that
the phone does FTP by default and you have to go change it to TFTP using the
keyboard menus to switch it to TFTP.
Am I missing something here? I certainly would have thought the phone
would be intelligent
enough to try a FTP first - If you dont get

Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8
Bouncing a thread from the device drivers list:
http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=357176
Does anybody know if OpenSolaris will support this new Supermicro card,
based on the Marvell 88SE6480 chipset? It''s a true PCI Express 8 port JBOD
SAS/SATA controller with pricing apparently around $125.
If it works with OpenSolaris it sounds pretty much perfect.

ldap passdb failover
Hi,
Does the
passdb backend = ldapsam:"ldap://ldap.daa.com.au ldap://yaminon.daa.com.au",
smbpasswd
syntax actually do proper failover? I have a samba 3.0.9 server on FC2
that's been overheating (our aircon failed), and the ldap server doesn't
start automatically. The logs said:

CallerID Error causes problems for Polycom phones
Hi everyone,
I have been dealing with a certain issue with a particular customer site
for months now. The problem occurs when there is an error with caller
id as shown in the following:
WARNING[16036]: chan_zap.c:6309 ss_thread: CallerID returned with error
on channel 'Zap/3-1'
When this happens, it appears that the call still goes through as I can
see the caller still navigating

Dreamweaver CS4 bugs
Hi all, I've been using Dreamweaver CS4 with WINE for the last couple of days, here are a couple of bugs that I noticed.
WINE buglist for Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 Version 10.0 Build 4117:
Shift doesn't work in the listbox but ctrl does (for example, when using the recordset window)
After opening some menus, the menus do not disappear, not even when minimizing, and stay there until the

Polycom Microbrowser
I have just spent the morning playing around with a Polycom IP600's
microbrowser. Everything is working pretty well. In answer to the
question of what type of XML it runs, it appears to be more or less
XHTML-compliant. I have created a basic set of web pages allowing users
to clock in and out against our MySQL timeclock system, running a PHP
back-end. It's running like a champ.

Problems with widescreen (16:9) under CentOS 5 w/ xorg-x11-drv-i810-1.6.5-9.40.el5
I am the tech guy for a local library. We have a network containing

Can someone help? We have legitimately obtained these phones but even our
official distributor can't get their hands on updated firmware. The only
thing we have found is http://www.freedomphones.net/polycom/files/?M=A which
has only old versions.

Dialing from "Placed Calls" on Polycom IP501 doesn't always work
Greetings,
Has anyone noticed that attempting to place a call from the "Placed
Calls" list on a Polycom IP501 by pressing the 'Dial' softkey sometimes
simply returns the phone to the idle screen? It is not related to the
number being dialed, as we have observed two entries for the same
number, one of which worked and the other didn't.
We've experimented with calls

OT: Polycom BootRom 3.1.3 and vsftpd 2.0.3 WARNING!!!
Hello everyone,
Please forgive the exclamation points but I have been battling this one
off and on for about four days now. Sorry for the cross post.
It all started with a box of IP 501s. I contacted my reseller and
obtained the latest BootRom and SIP firmware. Unzipped, configured,
copied over to my FTP server (running AstLinux, of course). The phone
booted, so far so good. Updated

Yes. I hope that it would make things a lot faster, especially over the
network. However, it wouldn't really matter in the common case of just
showing a menu and booting from there; now when we have hierarchical menus.
