911 @ Zap Channel Breakin
Ok here is one for you. I know we all do the this for 911: exten => _911,1,Dial(Zap/1/911) exten => _9911,1,Dial(Zap/1/911) And this probably is more then acceptable for most of us. However I have a system setup that uses SIP for most calls and 1 POTS line. We use a "least cost" routing that uses the POTS line for local calls AND SIP when appropiate. What I want to do is

connect Sipura with Asterisk - both behind NAT
Does anybody have a good link how to connect Sipura with Asteriks, both behind NAT? I'm using FWD but their connection is like a weather (especially IAX), I need something more reliable. I was thinking of using stun and/or proxy but can not find any good link explaining how to setup Linux server -- #Joseph

CDR Log analizer software
Hello all, I'm looking for software for my asterisk logs that will compile the information into nice web-based charts and graphs. Something that works similar to webalizer for apache. I want to be able to spot trends of usage, call volume levels, disconnect/failure levels, and basically see exactly where my system has been at over the past day/week/month, etc. . I would prefer for

WellTech 380x Gateway
Ok this is a simple question... What has been your experience with the WellTech 38xx series (I'm looking specifically at the 3802) VoIP gateway? I'm looking for a good (and hopefully not too expensive) VoIP/T.38 gateway for my office. Asterisk intergration is not a major factor at this time but may be later on. How well does it work? Is Echo a problem? Do the T.38 capablities

PRI dead in USA?
Hi- Because a majority of my customers are in Europe, I've gotten quite used to working with ISDN (PRI) and BRI on a regular basis. Recently one of my customers asked me if I could terminate a few lines locally here in the USA (California), so I called up SBC to enquire as to how much it would cost to install a BRI here. Although the rates were reasonable (except the installation), I got

OT: PRI costs in US
Hello! Several of my customers would like to add a backup to their Internet connection. ISDN is a good solution: decently fast for a dial-up-type connection, yet still faily affordable. While I was at it, I decided to look at a couple of more creative telephone service options to possibly improve their service or lower costs at the same time. These customers range from having just a

Quad BRI card
Hi all Does Digium make a quad BRI card? I can't see anything of the sort on their page but I thought they might call it something else in the States. Failing that, can anyone recommend a make/model that would handle 4 BRI ports? -- Cheers Wayne

"ring splash"
Something new to me. Recently installed a 1.4.30 box for a small office with four POTS lines in a hunt (Digium TDM410P). Had the telco put a "call forward" option on the main line of the hunt. They dial a feature code from their desk phones (Polycom IP450) that results in forwarding the main number to our VoIP service. This is all to let them "try out" our dialtone

DID over analog?
I've some DID's that I'm using for in-bound faxing, but I'm having some trouble with getting that working perfectly on my T1. So I'm thinking of pointing them to an analog line. Will the DID's simply come in over the analog, presumably sending the DID digits via DTMF? Or is that not something that'll work? Thanks, -Ken

ISDN
Hi, I'm in the process of setting up Asterisk in a SOHO environment using ISDN for trunking. More specifically a BRI 2B+D circuit where one SPID is used for the business and the other is used for personal. The circuit already exists, but is presently being interfaced to POTS phones via a TA. This configuration is not very common in the US, but we are fortunate that our LEC offers it price

USA BRI -- any hope at all?
Folks -- First, apologies for not lurking for weeks or months to get the culture of the list. I read the recent post about improvement to the quality of posts with some amusement and full agreement. The problem is a big and very real one. I hope I'm not deepening it. But my question isn't explicitly asked with this subject line or definitively answered in the archives -- that I have

outbound caller ID
Hi, I would like to know if one can set the outgoing caller ID within Asterisk when calls are going out through: 1) an analog POTS line (I suppose not) 2) a telco BRI line (I don't think so) 3) a telco PRI line (maybe) 4) a voip provider (surely) Thanks, Vieri ____________________________________________________________________________________ Moody friends. Asterisk & BRI in the USA - Episode 2 "The Phantom Sales Rep"
Hey all here's an update. I do care to thank everyone for your information on BRI interfaces that operate in USA/NA. I know the responses are were limited, but the selection of hardware is also limited. (Shame because BRI would fit my needs perfectly). To continue, it's now been over 4 weeks since I last talked to the ILEC sales rep about pricing and plans. Unfortunately there

Anyone using National ISDN (NI-1) BRI under Linux?
I have a North American BRI configured as National ISDN (NI-1) on an SBC (Nortel?) switch. SBC calls this "FastTrak ISDN", and it's surprisingly inexpensive -- less than two POTS lines. I've been trying to find an inexpensive PCI interface solution to connect this to Asterisk as voice lines. I prefer ISDN BRI over POTS lines because of the improved signalling, fast dialing,

Verizon ISDN
I'm looking to use Asterisk with Verizon ISDN centex service in the US. I'd be connecting to an NT1 so I'd need an S/T interface. Users would have SIP phones registered with Asterisk and sharing the ISDN lines. The only PCI ISDN card that will support ISDN signalling in the US seems to be the Eicon Diva Server cards. These are hard to find and very expensive ($2500 for the Quad

Three (quick?) questions...
[Please excuse if this is a repeat; I initially tried to send it from a different account, and it's been held up for a couple of days awaiting moderation.] 1) What's the absolute minimum required (hardware-wise) in order to get one in-bound POTS line into Asterisk, and then have IP phones "inside?" [In other words, I obviously need a NIC -- but what would be the

[POTS/BRI] Neutral comparisons of PCI vs. box?
Hello I need to find a recent and neutral comparison of the major products available to connect an Asterisk server to the telephone network, whether ISDN (BRI) or PSTN, and through a PCI card or some external box. I'm told there are less issues (echo, stability) with external boxes compared to PCI cards. Apparently, the main brands are Digium, Sangoma, Rhino Equipment, Patton, and

Linux Kernel Timer Frequency and Asterisk
Ok here is a real geek question, I building my own linux kernel for my asterisk system and came across the kernel setting for the timer frequency. I have one of 3 hardcode choices 100Hz, 250 Hz and 1000Hz. From what I understand the default Freq was changed from 100Hz in kernel 2.4 to 1000Hz (1KHz) in kernel 2.6. Timing is a BIG issue in asterisk with all the TDM and zap channel stuff.
