FC3, TDM11B (DEVPCI) and asterisk
Hey folks; I am a old Dialogic telephony hack and have tried asterisk a while back on a laptop with the OSS module and I liked what I saw. I recently came across some info regarding asterisk 1.0 and thought I should give it a go. I used a AMD K7 MB, compiled the binaries without a real problem and realized that I might have a sound card issue because I couldn't hear the messages but the demo

Definitive HowTo for CENTOS 5 Winbind - Samba - Active Directory Integration
Hi all, I have been out of the linux / unix loop for a good three years now, and a lot has changed.. I have a windows 2003 server on my home office lan as my domain controller. I would like to know if there is a good how-to that applies to Centos5 to achieve the following: Joining the centos machine to the AD domain (I believe I have done this already) Sharing files from it

now available: RwebWin
I ported Jeff Banfield's Rweb (http://www.math.montana.edu/Rweb/) to Windows. In the process, I dropped some things (non-JavaScript version, Rweb modules and data sets), but also simplified the installation process by removing the dependency on NetPBM. A Ghostscript dependency remains, however. See http://www.liquidmarkets.com/m.php?m=News&file=article&sid=6 for up-to-date

Lower cost router suitable for VOIP ?
Hi, we're testing Asterisk 1 RC 2 behind ordinary router and NAT. Since we're sharing network with web server it seems like voip packets are not coming through fast enough (Digium demo dies after few seconds...). It's the same if I make direct calls (passing Asterisk) so we conclude it's network problem - it also work normally outside our router... I wonder what solutions can we

Sipura SPA-2000
Hello, I am very new to asterisk and voip in general and so far have managed to get the FXO card and a few sip phones working fine. My question is where does the Sipura SPA 2000 come in the picture? Can it be used as an extension (i.e FXS) ? Or is it to be used as a line (i.e FXO)? Or it can be used as both? My understanding is that its just like another ATA186. Is that true? I guess what I

feature request: add -a to scp for archive-style copy
This is a feature request for scp. scp has no easy option to copy symlinks, etc. to reproduce a directory tree. The -r option follows symlinks and reads the data out of device files when copying. A few years ago, the -a option was added to normal cp, replacing the cumbersome and arcane (cd wherever1 ; tar cf - whatever) | (cd wherever2 ; tar xpf - ) with cp -a wherever1/whatever wherever2

Selecting a compatible motherboard
One of my servers is not compatible with Centos 4, so I want to replace the motherboard with a compatible one. I came across this site and would appreciate any comments on whether I can rely on selecting a board that is listed as compatible with Unix? http://www.dealtime.com/xPP-motherboards--asustek~V-rows For instance, the ASUS P5P800 Motherboard? Thank you.... Todd -- Ariste Software

ping latency using vhost_net, macvtap and virtio
Hi all, I have been testing network throughput and latency and I was wondering if my measurements are as expected. For the test, I used Fedora 17 for both host and guest, using kernel 3.5.2-3.fc17.86_64. Pinging an external server on the LAN from the host, using a gigabit interface, the results are: # ping -c 10 172.16.1.1 PING 172.16.1.1 (172.16.1.1) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from

About ping latency in SR-IOV
Hi, Greg, Eddie, I found that in SR-IOV + HVM environment, ping latency depends on ping interval. The NIC is Intel 82576 (1000Mbps), server uses xen-4.0.1, domain-0 is kernel-2.6.32 and HVM is kernel-2.6.31. The server and client are connected through a 1000Mbps switch. The data is as following: # ping -i 1 192.168.0.21 PING 192.168.0.21 (192.168.0.21) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from

IE5.5 (was:(no subject))
Thanks for the reply! I tried the instructions on Frank's IE5.5 page, including copying all the files and directories to my ~/.wine/fake_windows/ directory (except jsnl.dll, which I could not find...) I do not know if dcom95 exists somewhere in one of the directories that I copied across, but I know that exactly the same thing happens when I try to run IE on the Windows partition (instead of
