Re: NVIDIA on Linux
Hello scty library,
I had huge problems with NVIDIA cards on Linux. The
screen would go blank as soon as X tried to load. I
only tried using the driver that came with CentOS.
After lots of parts swapping, I found that the monitor
(obviously) and (even) the motherboard make a
difference.

Finally, I gave up on NVIDIA cards -- I got a Voodoo

php mail extensions
Hi,
I have recently had problems with doing a security update from the centos
mirrors where the mail extensions were missing from the php package so any
ecommerce sites stopped after the update via yum:
php i386 4.3.2-25.ent.centos.1 update
php-imap i386 4.3.2-25.ent.centos.1 update
php-mysql i386 4.3.2-25.ent.centos.1 update
php-pgsql i386 4.3.2-25.ent.centos.1 update

Trying to get gog.com's FALLOUT to run
I use a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.5, and Crossover Games for Mac version 7.2.1.
I decided to try an experiment and see if the gog.com version of FALLOUT would work on Crossover Games after reading that it doesn't work in the current version.
The difference between the original disk version of FALLOUT AND FALLOUT 2 and the gog.com version is that the people at gog.com have not only

PHP+Oracle problem
Hi!
I have succesfully installed Oracle 9.2.0.4 on Centos. Everything is
fine with it.
Then I recompiled php-4.3.2-19.ent.src.rpm with
rpmbuild --rebuild --define 'oracle 1' php-4.3.2-19.ent.src.rpm
The compilation was successful, and I got the php and the php-oci8
rpms.
Then I installed them both. After this one running the following PHP
script:

php-snmp : spec, rpms, srpms.
Hello,
I just built a complete php suite including php-snmp
RPM. (php-snmp-4.3.2-19.ent.i386.rpm). I inspired myself from this
bugzilla page: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/beta/show_bug.cgi?id=123149
can I upload binaries, sources and specfile somewhere to share it with
you ? I was thinking about "Extras" repository ? why not ?

Nvidia Driver and CentOS-3
Ok, Well I have narrowed it down to my mother board.
It is a Biostar mother board with an NForce2 chipset.
I have the Nvidia driver working on my home machine
which is and Asus board with an NForce chipset running
CentOS-3 and the Nvidia driver works fine.
It has to be the NForce2 Chipset that is no good. I
have tried updateing bios, Kernel and Xfree. There is
just something with this

Black (transparent?) Screen - wine 1.3.34
Hi,
I'm having some issues with multiple games running under Wine, namely the GoG versions of Age of Wonder and Baldur's Gate. Both of these are listed on WineHQ as compatible, but I'm not having the same luck.
If Compiz is running when I start the game, I get a black screen, but the game itself is obviously working, as the game music is playing and I can hear menu buttons pressed

Age of Wonders access violation upon start and crashes
Hello,
I am Wine 1.3.25 installed in Mac OS X 10.6.8 via Macports 2.0.1. With it I have been able to install Age of Wonders 1.36 downloaded from GoG.com.
However:
1. The Settings configuration program gives an access violation and crashes.
2. If I start the game itself, I would hear the game's music very briefly, then it would fall silent. And at about the same time I would get an access

Insufficient Free HD Space
I recently bought some classic games from GoodOldGames.com (specifically Fallout 1 and 2), and they worked perfectly on my WIndows machine, but on my Linux box they install fine but fail to run. When I try to fire up the game it gives me an error saying I need 20megs of free HD space - and given that I have 480 gigs of storage, thats not an issue. Do I need to allocate Wine some extra space

update killed my x
X server, that is (as opposed to my ex-spouse...) Anyway, I was
loving life with my rebuilt 2.4.21-9.0.1.EL.c0custom041130a kernel,
and then ran "yum update", which gave me a grub line for
2.4.21-20.0.1EL, but the 21-20 not only won't work with the old X
settings, I can't get it to set up X at all. I tried running "yum
update" from a console on this kernel, but yum
