Re: Problem converting a Cisco 7960 to SIP
Hello all,
I've got myself into a bizzare situation that I can't seem to get myself
out of... Was wondering if anyone had some advice that might get me 'over the
hill' on this...
Some background: PBX consists of an Asterisk box (running TrixBox), 4 Cisco
7960's, 2 Polycom IP500's, and now an additional Cisco 7960. The phones are
all on a separate LAN. There is

Cisco 7940 Configuration
Hello all,
I recently purchased a Cisco 7940 IP phone to do some testing with (to
validate a migration to asterisk for our internal PBX needs). I
understand that I need to update the phone for it to support SIP, so I
configured the phone with an IP address and pointed it at my tftp server.
When I reboot the phone I am currently getting "TFTP File Not Found

Cisco 7965 SIP Firmware
I have 7965 and am trying to convert the firmware to SIP (SIP45.8-3-4SR1S).
Does anyone have a valid XMLDefault.cnf.xml they could share?
I have tried the version at
voip-info<info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+phone+cisco+79x1+xml+configuration+files+for+SIP&view_comment_id=14768#Troubleshooting>for
the 7941/7961 but unfortunately /var/log/messages shows

Registering Cisco 7942G IP phone with Asterisk!.
Hi,
?
We are new to IP phone firmware upgradation (Sorry if it is a re-post of previous question(s)).
?
Recently we have bought a cisco 7942G IP phone.
It currently has SIP 42.9-0-2SR1S firmware loaded on it.
We do not see any option to configure a SIP Proxy where we can provide SIP Server (Asterisk PC/Device)? IP address (with current firmware on it) to register it with Asterisk.
?
Do we need to

cisco 7940 firmware upgrade
I have been trying for sometime to upgrade this phone to either sip, or the
latest sccp (at this point I don't care) with no success. It has an sccp
image (don't know the version off the top of my head) that is incompatible
with chan_sccp. When I boot up the phone, it asks the tfpt server for the
.tlv file, then the SEP<mac> file which it receives successfully. It then
asks for

cisco 7920 makes 7940 reboot
I have asterisk 1.09 running with chan_sccp.20050701 on Fedora core 4 with
kernel 2.6.12.
I have a Cisco 7940 working with X-lite working on XP too, connecting to
each other, Asterisk and FWD. The 7940 upgraded to SIP7.4 with
xmlDefault.cnf.XML getting delivered via tftp using the loadInformation8
parameter method taken from voip-info.org ("Configuring Cisco 79xx phones

Is anyone using Cisco 7905G phones?
I have a few Cisco 7905G phones and I having a little trouble configuring
them. They are working with Asterisk. I'm able to get the sip image
loaded, but I can't get the phones to blind transfer.
Does the Cisco 7905G Phone use XML Services?
If you are using the 7905G phone, would you post any of your configuration
files so I can try and figure out where I'm going wrong?

Cisco 7905G vs ATA186
Hi All,
I'm looking at getting some Cisco VoIP hardware to play with in
combination with a Asterisk server.
I've heard that there is beta software available to do SIP on the 7905G.
So, I'm thinking of either getting a 7905G or a ATA186.
My dillema is, which one to buy?
I can get both for about the same price, has anyone had any experience
with using a 7905G with Asterisk?

Asterisk and Cisco 7905G or Cisco 7912G
Hi,
How well to the Cisco 7905G or Cisco 7912G phone work with Asterisk? Cisco
claims both phones do SIP.
I was strongly considering Polycom phones. However, it appears to be quite
difficult to obtain support or firmware for Polycom phones. On the other
hand, I find Cisco is very well supported.
Thanks,

Cisco 7905G Firmware
I have had a 7905G lying around for the past 8 months and have just had
time to start setting it up with asterisk. I started following the
links on the wiki about where to download the firmware from cisco. I
signed up to cisco so I could apparently download the new firmware for
the phone, but it now seems I must purchase a support contract. Is this
correct? Is there any other way to get the

Cisco 7905G SIP firmware needed
To get the SIP firmware for these phones, you need to buy a Cisco
SmartNet support contract (about $75 USD in the USA, though I've heard
rumors a Europe-only contract exists for about $10 USD.) You can
purchase one through most Cisco resellers. That will give you access to
Cisco's download site. Configuration of these phones under SIP is not
quite as straight forward as it is with SCCP,

Cisco 7905g TFTP Configuration
I recently got a 7905G w/ Sip software preloaded.
I got it working w/ asterisk with no problem setting it up through the
phone.
I am now trying to make it download the config file from the tftp server. I
have set all of the options in the file and the file is definately named
correctly. But the phone is simply not processing the config file for some
reason.

Using Skinny with a 7905G phone
Hi All,
I'm trying to get a Cisco 7905g IP Phone to work with our Asterisk
server but I'm having problems getting the phone to answer a call or
make a call. I'm using the stable branch of the asterisk CVS on a RH9
box.
I have got the phone to register with * and it retrieves it's extension
number, date & time etc., but when I pick the handset up it's just dead

[OT?]SCCP image for cisco 7905g
Hi,
I recently purchased a brand new 7905g with his SIP firmware (licensed).
Now, I want to play a little with chan-sccp, but I'm unable to find the
appropriate firmware for my phone. I know that I must get it directly
from cisco, but before purchasing it will be very good for me to try a
bit; does someone can provide me (or even tell me where can I find) the
SCCP image (version doesn't

Skinny and CISCO 7905G
Hello,
I tried to configure a cisco 7905 IP phone using the skinny channel but
I had not much luck.
The relevant portion of skinny.conf is:

callerid="Alex" <123-456-789>
mailbox=500
callwaiting=1

context=default

line => 500 ; Dial(Skinny/500@cisco1)
I set up the tftp server, and prepared the following
