LinuxWorld Expo Update
Well, the first day was interesting. We a variety of questions from
why do we do this, what's going on with RH, how come this is the first
I've heard of you. And hundreds more. The good thing is that we've
recieve a very positive response from everyone that visited our booth.
Such a positive response that all our CentOS CD's are gone, and most
of the cAos CD's are gone, and

Centos at FOSDEM in Brussels?
Hi,
I'm a Centos user in Brussels, BE. I'll be going to the FOSDEM conference
next weekend and I was thinking about printing up and giving out centos CDs
while there.
1) any other centos folks going to be at FOSDEM?
2) any guidelines for printing CD's - I can only run 50 or 100...

Mod_Throttle for Apache 2?
We have some custom software that is put out on our 6
clustered(balanced) webservers. Every 5 minutes that software checks
into our server for a new version, if there is a new version it
downloads it (20MB file). This happens about 2-3 times per month.
Currently there are over 10000 clients that need to download the
update. Up until this past week we were able to handle the load and

<OT> RedHat support
As a parallel question to my thread about CentOS for commercial use,
here's a question I've been wondering about.
How many of you who have RHEL licenses and paid support licenses have
ever needed actually to request support? And if you did was the
support any bit more timely or accurate than community support for
CentOS or other distros?

cAos/CentOS Users in Boston/New England area
I'm still looking for any volunteers in the Boston or New England
areas that would be willing to help out at LinuxWorld in February. It
goes Feb 14th - 17th, but the expo part is only 15th - 17th. If you
can't come all three days, that's fine, but I would appreciate if
there were a couple people that could come at least a day or two.
Also, If you help out you get a 3 day pass to the

Oracle Apps on Linux
Hi folks,
I seem to remember someone asking how to install Oracle Apps on Linux so
here goes a quick and dirty how-to:-
0 - You will need access to Metalink (Oracle's support site) for
downloading patches and read documentation on line.
1 - Size up your Linux box to at least 1Gb memory and 200Gb of disk space.
I'm assuming you have a Pentium 4 at around 3GHz.
2 - Download and

Red Hat Legal Targets www.centos.org website content
To squelch the questions (related to the changing content on
www.centos.org), I decided this needs to be published.
The CentOS Team has been contacted by representatives of Red Hat's hired
legal team regarding the use of Red Hat Trademarks on www.centos.org.
(Full Email follows.) While the CentOS team feels we are using Red
Hat's marks in a fair and legal manner, we have no choice

Exciting news about cAos & CentOS - Please read
I have the great pleasure to announce that the cAos Foundation has
been given the right to an exhibitor booth at the upcoming LinuxWorld
Expo in Boston, Massachusetts from February 15th - 17th. (More info
here: http://www.linuxworldexpo.com/live/12/events/12BOS05A).
This is a awesome opportunity to further cAos and CentOS linux. But I
do not feel that we should give 1/2 an effort. I feel that

OT: Which programming language should I use?
Sorry for the OT post, just looking for a pointer from somebody who's
been there and done that.
I'm looking to write a program that will allow for managing documents
that have been encrypted with AES. I want the program to be as
cross-platform as possible, so at the least it needs to run in
Win2K/WinXP and in linux X-windows (X.org).
Now, I used to write in Java a few years ago, so

CentOS for commercial use
I'm a home user of CentOS (a desktop and a laptop) because I like the
quality of the product and I love the cost. I'm a great believer in
FOSS.
That being said, I know that some of you use CentOS for production
servers and (perhaps?) desktops as well. I've read at leat one comment
like "I have 20 CentOS servers."
My employer is a firm believer in RHEL - license costs are

New CentOS intro presentations given at LinuxWorld
Hi,
I added 2 new CentOS presentations, a Dutch version that was prepared for
LinuxWorld 2007 Utrecht (NL) and an English updated version that was
prepared for LinuxWorld 2008 Brussels (BE).
You can find both presentations at:
http://wiki.centos.org/Events/Presentations
I would like to receive feedback from an as wide audience as possible. The
Dutch one needs to be updated to include all

Expo and Window Snapping
Not sure if this is where bugs should be reported, but here it goes.
When Window Snapping is on and Expo mode is launched, dragging windows is
jerky near the edges. This is especially noticeable with large windows,
such as maximized Windows. There is an Expo option called "Immediate moves"
that disables wobbly. If the problem is not easily fixed, perhaps

Linux World Expo 2004 in SF
The cAos Foundation and hosted projects have been granted a booth in the Dot
Org Pavilion of Linux World Expo in SF this August.
If you are a developer or contributor of the project and would like to help
staff the both, please send me a private email so we can coordinate.
I don't have the actual numbers of Exhibitor badges that we can get yet, but I
would assume it is not many. This means
