4beta gpg key
Hi,
Maybe a stupid question:
I just installed centos 4beta on a Dell inspiron 3500 laptop.
So far so good. But where do I find the gpg key?

To the best of my knowledge, nobody''s working on that. The main
difficulty in enabling that is making sure that puppet doesn''t run ''yum
groupinstall'' (or ''yum groupupdate'') on every run. To avoid that,

CentOS-4 RC1 (i386) Bugfixes
All,
There are 3 bugfix updates for CentOS-4 (RC1).
1. mod_perl needed to be recompiled after the RH errata for perl was
incorporated, but it was not flagged by the perl update.
( https://bugzilla.caosity.org/show_bug.cgi?id=803 ) (thanks Joshua
Hirsh)
2. httpd identified itself as Apache/2.0.52 (Red Hat) Server instead of

Managing Yum repositories
I''m trying to use Puppet 0.19.3 to manage Yum repositories, using the
''yumrepo'' type. Our repository configuration files currently have a line
baseurl=file:///net/yum/CentOS4.1/$basearch/
where "$basearch" gets interpreted by ''yum''. I''ve tried the line
baseurl => "file:///net/yum/CentOS4.1/$basearch/"

Java Error - 4.1 - JDK 1.3.1_02
Hi
I posted a message some time ago regarding getting JDK 1.3.1_02 running
on CentOS4.1 - I mamaged to get this to run by installing the Oracle
patch from metalink. A user is now approaching me with an error that has
appeared during compilation after going from RedHat7.3 -> CentOS4.1
The error is
error: compiler message file broken:

New Standard/Daylight time-change dates in rhel4u2 but not centos4.2?

I can execute the following commands and get
the indicated output:
date --date="Mar 25 15:00:00 UTC 2006"
Sat Mar 25 10:00:00 EST 2006
date --date="Mar 25 15:00:00 UTC 2007"
Sun Mar 25 11:00:00 EDT 2007
As you can see, the output differs for 2006 and 2007. That
indicates that rhel4u2 includes changes required by the

Alert icon for yum
Hi all. I have a simple question: CentOS relies mostly on "yum" to
keep systems up to date, although I understand that like on RHEL,
"up2date" is also available. On my system I've run both KDE and GNOME
as Graphical Desktops under X (though I presently run GNOME), and I've
noticed that there is an applet called "CentOS Network Alert Icon" (from

Kernel compilation - 2.6, x86_64, CentOS4.1
Hi
I am having trouble compiling some 2.6 kernels on a x86_64 box under
CentOS4.1. I cannot use xconfig at all and menuconfig on my system is
unreadable. It appears to be something to do with the Qt library but I
have all the necessary bits installed:
qt-devel-3.3.3-9.3
qt-3.3.3-9.3
but note that the second of these only is installed both for x86 and
x86_64 - the first is installed for x86_64

x86_64 rpms
I have just loaded up CentOS4.1 on a PE1850 with twin Intel x86_64's.
When I came to clean out those packages I didn't want (because some always
creep in however careful you are), apart from those with dependencies, I
notice a lot of cases where there are two packages of the same name
installed - one clearly an x86 package and one an x86_64 package.
