kudzu - fedora core 3
Hi list!: A question about the refinement of the configuration: Always when I start a domain kudzu (hardware detection daemon) ask me for remove hardware. I answer yes, but in the next boot kudzu ask again. I''m guessing that kudzu is asking for remove the «real» drivers that are inside the domU because the domainU was created copying the dom0 system in the domU. How can I deal with

Why Kudzu, Why?
So I have a CentOS 5 machine, which I recently did a 'yum update' on. Everything went fine, but I rebooted as a precaution (just to confront any problems which might arise the first time after an update). And sure enough, when the machine came back up, the network didn't work. Luckilly, someone said (and I quote) 'mv /etc/sysconfig/networking-scripts/ifcfg-eth0.bak

Hey Kudzu, leave that device alone!
How do I get kudzu to still look for new equipment but stop checking to see if some devices are present or not? For example. I have an ATEN USB keyboard/mouse adapter. Sometimes at boot, it is not ready? or something and then kudzu asks if I want that in or not. Of course I want it in!!! I may have to unplug and plug it back in, but don't bother me. I have a similar challenge with

network card / kudzu
When I have installed centOS, Kudzu says my network cards have been removed, and right after it finds them again and asks me to configure them? It looks like it is the same thing it finds that it just said was removed. There are 3 Relatek|RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ cards in there and it is all of them it will remove and reconfigure. It doesn't matter if I select ignore or reconfigure them, they

Installed plus kernel, kudzu did not see atheros wifi
I took the dive and installed the CentosPlus kernel. I remembered that I could always boot with the old kernel if things went south. But on reboot, kudzu wanted to delete the Atheros config. I told it not to, but.... Would a simple 'freshen' of madwifi-0.9.1-24.el4.at.i386.rpm ? an rpm -qa |grep wifi returns: madwifi-kmdl-2.6.9-34.0.2.EL-0.9.1-24.el4.at madwifi-0.9.1-24.el4.at

TDM400 lost after reboot
Hi My card is working, but when I reboot the machine, most of the times it is not working, I get "ztcfg: ZT_CHANCONFIG failed on channel 1: No such device or address (6)" To make it work again I have to shut down, remove the card, reboot so kudzu will remove the config. shut down again, put the card back in, reboot, now kudzu see it, I choose "Ignore" and then it's

How to remove standard ISDN drivers from RedHat
I have newly installed a RedHat 4.0 EL rebuild. The install was done without the ISDN card present. After disabling kudzu and haldaemon I inserted the card. Stil that *(&$^&%$(&$^!!!!!! kudzu shit modified my config and is loading hisax, crc_ccit and isn modules. Even worse, they do not appear in /etc/modprobe.conf which means that that f*cking kudzu added the modules to initrd.

Replacement tape drive configuration
CentOS 4.8 Hi All: We recently had a Sony SDX-500V tape drive fail on one of our servers running CentOS 4.8. I have now replaced it with a spare SDX-500C. The problem that I am having now is that the failed drive had ceased responding to SCSI commands and we have since rebooted the system which resulted in the tape drive being removed from our current hardware configuration and the system does

Kudzu is not recognizing my Atheros card. Actually I was having this problem with the plus kernel and I fell back to 2.6.9-34.0.2 Running on ethernet until I can figure out what to update.

journal aborting and remounting /boot as ro
Hi, Apologies in advance for any breaches of netiquette, I couldn't find any guidelines about submission to this forum but I'd be grateful for your help on something. My /boot filesystem is being remounted shortly after start-up as read-only. I get the following messages... journal_bmap_Ra7a5f568: journal block not found at offset 12 on ide0(3,1) Aborting journal on device ide0(3,1)

Kernel/harware question
Hello, I have an IBM Netvista and since kernel 2.6.9-34.0.2, I have not been able to upgrade to the latest kernel. If I do, in about 8 hours, the system becomes sluggish almost unresponsive. Currently I am running 4.6 but with the kernel mentioned above. I think I may have figured out the problem. It seems when I reboot with the new kernel, kudzu runs and wants to configure a different driver

network prob on Centos 4.4/HP DL320 G2
Hi! I've installed Centos 4.4 on a machine at work (it's a HP Proliant DL-320 G2 rackmout server that serves my desktop). In recent days (Centos 4.4 has only been installed for a little over a week), like, since Wed or Thu last week, every time I reboot Kudzu wants to remove the network adaptors then reinstall them and breaks the network. I've gone to the point of disabling one of

Oddity with 4.5 and linode.com
I just did a "yum update" on my linode instance to update from 4.4 to 4.5. That worked just fine. But on reboot it took 3 minutes to do the "checking for new hardware" stage. I initially thought that's because of a new release, so I did another reboot. That also took 2 minutes. OK, a minor issue (I don't reboot often) but... dunno if this is a UML issue or a linode

Dual nw card problem again
I have had problems like this before. Probably there is something important that I don't know about routing. Let me introduce to you "Lasso2", a CentOS 4 www server that has been working perfectly well for years. Now I added a second nw card (eth1), automatically using kudzu. I cannot get this dual nw setup to work. The first nw card (eth0) stopped at once working properly,

RHEL 6 guest support
The following patches add RHEL 6 guest support to virt-v2v. This was actually quite a lot easier than I expected. * [PATCH 1/4] Update virt-v2v.conf for RHEL 6 virtio support * [PATCH 2/4] Check kudzu exists before attempting to disable it * [PATCH 3/4] Use dracut rather than mkinitrd if it's available * [PATCH 4/4] Properly convert RHEL 6 guest console

MAC address changes after cloning
Hi, I have x86 system and have used clonezilla to clone the entire hardisk of system A and restored it on another x86 system, system B. After the cloning process, i notice that the MAC address of the system B in the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 is changed and is having the MAC address of system A. The interesting part is that if i do an ifconfig from the bash prompt, the MAC

Detecting second network interface
Me again. The ASUS P5N32-SLI motherboard in my new machine has dual NICs but CentOS has only detected one of them. I've tried rebooting with the network plugged in only to the second one, but kudzu still doesn't find it. Any suggestions?
