super high bandwidth codec
I've just gotten off a skype conference call and it pisses me off that the quality of skype is higher than my asterisk calls. Is there such a thing as a super high bandwidth codec? In a situation that you have the bandwidth to share is there something that I can use for important calls when the situation warrants it? TIA, Dean -------------- next part -------------- An

Is SKYPE a threat or should we do something (together)
Skype is very succesfsfull and get more and more users, ... we can ignore them, accept them or do something,... My suggestion is that we try to do something, ... If we would peer to each other, than we get soon also a great amount of users together, and than our service becomes more valuable, ... Let's discuss advantages and disadvantages! bye Ronald -- Ronald Wiplinger (CEO of

G.729 patent in France
Hi all, I am building an Asterisk PBX with voicemail and music on hold functions. An ISDN BRI line will also be available and G.729 IP-phones will be used. Are there patents rights applicable to France? Which licence could I use and how many ones are required (only one per phone or also for voicemail and MOH)? country code list
I was wondering if anyone has put together a comprehensive list (that is reasonably maintained) that lists country codes, landline numbers, mobile numbers, etc. The particular requirement is for a dialplan to know what is going to be charged to whom. For example, mobile and landline rates are the same in the US the US has a unified numbering plan of 1NXXNXXXXXX, while the UK has: 441xxx

Setting Caller ID after Dial
Hello, I have the following situation: I have a PRI with 200 DID numbers and I have set up 200 sip extensions that matches the last 4 digit of the corresponding DID numbers so that when any of the 200 DID number is called, asterisk can pass the call to the respective sip extension. Incomming has been fine. But when making out going calls I want the called party to always see the same number

UK Caller ID - Asterisk 1.2.5 - TDM4 Card
Has any one found any issues (bug?) with ver 1.2.5 as CallerID generated on an outgoing FXS port (to the handset) fails when UK tones are used, with a message 'Didn't finish Caller-ID spill. Cancelling.' Any tips on getting this running ? Looked at Mantis, but only known bugs seem to relate to XP100 cards - not the TDM card. Thanks

priorityjumping=no
I've been trying to use a set-up whereby I have several TA's connected to an Asterisk server (1.2.4) and they act like they're in a hunt-group i.e. try the first, if busy jump to the next etc. in my extensions.conf I had something like [inbound-trunk] exten => 441234123456,1,Dial(SIP/s1a,20,r) exten => 441234123456,102,Dial(SIP/s2a,20,r) exten =>

Speeding up UK BT incoming call detection
Hi, I am running Asterisk v1.2.7.1 with a Digium TE110P. My dialplan is very simple, when a call comes in on my analogue BT PSTN line, it rings the other ZAP interface (my house phone). Slightly pointless (having a 1x1 switch) I know, but I am planning on doing more with internal SIP extensions, and outgoing SIP services etc.... At the moment it's just simple though whilst I try to fix this

IAX2 issue?
Just founnd a weirdy. My end is Asterisk 1.2.32 using an IAX2 link to the US. The IP address of the remote end changed (though in the config file it's registered as a name i.e. asterisk.remote.end), my system didn't recognised the IP change, it must be cached once and then the cached value used for ever. UK experts only. BT Outgoing caller ID not showing
Hi Just moved offices in the UK and moved our Asterisk box from old one to new one. Using idefisk softphones, Junghanns quadbri card for ISDN 2e interfaces. At both offices we had one standard number and a DDI range, routed with Asterisk. We'd set up the configuration so each idefisk set its own caller ID which then got sent by the extensions.conf script. Worked fine at old place but in

GSM Cards for Asterisk (UK)
Hi, I am currently building a 1.4.4 Asterisk box for a client and they are interested in GSM functionality. Does anyone have any experience with a GSM card, preferably Quad Span (4 GSM modules or higher) for use in the UK. I have seen the Junghanns* version but I am not keen on the limitation of having to use a BriStuffed version of Asterisk. Do Digium make one ? as I am unable to find

Looking for a good VoIP Provider in the UK-
Any recommendations for a VoIP provider in the UK? I have a few guys in a field office in the UK with SIP phones and a VPN tunnel back to a working Asterisk setup in the US. The Asterisk setup has an IAX trunk with TelaSIP/VoipXpress with local DiD's for US offices, so they can call vendors, customers etc in the US at local rates. I'd like to get the same thing for the UK, so that UK

UK Provider
Hi Does anyone know a UK Voip Proivder that will give me more than 1 telephone number and point it to my sip account. www.SipGate.co.uk are great but they only allow 1 telephone number per user, you can register another telephone number by registering as another user but Asterisk doesn't allow multiple registrations. Many Thanks Scott

Fwd: Asterisk on Solaris 10 (AMD Opteron, Sun Fire X2100)
Hello all, I really appreciate the replies I've gotten about this so far (especially the support for wanting to run it on Solaris!). The core issue seems to have been missed, though -- is there any way to run a complete Asterisk solution on Solaris 10 (including music-on-hold and conferencing)? This probably comes down to a few issues: - Is ztdummy (a component of Zaptel) *really*

Number portability in other parts of the world.
Are phone numbers portable in other countries? Are the same rules and conditions that exist here in the States mirrored elsewhere? How does a person in Europe go fully VoIP and still keep the main number? Do they use call forwarding? Is their another way to use an origination carrier without loosing your number?
