Cisco 7960 upgrades
Hi, I got a problem of having to upgrade 35 Cisco 7960 phones from default firmware of 3.1 to 7.5. The problem I get is that when trying to upgrade I see on the tftplog that it can't seem to find the file (8 character issue). So I renamed the files to suit what is supposed to be in them. I am trying incremental upgrades from 3.1 -> 5.3 -> 7.5, with no luck. It goes to

CISCO 7960G FIRMWARE
Hi everybody, I will receive my CISCO 7960G tomorrow. I've ordered it as a "global spare" without any callmanager licence. Now I don't know if I can get firmware-updates so could please someone send me the SIP-firmware? Is the default firmware the "skinny" one? Wich would be better to use with asterisk? Thank you very much

OT: cisco 7960G powered by 3com 3CNJPSE
Is anyone using a 3com 3CNJPSE to power a 7960G? I have a couple of 7960Gs and 3CNJPSEs but no combination appears to work. Both phones work fine with a cisco power cube. I get a 47.6V reading across pins 5 and 8 on the patch cable coming from the 3CNJPSE. The network still works through the 3CNJPSE, just no power to the phone until I connect the power cube. Using two straight through wired

Cisco 9971
Hi, I am having a weird issue with a Cisco 9971 phone. I managed to get most of it working, including the side car, however one of the issues is that there seems to be some sort of side tone / beep occurring roughly every 13 seconds or so, as if the phone is activated with call waiting. However none of this is activated and is still making the annoying beeping side tone. The phone does require

Extension Mobility (roaming) Cisco 7960
Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to setup with Asterisk a Cisco 7960 to use extension mobility / roaming. Meaning that a user logs into a phone and his profile moves with him / her. I have a network of ~75 Cisco 7960 phones, running SIP 7.5 distributed across 2 asterisk servers in 2 cities. I would like to enable the users to have the capability to move from one phone to another one

John; I'm trying to flash 7.1. What I followwd was the wiki page you refer to. My real question is do I need the .load file tftp debug shows the 7960G is asking for? Voipsupply didn't supply it. I'm trying to verify that's what I need befor I start hounding them. -JB Hawaii John Bittner wrote: >John, > >You have to go to 7.1 before 7.3 >Also look at this.

Cisco 7960 SIP Firmware.
Hi! The university where I work just bought four Cisco 7960G IP phones (they didn't ask, just came across the door and gave me a box and told me: "Can you make this work with the Asterisk PBX we have?"). According to what I read, there is no much hope, because I have not the SIP firmware (too bad). Has anybody succesfully got an answer from cisco?, or does anybody happend to

Cisco 7914 Expansion Unit (for 7960G IP Phone) & Help With 7960's Speed-dials
Hi, Has anybody been successful in running the 7914 expansion unit for the Cisco 7960G IP phone? For anybody unaware of what the expansion unit does, it provides 14 additional buttons, with an LCD display. The idea, is that with an expansion unit (a 7960 can take upto 2 of these units), a user can either assign more speed-dial's, or can monitor line status/account status. So, you can

Digium TE121P + DAHDI
Hi, Just trying to figure out / solve some echo issues with one of our systems. The server is a Dell R710 running Asterisk 1.6.x and Dahdi 2.2.x The card in the server is a TE121P (with VPMADT032 echo canceller) We are experiencing some weird echo issues with our Cisco 79xx phones, only when we are dialing out via the PRI. The echo is like a side tone, where we can hear ourselves speaking. The

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Are any versions of the Cisco 7940/7960 or 7940G/7960G phones compatible with the 802.4af Power over Ethernet Standard? Cisco 7960g
I'm trying to set-up Asterisk server and I would like to buy 2 SIP phones. Has anybody tried Cisco 7960G? Or 7940? What audio compressions can I use with this phone and Asterisk? Reason why I'm asking is because Cisco supports G.711 and G.729a audio compression (probobaly some tohers but they are not listed on data sheet) and on Asterisk features i found that it supports G.729 but need

Re: Obtaining Cisco Firmware painlessly andLEGITIMATELY?
CDW is not a Gold Cisco partner. I would talk with a group called Shore Group http://www.shoregroup.com I know they do a lot of Cisco VoIP work and can sell you a SmartNet contract no problem. Re: Obtaining Cisco Firmware painlessly and LEGITIMATELY?
I'm in the UK and have had terrible trouble getting the right contract. After looking on voip-info I set off looking for a vendor only to find that no-one sells the $9 contract. Cisco retracted that one :-( I asked for the equivalent and they said I needed a ?20 contract. I said fine but after 20 minutes or so got a call saying I couldn't have that one as it didn't give me access

Cisco 7940 -60 firmware upgrades
This for the archives in case it may help someone: I was able to upgrade two Cisco 7940's from firmware P0030301MFG2 to SIP 7.1 as follows: 1. Installed 7.1 images from the Cisco zip file to the TFTP server. 2. Specified "image_version: P0S3-07-1-00" in SIP<MAC>.cnf and SIPDefault.cnf 3. For the older of the two phones, renamed P003-07-1-00.bin to P0S3-07-.bin, making it

Cisco 7940G/7960G SIP phones local echo on * box.
Our new * server with Cisco SIP phones is now working pretty well. But we still have one problem that has not been resolved. The Cisco SIP phones have a consistent echo. It sounds like about a 500ms delay. This echo is not heard from the POTS side. It is heard when calling another SIP extension in our office. We are running 6.3 firmware on the phones. Any suggestions would be

Cisco 7905G SIP firmware needed
To get the SIP firmware for these phones, you need to buy a Cisco SmartNet support contract (about $75 USD in the USA, though I've heard rumors a Europe-only contract exists for about $10 USD.) You can purchase one through most Cisco resellers. That will give you access to Cisco's download site. Configuration of these phones under SIP is not quite as straight forward as it is with SCCP,

Cisco 7960 And Firmware Upgrades
Hi all! I have a new Cisco 7960 that I am testing out with asterisk, but it is currently loaded with the CallManager firmware. The reseller has sent me the latest SIP firmware files to load onto the phone, but as is mentioned in the Cisco FAQ entry for converting a CallManager phone to SIP, there is a bug in the firmware presently on my phone which prevents it from being upgraded straight to
