High I/O wait with Dovecot POP3
Hello, In the past we've had 4 loadbalanced servers configured with courier pop3 and dovecot handling respectively POP3 and IMAP connections. These 4 servers have a shared NFS storage on a Netapp FAS3220 controller with SAS disks. This setup is handling 50 POP3 sessions per second without any problems. Now we're installing 6 new loadbalanced servers to do the same job on the same

PRI error (HDLC Bad FCS)
Hi, We currently have an Asterisk box (P4 2.4 Ghz, 512Mb RAM, 1 T100P, Zhone Channel Bank and 1 E100P) connected to an ISDN running without any problems. That machine is working for about 1 year. Two days ago, we decided to switch that machine for two PowerEdge 600SC (HA) and we got some problems. The running machine (P4 2.4Ghz) has an Intel motherboard with four 32-bit 3.3v PCI slots,

Another big data size problem
Hi all, I'm trying to read a 1220 * 20000 table in R but I'm having lot of problems. Basically what it happens is that R.bin starts eating all my memory until it gets about 90%. At that point it locks itself in a uninterruptible sleep status (at least that's what top says) where it just sits there barely using the cpu at all but keeping its tons of memory. I've tried with

asterisk compile errors - pbx_dundi.c -help
Hi, Reviewing the archives I saw /2004-October/070314.html from Tim Lewis. His error is almost identical to mine i.e. when "make clean; make install" in asterisk sub dir, I get the following: pbx_dundi.c:54:18: zlib.h: No such file or directory pbx_dundi.c: In function `update_key': pbx_dundi.c:1315: warning: implicit declaration of function `crc32' pbx_dundi.c: In function

Call quality questions
Our basic system is as follows: P4 3.0 Ghz w/ HT, 1GB PC3200 RAM, 120 GB HDD, RH 9.0 OS, * from CVS several weeks ago, working OK for routing, VM, and AA, calls in on separate PSTN lines to Adtran TSU 600, into * server through T100P card. The hardware is not taxed at all with little over 20% proc utilization ever, low mem use, etc. All Phones are SNOM 200's with various firmware revisions

gigabit networks and kernel loads
I have been using pxelinux with Intel 850 1.7 Ghz P4 motherboards using 10/100 ethernet switches for about a year in a multichannel visual generation system. We are shifting to SuperMicro P4SAA 2.8 Ghz P4 motherboards with onboard gigabit ethernet and gigabit ethernet switches. Put are hung up because the diskless slave nodes will not load the (Linux) kernel from the master 2.8 Ghz computer.

Re: Minimum CPU required for >60 calls
Adam, I thought Andrew Kohlsmith gave the individual good advice without intentionally malaciously spitting in the guys face. For the question, " 'Whats the ' Minimum CPU required for 60 calls? " I think a Pentium 3, high end, which is cheap right now, should do fine, but you will need either 3 T-1s or arrange for the calls to come in via SIP, but you will still need more

File server as host for a Windows Server VM?
I did that kind of in the past. Now I dont because I have plenty of resoruces available. But. So far you have not provided stats on server usage (cpu, ram) over a 24hour or 7 day 8am-5pm timeframe. So I will asume you have plenty of usage/performance to spare. I suggest you to -if possible- replicate the current server setup somewhere else and then install the KVM and dependencies via yum. That way

File server as host for a Windows Server VM?
I hope that someone here can give some advice on the following: I have a Samba based Active Directory. A CentOS 7.6 machine runs as a file server and hosts the Windows user profiles for all the Windows workstations. Now management has decided that they need a Windows server for a couple of administrative applications, which need MS SQL Server. That would be the only role of this Windows.

* intergation with Panasonic D500 and strange echo
Hi, all ! I have a situation like this: [SIP Terminals] <-> [*] < -ISDN-PRI-> [Panasonic D500] <-> Telecom (conn to Telecom is with second PRI card in Panasonic and 16 POTS lines). Panasonic has 2 ISDN PRI cards (one to Telco, and second to Asterisk), 16 POTS lines to telco and 32 (advanced hybrid telephone type) extensions. Idea is to have possibility to have some users on

Xeon 5160 vs 5080
Chip Clock HT Cache Bus Speed --------------------------------------------------------- 5080 3.7 GHz YES 2MB 1066 MHz 5160 3.0 GHz NO 4MB 1333 MHz Does the .7 GHz and HT worth more then 4MB cache and higher bus speed? The application is VoIP so there is not a lot of IO so I would not think Bus Speed would matter. I am finding mixed information on HT, some say it is great, others say it

[LLVMdev] LLVM x86 Code Generator discards Instruction-level Parallelism
Dear LLVMdev, I've noticed an unusual behavior of the LLVM x86 code generator (with default options) that results in nearly a 4x slow-down in floating-point throughput for my microbenchmark. I've written a compute-intensive microbenchmark to approach theoretical peak throughput of the target processor by issuing a large number of independent floating-point multiplies. The distance

Problems with stuck PRI channel
I haven't seen anything about this is the archives, so here we go. Sorry, its a long one. My setup: Dual Xeon 2.4 GHz. One TE410P card. Span 1 populated with a PRI. Span's 2-4 empty. zaptel.conf: span=1,1,0,esf,b8zs bchan=1-23 dchan=24 loadzone = us defaultzone=us I'm currently having a problem where one of our PRI channels seems to keep a call even after it is hung up. We have

P4 processor with Hyperthreading and Asterisk
Hello, I read an interesting article on 2cpu.com that talks about the performance differences between a P4 processor with Hyperthreading(HT) enabled and disabled. http://www.2cpu.com/articles/ht_explored/index.html The bottom line of the article is that processor intensive applications greatly benefit from HT being enabled, but memory intensive applications can actually see a slight decrease in

File list Performance question
I have a server running SuSE 9.3 (Samba 3.0.13-1.1). The underlying filesystem is xfs, and the NICs are Netgear gigabit. 2 Gb of ram in a P4/3.0 Ghz. The workstations are windows XP Pro, with all service packs installed, on P4 3+ Ghz, 1-2 Gb of ram. (varies a bit by workstation) I have one particular tree on the server that contains over 12K files in a few hundred subdirs. Breaking it up
