While I'm asking about the Polycom ip500, the answers for all phones where mic/handset/headset levels are adjustable would be of interest to many I'm sure. For the ip500, the default value for the handset seems to be voice.gain.tx.analog.handset="3" I've noticed that echo all but goes away when one reduces the mic volume on almost any phone. Is there a provisioning setting for this anywhere? (I'd like to avoid a separate amplifier between the phone and handset if possible.) I have three polycom 501 that are all hearing echo. The other party sounds fine but you can hear yourself rather well. The volume does help if lowered but that also makes the other party extremely quiet. Is there any way to control the gain of the mic or stop the microphone from picking up so much from the handset. A Polycom 550 and a IAX client (Mozphone and ZoIPer were used) are having a conversation. Call quality is reported as good except for an echo with a 3 second delay. I have been testing with Polycom IP600 phones for a month or so. I found out that there are frequent problems with the handset. The problem is I can hear the other end but the other end cannot hear me.
