libtiff 3.6.1 and Asterisk spandsp
Per: http://soft-switch.org/spandsp_faq/ar01s07.html
FAXing with spandsp keeps giving me core dumps. Its crap, isn't it?
Actually the crap in this case is probably libtiff. Versions 3.5.7
and 3.6.0 seem reliable. The FAX image handling in version 3.6.1 is
broken. All the core dump problems I have investigated turned out to
be due to a very old version of libtiff, or version 3.6.1.

Spandsp - Libtiff problem
Hello all,
I use Fedora 3, and I have compilation problem of SpanDsp , when
installaing spandsp, tiff warnings and errors generated and libunicall
generate "unresolved references....."
Is the problem in my libtiff installation, spandsp.h or in tif_dir.h and
tiffiop.h?
Are tif_dir.h and tiffiop.h too old?
The solution provided by ?HO SIN? to ?Kaws? :

SpanDSP+astfax with multiple fax pages
I've searched the list and could not find any solutions even though
this question has been brought up.
I'm not able to fax out multiple pages of tiff, where only the first
page is received but not the other pages at the receivers end.
I have no problem with receiving multi pages at my side.
I'm using SuSe9.1, asterisk-1.0-RC2, spandsp-0.0.2pre18, tiff-v3.5.7.
Please advice. Thanks.

fax/sandsp segfaulting asterisk
Like some others on the list spandsp is segfaulting asterisk when recieving
a fax. I'm on debian testing/unstable with freshly checked out asterisk

Here is the GDB output

RxFax
I am also having problems receiving my first fax. I get a 320byte file (for a
4 page fax). If I look a the tiff generated, is just has some few dots.
I am sending the fax from a notebook with Windows XP to an X100P and using
libtiff v3.5.7.
Has anyone successfully received faxes ?

TE410P + SPANDSP fax problem
Hi,
I just setup a fax server by spandsp. But it doesn't look good. Because each fax I received from my fax machine is not completed.
I use te410p work with it. While the voice call is good.
Any ideas?
Trace shows that the fax is received successfully.

Which libtiff 3.8.2 do I grab?
Via google: libtiff 3.8.2
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/idpl/2839214/com/libtiff-3.8.2-2.x86_64.rpm.html
This got me to a page all about libtiff 3.8.2 for 'Fedora other' and a link
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3?stat=3&search=libtiff&srodzaj=3
for other distributions.
So which do I take?

spandsp and app_rxfax (alternative topic: t38modem)
Dear gods of the PBX (flattery works here, right?) -
I've been pulling my hair out trying to get Asterisk to receive and
decode a fax using spandsp and app_rxfax. It seems like it should be
working. The fax machine on the other end connects and Asterisk reports
a fax coming in. But when it's done all I have is a 2 or 3 KB TIF (see
attachment).
The console activity looks completely

Re: SpanDSP TXFax and multipage faxes problems
Hi !
Does anyone managed to send multipage faxes (in single TIFF file) with
app_txfax from spandsp package (i'm using 0.0.2pre18, libtiff 3.7.1)?
If so, I'm interested in format of TIFF file that has been sent sent
succesfully (tiffinfo <fax-filename>).
I'm having problems with app_txfax, sending first page successfuly 99 % of
the time, but never managed to send second or

Fedora source packages on Centos -- libtiff again
In my seeking a managable way to build libtiff, on the Asterfax forum
I got the following recommendation (from another fax user that made
the move to libtiff 3.8.2):
================================================================
Hi Robert,
I have compiled libtiff-3.8.2 from the source package for my Fedora
Core 4 machine.
I am not sure about CentOS, but I think you can try to do the same

libtiff-3.6.1-8 and HylaFAX 4.2.5
Hi,
I am currently replacing my old Hylafax server to a new hardware with CentOS 4.2 (x86_64). Since CentOS 4.2 (and probably RHEL4) is shipping with libtiff-3.6.1-8, I'm wondering if this version of libtiff has the patch mentioned in the hylafax bugzilla http://bugs.hylafax.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=500 and/or is it compatible with the latest Hylafax 4.2.5 (i read libtiff-3.6.1 is

libtiff with bigtiff support
Can anyone tell me if the current libtiff-3.9.4-9.el6_3.x86_64 RPM has
bigtiff support built into it? I need this for tiling rather large
images for the Virtual Microscope project I am working on, and I am
having issues building the 4x versions that only seem to be available
for F18.
Thank you for any information you can provide

Optional libraries (libtiff, etc) not found
I installed the (binary) biOps package, which can use libtiff and libfftw.
Then I used macports to install the libraries (in /opt/local/lib). But I
restart R and biOps still does not see the libraries.
I've tried adding symbolic links from /opt/local/lib to /usr/local/lib, I've
added /opt/local/lib to LIBRARY_PATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH, and
DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH, and it doesn't work.
Do you

spandsp and freebsd
Hi,
I have problem installing spandsp-0.0.3pre24 on FreeBSD 6.1. I get error:
configure: error: "Can't build without libtiff" . But I have installed tiff
from port tiff-3.8.2. I understand that the problem is about libtiff, and
spandsp can't find these libs. So how to fix the problem?
Thanks
