Rebooting Polycom's - Could not create address for 'XXXX'
We are running a PBX box for our small company's phone system. There are two phones on our network that are not working though. When I reboot a phone that works correctly, like this (note 4907 is the phones extension): asterisk -rx "sip notify polycom-check-cfg 4907" It returns this: Sending NOTIFY of type 'polycom-check-cfg' to '4907' and the phone proceeds to

Polycom IP 500 bitmaps and Idle Display Animation
Has anyone got this to work? Under Idle Display Animation, the administrators guide says "For example, a company logo could be displayed".. In the ipmid.cfg file, I enabled 'ind.idleDisplay.enabled' (ie changed it to 1), and under the IP 500 section, I added an entry for the bitmap that I want to display: bitmap.IP_500.66.name ="arf" but from there I'm not sure

auto provision of IP501 polycom
Has anyone been able to get the IP501 to discover the FTP server IP address (via dhcp or dns) and download 100% of the config from a provisioning server? We are still having to touch each unit to enter the ftp server address and password, as well as set many of the options that will not take from the config file. Have a sample config file you are willing to share? What is required in

Polycom phones w/ two lines on different servers
Hi all - This isn't really directly Asterisk related, but has anyone successfully set up a Polycom phone to register two lines on two different Asterisk boxes? I can get the first line to register, but the second one does not. I can still place calls from that second line, which indicates to me the server, user, and secret are correct. I'm running the newest 2.6 series firmware with the

Investigating international calls fraud
I?ve seen the following exploits of Asterisk / FreePBX boxes: 1) Default PlcmSpIp username and password for Polycom provisioning 2) Insecure SIP usernames and secrets 3) FreePBX GUI accessable from the internet 4) OS remote exploit (maybe ssh/ssl exploit) Mitigation options: 1) Don?t use an easy to guess or default password on provisioning servers. 2) Use secure secrets. Polycom 501 won't take new bootrom.ld or sip.ld...
...even when I do the "factory reset" (4-6-8-* then 456). I tried using FTP and TFTP, but even though the phone uploads the log, I get these errors: 0927211350|app1 |3|00|Time has been set from 0.us.pool.ntp.org(69.60.124.59). 0927211350|cfg |4|00|Could not get all 512 bytes of the header. 0927211351|cfg |4|00|Could not get all 512 bytes of the header. 0927211422|app1 |4|00|Loaded

Polycom provision errors still! Arg!
I have been struggling over central provisioning for quite some time. I have eagerly watched each post with like problems but have yet to find a reliable answer. I have a Polycom 501 and I am trying to provision from an FTP server, and just to take any routing out of the issue it is on the same subnet. I am running the 2.0.1.0291 firmware and 3.2.2 bootrom. I set the IP info on the phone and

Yikes! Polycom 501 chokes on BootRom 4.0.0?
I was progressively upgrading this phone from 3.1.2 to 3.2.3, then to 4.0.0. v3.2.3 worked fine, but when I went to 4.0.0 (Even adding the more specific 2345-11500-040.bootrom.ld), it won't run, and just keeps rebooting. Now I've got a really nice doorstop unless someone knows how to get out of this predicament. Help! 0925003705|cfg |3|00|Beginning to provision phone 0925003705|dns

What does system-config-netboot do???
Having given up on getting system-config-netboot to work (reading the pointers I have received to the wiki, say it is broken), I have the simple question "What is it suposed to do???" I have tried to look at the code, but its written in python and I cant follow the logic. Im sure I can easily do whatever is necessary at the command line If I just knew what it was trying to do with its

netboot arbitrary linux systems
I've been using pxelinux with good success to netboot knoppix systems. This is link has been the base for my work so far: http://www.babytux.org/articles/howto/how2netknoppix.php I keep all of the netbootable systems in /tftpboot/systems/knoppix-#.##, where knoppix-#.## is the filesystem extracted from the knoppix cd. I use a variation on the knoppix-terminalserver script to generate a
